MSU Punter Tyler Hunt done for the year
MSU may now be down to their 3rd string punter for the rest of the year. This punter will either be Bryce Baringer, who punted twice in the IU game and only joined the team as a walk-on punter when starter Jake Hartberger went out for the year, or Rocky Lombardi. Lombardi, you may know, is the team's backup QB and will be starting at QB tomorrow. So Lombardi may end up starting at QB and Punter tomorrow.
This game will be hilarious to watch.

I am actually genuinely interested in the Purdue at MSU game. NOT JUST to see how Purdue looks after OSU, but also how MSU copes with the loss of so many players.
Go Boilermakers, make Dantonio 17 and 17 the past 34 games.
October 26th, 2018 at 3:04 PM ^
I love that we're cherry-picking MSU records based on arbitrary ranges of time. I'm being serious, not at all sarcastic, BTW - those fuckers (among many others) have been doing this shit to Michigan for the better part of a decade. Time they got a taste.
October 26th, 2018 at 3:36 PM ^
Here's a nice stat. Remember when Harbaugh was struggling last year, and a lot of Spartans were waving around the "Through x games, Harbaugh's record is xx-xx, and Hoke's was yy-yy", and the joke was that they were pretty similar?
Right now, the stat is "Through 47 games, Harbaugh's record is 35-12, and Hoke's was 29-18."
Here's an even better stat. In his last 33 games at MSU, Dantonio's record is 17-16. In his last 33 games at UM, Hoke was 17-16.

Is the groundskeeper on the injury report as well? Hope she is ok after that vicious attack by Bush.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
No, but I am hearing the back-up punter was injured when he tripped on the spot of the field Bush mangled. So not only will he soon be charged with Malicious Destruction of Property, he will also be charged with Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm.

This is what you call, "Packing it in for the season."
October 26th, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
Might be a stretch, but I could see Dantonio sitting Lewerke this week to be like “See he was hurt! That’s why we lost to Michigan!”
He will probably try to lose the rest of his games this season so they can claim Michigan still hasn’t beaten a good MSU team.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
Maybe they can find a way to get O'Korn eligible so he knows how Michigan felt last year - Fuck D'antoni
October 26th, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
Depends on how you define "packing it in." The fact they may hold out Josiah Scott and Cody White in a big game to get a redshirt could be called packing it in for the season. Or Sparty fans selling their tickets for $6 on Stubhub against a top-25ish team could be called packing it in for the season.
October 26th, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
Dantonio has flat out said he wouldn't want to win if it helped Michigan. Spartan fans ate it up.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
It would be sad if it weren't so fitting.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
Looks like MSU will once again be playing with some weird guys.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
It's all part of their master plan to tank so they can say injuries are why they lost to UM.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
That would be such a Sparty thing to do.
A Sparty friend of mine texted me at the beginning of the season and said he thought M would go 10-2, with the losses being to MSU and OSU. I replied that "M might lose two games, but we're not losing to MSU."
He replied that since MSU won in 2017 and that game was in A2, that MSU should be favored in 2018 in East Lansing. I told him that I didn't consider the 2017 result predictive for 2018 because of the weather and because M had John O'Korn at QB. This made my friend all upset, and he then sent me a stream of texts complaining about how I was "making excuses" and trying to say that the 2017 game "didn't count."
I feel as though that was a perfect insight on the Spartan mentality. Trying to identify the reason(s) for a bad outcome does not necessarily equate to excuse-making. And losing is still losing, even if there are good reasons for why you lost. Michigan lost in 2017; it doesn't matter if I think things might have gone differently had Speight been healthy or the sun had been shining. I can use information about that game for making predictions about what might happen in the future, but that doesn't change what happened on the field.
Well this year, Sparty fucking lost. And it still counts, Sparty, even if your punter was out or your QB had a sore shoulder. All that matters is what happened in the game that was played.

MSU’s master plan to secure the #1 pick in the draft.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
the line in that game is MSU like -1. It makes literally no sense even if MSU get guys back. Purdue is rolling. Vegas knows something.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:44 PM ^
They probably know that Purdue lost to Eastern Michigan
October 26th, 2018 at 2:07 PM ^
It's in East Lansing and it's going to rain. On paper Purdue should win comfortably, but watch - MSU will let the field degrade into an even more unplayable mess than last week (slowing down PU's skill players) and the rain probably means lots of fumble fun.

The pride comes before the complete collapse of the program?
October 26th, 2018 at 12:53 PM ^
Maybe the two recruits from Belleville will see where MSU is heading and change their commitments to Michigan Tech.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:53 PM ^
Go for it on 4th every time?
October 26th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
Hmmm. I was going to go a different way...
Punt on every first down?
October 26th, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
With Lombardi I'm expecting a lot of quick kicks on 3rd and long. He may catch Hart in attempts by the end of the season.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
Geez ... Karma really is a bitch.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
I am an MSU grad and each year it is difficult to find a game to go to (wife is an MSU grad and fan) that doesn't conflict with a Michigan game. This game set up nicely and I'm excited to go watch Purdue pummel MSU silently, while I pretend to not root against my wife's interests (she's out of my league).
October 26th, 2018 at 1:10 PM ^
Purdue will not be pummeling MSU silently. Expect the beat down to be quite boisterous.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
MSU grad but wife is an MSU grad? I'm confused.
October 26th, 2018 at 5:27 PM ^
They both could have married Michigan grads but they CHOSE to marry MSU grads
October 27th, 2018 at 1:34 AM ^
They both tried to marry Michigan grads, but their proposals couldn't get accepted.
October 26th, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
Maybe you should be their punter since you out kicked your coverage.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
What the hell happened to him that they’re going to blame us for?
October 26th, 2018 at 12:57 PM ^
I don't think ol sMirk Dantonio will be standing 5 yard behind them with a smile on his face tomorrow morning.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
Their wall of players is going to have some gaps in it.
October 26th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
The voodoo spell that was placed on him that allowed him to make that one-handed Spiderman catch and super punt has completely worn off; rendering him lifeless.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
Dantonio is letting God take care of his battles.
God says Dantonio gets to lose a few more.
October 26th, 2018 at 4:35 PM ^
This is just wonderful! Do not mess with The Almighty...
October 26th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
The dignity of their defeats just keeps increasing.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
A Purdue win keeps pressure on Wisconsin (along with NW and Iowa) in the B1G West. However the resulting MSU loss will cause MSU to tailspin to a 6/7 win campaign and continue the Sparty narrative that “your last two wins against us were our worst teams in 15 years.” Ehh whatever, Boiler Up!
October 26th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
Don't shoot me, but I hope Staee pulls off the win tomorrow, because . . .
1) Boosts our SOS, and
2) I'm wary of playing Rondale Moore in the B1G championship game.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:18 PM ^
Purdue is rolling right now, and Moore had a huge game against OSU. But he hasn't been that huge against other teams. OSU quit on that game, early - in the first half. Moore got most of his yards in the second half, well after OSU stopped playing to win. A great game to be sure, but I don't think it's overly representative of what to expect moving forward. Although I do expect him to torch MSU...
October 26th, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
Saw only the highlights. To me it looked like the game was pretty close through three quarters in spite of 21 - 6 scoreline. Only in the fourth could Purdue pull away. OSU had three PBU by the Purdue DB in the endzone or redzone. The final score is deceiving.
October 26th, 2018 at 6:10 PM ^
I watched the whole game and Purdue dominated OSU's offense the entire game up to that 21-6 score. Once OSU started scoring garbage touchdowns Purdue's offense exploded and made the score even uglier. But Purdue controlled this game start to finish.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:20 PM ^
Same, except its for the OSU schadenfreude when the Purdue team that pounded them loses to an injury-riddled MSU team one week later.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:21 PM ^
Anything that makes Mork look good is bad.
October 26th, 2018 at 6:12 PM ^
Absolutely not. I want MSU to lose every game, except maybe the OSU game so if we win out then lose to OSU we can still go to the rose bowl even though the playoffs will be out.
