I'm a big soccer fan and I…

I'm a big soccer fan and I've seen too many players whose careers are derailed by chronic hamstring issues, so I'm always a "won't believe it until I see it" guy when it comes to that injury specifically

Just a small correction re:…

Just a small correction re: Ohio State corners — Hancock is a year more experienced than Igbinosun. He's battled injuries since he got to Columbus and was on track to start next to Burke last season (for whatever that's worth) before a hamstring injury caused him to miss time and kept him from being 100% when he came back. Most people think he can be solid if he stays healthy but he's not really showed any indication of being able to that.

I think too much is being…

I think too much is being made of this. His dad seems like the kind of person that can separate fandom from his son making the choice he feels is right, and Aaron's parents will know of his final decision before the announcement either way.

I think everyone knows that…

I think everyone knows that the narrative of being "outbid" has some elements of choice from the parties involved. If schools like Ohio State or Michigan wanted to outbid other schools for recruits in the NIL stakes, they could certainly be more competitive than they are right now.

In my mind, the concerns are sustainability and stability of the roster. Do they want to set a precedent of paying 2.5 million for a top recruit to commit? Do they want to send the message to the rest of the team that the player in question is more valuable than anyone currently on the roster? There has to be a balance for the good of the locker room, and we're already seeing schools who pay more but don't perform as well on the field (A&M, Miami) deal with high player turnover as a result.

Complaints about a lower rated class aside, I like what Michigan is doing by being a little less aggressive on NIL and supplementing depth in the portal.

The city is really pushing…

The city is really pushing First Energy to relinquish naming rights, so who knows what it will be called when this actually happens

I usually just lurk here,…

I usually just lurk here, but I thought I'd chime in on this. I'm an adult who has had to come to terms with being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and with an understanding of how difficult that is, Chad's story is just so unfair and it makes me sick to think about. Shortly before he passed, there was a campaign over here that I latched on to and still donate/try to spread the word about.

You're not the guy who has…

You're not the guy who has lived (the house recently went on the market) in Ohio City who drives a Jeep with an "Mgoblog" license plate, are you?

Hey that's shit defensive…

Hey that's shit defensive coordinator to you, pal.

I see your point (and agree…

I see your point (and agree with it mostly, although Ohio State and Alabama have shown vastly different approaches to staff building), but I don't think it's unfair to say that at least a degree of Brian Hartline's success recruiting top WRs is due to the fact that he's young. He had almost zero coaching experience (1.5 years as a grad assistant I think?) when he took over.

The difference is that Ohio State's staff also has guys Larry Johnson, who could be the least charismatic person on earth, but it wouldn't matter because of his reputation in the sport.

Logging in to note that she…

Logging in to note that she also drove in the deciding run in their 1-0 win over Canada the other day.

Compared to last year,…

Compared to last year, anyone is an OSU-level DC

You could also say that…

You could also say that several key Liverpool haven't really hit top form yet, though. I think the upcoming LFC @ City game will go a long way in deciding the league.

What's the fans' excuse?

What's the fans' excuse?

Yes, that's what I said

Yes, that's what I said

Agreed. Aside from Alisson's…

Agreed. Aside from Alisson's regrettable error, the Man U win was one of the easiest games I've seen this season from Liverpool

Yeah so fortunate to be…

Yeah so fortunate to be taken over by a family with so much integrity too, I might add

It's not difficult to think…

It's not difficult to think that Man U could be better than City right now with Klopp. Liverpool is currently "right there with City" and 2018 was the first year that they've seemed intent on spending as much as the Manchester teams, and part of that is because they sold a player for 130M give or take.

Not defending any of that…

Not defending any of that stargazing nonsense, but for years we'd heard scouts talk about how Harrison could be the consensus number one recruit, and now he's being talked about as a raw prospect with a crazy high ceiling. Not a huge difference, but it sure sounds like one.

The third time that he's…

The third time that he's been fired immediately after losing to Liverpool, if anyone is keeping track

You can only have one but…

You can only have one but you gotta cut him in half

Player A:

2018: 5.46 ypc
2017: 6.20 ypc
2016: 6.02 ypc

Player B:

2018: 5.26 ypc
2017: 6.06 ypc
2016: 5.90 ypc

Guess which is which

I can absolutely understand…

I can absolutely understand why recruits wouldn't like Urban, but disliking Urban and liking James Franklin? It's like choosing the guy trying to sell you a used Porsche vs the guy trying to sell you a used Dodge Stratus: they're both assholes, but in one case, you get a Porsche.

Have you ever actually been…

Have you ever actually been to Columbus? The city doesn't get nearly the winters even that cities an hour north get, let alone 4+ hours north. My freshman year in Columbus it didn't snow until January

I agree with you, but Olave…

I agree with you, but Olave was playing because of the injury to Austin Mack, not only because he's fast

Somehow they beat the titan…

Somehow they beat the titan that is Purdue

Saying 0-3 doesn't do that…

Saying 0-3 doesn't do that record justice without mentioning that one loss was against Akron

Agreed. I may be in this…

Agreed. I may be in this situation sooner rather than later and if I say I don't want people to see me in that state, I'd hope they'd respect my wishes.

Congratulations, you all get…

Congratulations, you all get to witness my greatest shame as an alumnus and fan of Ohio State

I'm not gonna defend my…

I'm not gonna defend my cesspool fanbase in this instance, but from the photos, the rally was very small and I'd be very surprised if there were any alumni, let alone students, involved. The petition is a different story

You're not wrong. Very few…

You're not wrong. Very few people who I graduated with are blindly defending Urban like the commentariat on 11W. I guess I just was fooled into the belief that it was one of the last bastions of reasonable fanhood. I won't be commenting there in the future, although I believe that the site's admins and writers are coming from a place similar to the one I am.

I've gone through some…

I've gone through some personal (health) stuff in the last few years that has helped me gain some perspective. Not that I would otherwise be defending ANYONE who condones violence against women, but my experiences have taught me that there are many, MANY things that come before a game.

I just figured that a few of…

I just figured that a few of the OSU "superfans" would be putting ethics and morality over a game

I thought elevenwarriors…

I thought elevenwarriors represented the more rational side of the Ohio State fanbase, but I just checked on the latest in this trainwreck and hoooooo boy was I wrong.

This isn't entirely true;…

This isn't entirely true; the fanbase is pretty mixed about him. I questioned his ability to develop the crazy amount of talent OSU has had at WR on elevenwarriors, and got downvotes because of it

Jeremy Toljan is a RB who…

Jeremy Toljan is a RB who gets a decent amount of time and once he figures out there's no room for him with the German team, he might play for the USMNT. I hope?

Maybe, but full disclosure,…

Maybe, but full disclosure, I learned nothing from the Klinnsman debacle and want another foreign coach

You cared enough to give this post some sweet, sweet traffic

I'll defend to the death the practice of calling English football "The Footy"

Romelu Lukaku starts for one…

Romelu Lukaku starts for one of the best soccer nations in the world and his first touch is only marginally better than Zardes. I'll say two things: 1. I'm a reformed Zardes-hater, and 2. I'm a Crew fan, but with those in mind, Berhalter's ability to find a way to hide Zardes's glaring inadequacy is a genius decision.

If two things continually…

If two things continually coincide there is a correlation, but it may not be causal

I wasn't referring to…

I wasn't referring to pediatric brain tumors. GBM makes up over half of brain tumors in all patients. Obviously, we're coming from different places here. It's never been in my best interest to do research on pediatric brain tumors, but I've done a bunch on brain tumors in adults

52% of brain tumors are…

52% of brain tumors are glioblastomas, right? That's a whole lot of brain tumors that are treatable, but generally not curable.

Regarding the statement about children not typically being eligible for immunotherapy trials, the only area in which I'm knowledgeable here is regarding brain cancer, so I was referring only to that. I'm under the impression that many of the most promising trials for GBM using vaccines to promote  immune response to fight the cancer are being offered to adults only, but I'd love to be wrong. After all, brain cancer is the second most common cancer in children, correct?

C'mon man. I have no agenda…

C'mon man. I have no agenda in this argument. All I said was that studies have shown that CBD oil has been shown to slow or halt cell growth. I didn't specify the types of trials and I didn't deny the fact that the findings have been extremely limited and not yet studied very extensively in actual human subjects (although there are ongoing studies on the issue and hopefully we'll know more soon enough)

CBD has actually been shown…

CBD has actually been shown in early studies to slow or halt growth in the cells of some types of cancers. There's a reason the best hospitals in the country commit money to studying alternative/integrative medicine. A healthy skepticism is good, but dismissal won't get you anywhere.

Yeah, the Polio vaccine…

Yeah, the Polio vaccine trial actually cured a patient (brain cancer is typically incurable) when used in a trial at Duke University.

There are new trials using immunology that are super promising, but I don't think children are eligible for most of them, sadly.

Regarding what makes a…

Regarding what makes a school "uppity", he says in a 247 article that Michigan acted like it was a foregone conclusion that he would go there over MSU once he got the offer, and it rubbed him the wrong way.

I'm lucky to have lived so…

I'm lucky to have lived so close to great cancer centers. Both the James and and the Clinic are renowned for their brain cancer treatments and I could've chosen either one and been happy but I decided to move back north

I'd be there if I didn't live so close to the Cleveland Clinic
