New Michigan Basketball uniform design (photo)
Following the adidas pattern of the changes they make to their Basketball uniform templates, the new one is due up for 2014-15 since they usually go 2 years and then change.
Example-
2008-09 - 2009-10
2010-11 - 2011-12
2012-13 - 2013-14
Adidas has released their complete line of catalogs for 2014-15. Here is what looks to be their new uniform template.
What backs up the claim this is this the new design is that it said they are available "at once" and the redesign will be two years from now, in time for the 2016-17 season.
Bonus: this is a jersey the Women's team will be wearing next year. WTF
There is no way in hell this is their standard Maize uniform. This HAS to be a one-off or a special alternate similar to the Bleed Out. They should name this line "My Eyes Are Bleeding Out"
/ducks tomatoes
Is that Comic Sans???
jersey and thought it was the mens. Damn near shat the bed.
i think someone at adidas accidentally hit the bold button on those women's uniforms.
Then maybe they should have their names and number across their ass?
I never heard Denard complain about the location of the name on his jersey.
I see what you did there.
but a different one: instead of "so hit" I would of guessed "shit", as in "they haven't done shit...
You can edit the post to correct a misspelling instead of adding another post...
He could have, but you can't.
:)
Templates are fine for rec leagues but it's absurd that schoold with as much money as Michigan with their long history of bespoke uniform designs should be resorting to this shit.
I also don't like how it rather blatantly commercializes the student athletes by essentially parading them about as part of "Team Adidas" or "Team Nike" or whatever. This is Michigan fergodsakes!
Don't women's jerseys often have the name below the number?
Honestly, I don't even know what to say anymore when it comes to uniforms. Adidas has us by the short ones, and it seems this Athletic Department doesn't know how to stand up and say no. We said no to Nike on shit, I don't know why all of the sudden we don't say no to Adidas.
Many women's jerseys have the name below the number...because many times their hair gets in the way of the name.
So they changed it professionally for marketing of their athletes and its now popular in college as well.
I don't have a problem with that. Most Adidas jerseys have the name below the number for women.
What I have a problem with is that font and all of the text being in white and not navy with a white outline. Change those 2 things and the jerseys are fine.
Hell you may be able to leave the numbers white, but the MICHIGAN and the player name on the back should definitely be navy (even though I'd prefer everything be navy with a white outline).
The Adidas Director of Global Brands is from Ohio (Dayton) and attended Wisconsin. I'm sure he's just screwing with us. Most of the remaining Board of Directors speaks German. They just smile and nod when we complain.
No unis for you. Next!
I'm going to rant this rant one more time because it's my best rant and anyone who doesn't agree with it can find a tall building.
MICHIGAN SPORTS (Especially Football, Basketball and Hockey) SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN TEMPLATE!
It is BULLSHIT that our Men's basketball team wears the same Adidas template as most every other Adidas school.
Note: I am not talking about tournament jerseys...every teams gets those and NIKE does this as well during the season, so switching back to Nike doesn't avoid this. I'm talking standard home, away, alternate.
Indiana, Kansas, Wisconsin and UCLA are all Adidas and they don't follow this template that we've had to deal with since switching to Adidas.
Our football jerseys are one of a kind, basketball should be the same way. It doesn't have to be overly plain or traditional. But NO ONE else should wear what we wear (just in their colors).
We're supposed to be the #1 Adidas college contract. Stop treating us like we're Mississippi State.
If anyone even close to the Athletics Department reads this, PLEASE raise hell. It's really not that f-ing hard. I'm not saying we need to be Oregon/Nike or Maryland/Under Armour. I'm not saying we need anything else that is special.
Just one stinking template that no one else uses. And let us wear that until Adidas wants all their schools in the gimmick jersey. If that is what we're bitching about, whatever, everyone has to do it. They'll be tacky, but we'll live.
But our basic home/away/alternates should be OURS. When you hold up the Michigan home football uniform, it's ours. Even away is like that even thought a lot of people don't care for them.
Basketball should be the same way. It doesn't have to be anything off the wall, it doesn't have to be overly plain. Just whatever it is, it should be MICHIGAN and MICHIGAN only.
So many Nike schools (including MSU and OSU) have their OWN jersey. Sure the collar may be the same or something so you know it's Nike, but if you put the entire thing together, UK, Florida, OSU, MSU, Duke, UNC, Texas, etc. all have their own template that no one else uses. Michigan should be NO different.
Believe it or not, Football is starting to fall into the template pattern as well. Granted, it's very subtle with the logo above the nameplates on the back.
Louisville, Tennessee and Wisconsin have this, as well, just to name a few.
Just like all Nike uniforms have that flywire shit on the collar.
That's just marketing and identification. I can even live with that stuff.
But our basketball jerseys have been literally the EXACT same uniform as most of the other Adidas schools, just in our colors.
UConn, MSU, UK all had their own template and they've had these for years...it's THEIR jersey. Sure Nike does little things to make it "Nike," but when you put everything together it's still a one-of-a-kind combo.
That's what Michigan should have. And Adidas can do it, because there are 5-6 Adidas schools that do have a unique template to just their school/team.
Edit: I caught the typos in my original rant, however, we replied too quickly for me to edit...oh well.

I'm a fan, a pretty huge fan actually. It does not dictate my life though, if I were to make a top ten list of things in my life that are important to me, I don't even know if Michigan Football would make it on there. Actually, I can pretty much guarantee it would not, now or ever. You should really try to broaden your horizons a little bit, obsessions aren't healthy. Go find a nice young lady to take out to dinner and a movie, go camping, go to the beach, get a dog... something. Anything.
I'm taking a lady friend of mine to senior day against maryland, actually.
She's very similar to me in regards to her planning everything around games.
I'm genuinely glad to hear that. I know you're young, and I just hate to see youth today wasting the best years of their lives behind a computer monitor/Xbox/whatever. Girls are wonderful. Good luck.
On the ride to the stadium, you might try this:
Can we just keep the 12-13, 13-14 jerseys? We've had good success with those jerseys and they look pretty good. Besides the bolded font (i mean wtf?) which i'm assuming they'll fix, I can't stand the dots on the top of the jerseys. They looked stupid in the tournament and they look stupid in this design.
If our AD couldn't figure out a way to prevent MSU and OSU from becoming road games in the same season, then good luck saying no to Adidas on anything.
"There is no way in hell this is their standard Maize uniform. This HAS to be a one-off or a special alternate similar to the Bleed Out."
I would certainly hope this is a one-shot deal (actually, a no-shot deal would work better for me), because I am afraid that otherwise my eyes may stop perceiving maize as a result of acute exposure due to overload from these uniforms. Wow.
The uniforms are so bright they can lower the arena lighting and save money.
Interesting. Well, I happen to have a sneak peak of the upcoming men's uniforms:
Is it above or below the number?
The name and number actually orbit the player. Very innovative, with a significant Wow! factor.
I wish we could do a dual deal like V Tech or Baylor had. Nike for basketball & football, Adidas can have everything else.
As long as you follow it up with a win/loss for basketball since the switch to Adidas.
Uniforms have nothing to do with winning. It's just a convenient narrative.
