Remember when everyone was freaking out that he had the OSU t-shirt on at that event he was photographed at? It was just a shirt then. It's just a shirt now. Yes, he chose OSU after wearing that shirt, but all information indcates that he had not chosen it at the time of that wearing.

no way dude. it's not too late if he wants to come back to the good guys. you realize people were seriously entertaining the idea of braxton miller transferring to michigan AFTER he had played against us for 3 years and with his ohio tattoo?! and you're telling me you wouldn't take a kid whose heart was with michigan and he made a choice that he thought would be better for him, but was immediately proven wrong the day after he made that choice?!

i'm not sying he comes back, but if he wants to and is able to get out of his LOI, open arms!

I genuinely believe people overanalyze things, but I can't imagine why he would wear that shirt.  If he is planniing on sticking with OSU he is making things very tough on himself.  The fans are going to jump all over him even though it may just be a workout shirt.   I can't imagine any Michigan fans would be excited if their commits were working out in OSU gear.

I can understand a guy from Michigan going to OSU if he's not a Michigan fan. But it's just kind of crazy from a fan's perspective to see a guy who is a fellow Michigan fan consider OSU when there's so many other great non-UofM schools to choose from

Fwiw I see Weber as a better fit for a pro style offense than the spread. I personally think Higdon is going to be every it as good as weber or better. If Mike stays at osu, goes somewhere else, or goes to Michigan I don't care

I'll admit to working out in some gear that they give to athletes (received through connections) that isn't Michigan mostly because they are very comfortable and breathe really well. If I was Weber, I'd be using all those shirts to work out in too. But, like Weber, I wouldn't think people would be taking pictures of me and posting them on the internet while I was working out.

But I don't think its accidental he chose that shirt to wear, knowing his workout was going up on Instagram.

I don't necessarily think it means he's going to ask for his release, but its his own personal form of protest.

Yeah, people are on here having fun and being dismissive about the shirt, but the kid is clearly sending some form of a message. You don't put on a Michigan shirt right after committing to OSU. And don't give me that, he just picked any ole shirt to wear stuff. With all of this commotion surrounding him, he's aware of the attention that shirt would get.

There are two scenarios for Mike Weber's future:

  1. Urban talks him off the ledge and he shows up on campus in August to play for OSU
  2. Urban lets him out of his LOI with the stipulation that he can't sign with Michigan, MSU, or Penn State.

Either way, you won't see Mike Weber on the sideline in Michigan Stadium wearing the colors of the good guys, ever.

Move on.

That's incorrect. Had he enrolled at Ohio State, that would be the case, however this is not considered a "transfer" since he has not enrolled at the university. If he is released from his letter of intent, OSU cannot place restrictions on where he goes to school. If Weber were to pursue a release and OSU refused (PR nightmare), he could still attend any other institution on full scholarship, but would have to sit out 1 year and would lose that year of eligibility.

Is it possible to execute a side agreement, along with the LOI release, that makes it conditional? They can't keep him from signing with anyone he wants, of course, but as you say, without the LOI release he has to sit out a year.

I guess what I'm wondering is, is there something in the NCAA regs governing LOI's that specifies proper language for the release?

I am beginning to think that it may take more than this to get Ohio State to consider a release from his LOI, if indeed that is the ultimate aim (and it might not be - this may mean nothing, but it is oddly intriguing). It might need to go as far as insisting that one is Alphonso XII of Spain or demanding to wear a number which is unable to calculated by current computing. Even then, there is no guarantee that Meyer would necessarily see that as unusual behavior.

Perhaps, but I think Meyer has a lot to lose if he isn't careful.  This story is getting a lot of play and won't go away until Weber decides it's OSU or Meyer let's him out of his LOI.  Meyer was despised by SEC coaches.  So far, things have been relatively peaceful, but this little travesty is a good way to ensure that a story that paints Meyer in a very bad light keeps getting covered.

Harbaugh, I suspect, will be Meyer's worst nightmare, not only on the field but off the field as well.  Harbaugh is never afraid to get in someone's face as we have alredy seen with the quote about deceit, and push their hot button.  I hope old Urbs slept well while he had the chance; his nights may be a bit more restless down the road.

Dude, Mike Weber has no idea what kind of snake pit he's about to walk into down here.  This story has been on the local news daily since it was first reported.  People (college kids, grown men, old ladies) are following this story and paying attention to this kid.  He's an OSU signee wearing Michigan gear?  They won't even say the name of the state down here.  Unfortunately, kid's got a lot of rough days ahead of him.
