My favorite Matt Millen Statement from yesterday's broadcast

They were also talking about how the refs were wrongly blaming them as they were back at that time. I half expected Millen to say that always blame me around these parts.

 I posted it earlier in something else, but my favorite from millen of the day was after that shitty punt by UCONN he said:

"wow.. THAT was pathetic.." haha just the tone of his voice made me laugh my balls off.
 

I missed that part.  I'll have to find it.  This must be pointed out to local media and made fun of, immediately.

Also:  my reaction to Millen covering another UM game was "WHY GOD WHY?"

Millen is great as an announcer. He brings an element of comedy (intentional or not) to the table that you just don't get from other announcers.

"If I tackled Dennard, I would pull his shoes off" and come to find out, the Connecticut defensive players did just that. 

I have to assume that the level of those boos was grossly misrepresented then. Can we really assume that Matt Millen can evaluate the quality of boos just because he once was booed at himself?

When they showed Tate alone on the bench, he said " He looks like a lonely petunia in an onion patch." That was the most ridiculous analogy i've heard in a while.

and that is nice that he can poke fun at his Lions tenure.

But the man should not be covering games in the state of Michigan - he just has no credibility since all Michiganders have witnessed first hand the Matt Millen GM error.

he's been ridiculed incessantly by everyone who has ever met, worked for, or worked with him in the past. As a result of this, he's got this tendency to blurt out whatever is emblazened on that cranial teleprompter of his.  When he's critical, it comes across as bitter/caustic - and he doesn't care who hears it or that what he said is being recorded. 

He forgot somebody's name in there somewhere. It was a really obvious one. Like the qb for UConn.

...but both Millen and McDonough were quite kind to RR and the team.  They might have even made the casual or more national "RR sure has sucked at Michigan" people think a little bit.  If those "fans" can't think, then M and M might have at least given them something new to parrot.  Either way, I think yesterday's telecast helped take a little bit of heat off of RR. 

Obviously, the game and result did a lot more, but I am still glad to hear them tell a national audience that RR didn't inherit the kind of talent that one would normally expect at Michigan.  It's almost as if they were going out of their way to get people off of RR's back.  For that, I am grateful.  Even if Millen was part of it.

Say what you want about Millen but I actually think he is a solid color announcer.

My favorite was his comment on Denard's pass to TRob.  But overall - he had some excellent sound bites.

He was the Lions GM, obviously that and 4 Superbowl rings mean he knows nothing about the game of football.

Although I did enjoy watching Millen miss the things he was trying to circle on his telestrator multiple times.

I could be wrong, but I think it was the play-by-play man (Sean McDonough?) who responded to Millen's statement about booing with "in this neighborhood, in fact."  The only reason I remember it is because I thought it was actually a little rude for McDonough to bring that up on the air.  If it's Millen making fun of himself, that's his prerogative.  But I didn't think McDonough should have mentioned a potentially embarrassing situation.

Maybe it was indeed Millen, though, and I just got the voices mixed up.

"Oh that's six" on denards first rushing td.  

the tone of his voice reminded me of "oh wide open" in the 06 ND game.

I enjoy Millen for the most part.  I thought he was good last year and I thought he was fair and funny this year.  I didn't necessarily enjoy near the end of the game his repeated laments that just one or two things had to change for UConn to run away with the game.  I think we all agree that UConn missed some key opportunities, but the difference would be between a close game and the result we saw.  Not some sort of bizzaro blowout.

My favorite comment was early on in the game, and Denard was lining up for the snap. Millen said something like 'I like Denard, he sees things.' That gave me a good chuckle

One thing was certain during that telecast.  Matt Millen had a raging hard on all game for our offensive line.  Millen probably had a wet dream about Steve Schilling getting to the second level all day.

the comment in reference to the stadium renovation:  "Michigan's just polished the jewel in the crown of college football".  Or something like that...

Thought it was awesome.
