Ohio State uses "TUN" on the schedule for the NC Trophy

Submitted by mrkid on

Ohio State really got us this time! Instead of putting "Michigan" on the schedule of their National Championship trophy, they really showed us by putting "TUN". Ouch.

It's one thing for Neutron Man, the cowboy guy, or the painted head bald dude with the buckeye necklace to wear a shirt that says that.  But to engrave it on a historic trophy is pandering to the lowest brow portion of the fanbase.  I may laugh that Jalen Rose wiped his butt on the floor at Breslin, but do you make a stained glass window of it?

Now you've got me imagining an actual church of Michigan, with glorious stained glass windows featuring Woodson's pick, Desmond's pose, Woodley high-stepping into the endzone, Trey's three, etc. Like the National Cathedral, but better.

Guys, come on.  We've always been That School Up North (or town or state or what have you) to them.  We've always been bitter rivals.  Why shouldn't they take a dig at us?  Isn't that the fun of having a rivalry?

What, exactly does TUN stand for? Isn't is supposed to be TSUN? Those stupid assholes can't even manage to insult us properly, how can they field such consistently good football teams?

Perhaps, but the other schools are listed by school, not just by team. It sounds like someone was being cute here, which of course they are entitled to do, but that they didn't really think this through. I kind of like the fact that even OSU's National Championship trophy still has to have a little bit of stupid. It's one of the things that makes them what they are.

Years from now, there will be at least some people who will look at the trophy and won't know that Ohio State beat Michigan in 2014.  I'm fine with that.

Also, a day will come when the MMB can spell "TUN" during halftime while our team beats their ass in Columbus.  That would be satisfying.

"2014 The Ohio State Buckeyes Football?"

The whole "Ohio" thing was funny because it showed how thin the skin was.  There was no reason for their fans or team to get mad about that...it didn't hurt their teams' chances of winning, nevermind the fact that the word "State" is absent from their fight song ('show them Ohio's here'), alma mater (Carmen Ohio), favorite word to spell (O-H-I-O), and the name of their football stadium.

1) OSU fans being butt-hurt about it is the most perpetually aggreived fanbase on the planet looking for a reason to be upset.  I mean, they're annoyed that Hoke called them the thing their own marching band spells out and the chant/mating call their own fans spell out.

2)  In retrospect, I don't think Hoke called tOSU "Ohio" to troll them by inferring that they were THE Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  I think he was too clueless to know the difference.  Aware but not fully aware, as it were.

This team is not invincible like the national media tends to believe. I think they are overthinking this QB situation and getting too cute.

Not to mention, UM, Indiana, and PSU played with them for 3+ quarters last year.

Can't wait to shock them in November!
