|12 weeks 3 days ago||i know this may sound too||
i know this may sound too conspiracy theory-ish, but it feels very coincidental that the one game mcgary dressed for (even though he had no chance of playing) he got "randomly" chosen to take a drug test. almost like someone was looking to screw him. add in the unwillingness to alter the one-year ban (even though it had just been revised to 1/2 a year), and you wonder about someone with a michigan axe to grind being involved.
oh wait, sorry, that's just the paranoia from the weed i just smoked talking

this is the trouble with poor defense. when we go cold, we look terrible. hopefully we shake it off, but purdue's defense looks really good so far.

f jalen is a little harsh, but i agree he needs to get off the fab 5 soapbox. michigan basketball is back. just be happy about it, and stop bringing up the fab 5!!!
go blue, love the shirt!
|25 weeks 6 days ago||increasing sample size||
increasing sample size improves precision. if the accuracy of each measure is off, it does not improve accuracy. however, if one measure is systematically off (like rivals could be since it seems to be an outlier) it is often best to exclude that point since it is introducing the greatest error.
so, you might actually argue that rival's being so much further off than the other sites is actually making the composite score worse than it really is. one should conclude that there is either a systematic bias against michigan with the rivals rankings or that there is a systematic bias for michigan by the other three. no one can know for sure, but the first scenario is more likely unless you can prove that rivals performance with respect to michigan has consistently been better and the other consistently worse.

i thought this was 2014, not 2013!
seriously, though, this stuff works itself out. kid looks like a stud, but if he is not coming here because of al borges, then so be it.

that game single-handedly made my little cousin no longer interested in michigan football. he ultimately decided to go to unc and became a basketball fan.

i think he goes by EFWolverine in the lesser known but similarly named umgoblog, where he is a frequent poster and handles recruiting.
|26 weeks 4 days ago||i do think we should be||
i do think we should be ranked based on our record (even with the bad charlotte loss), but in the end, basketball rankings are unimportant until ncaa seeding (and even then they take a back seat to other metrics)

well, it looks like one of those programs violated a "core value" or "decision" and stole their sign from the other!

so brutal--msu, ohio state, and nd all on the road...hoke didn't do himself any favors making this a do or die season

i've considered malik mcdowell a long shot for um ever since brandon brown's update a few weeks back. but man it would suck if he goes to sparty.
|29 weeks 1 day ago||yes, you are right. a bad||
yes, you are right. a bad oline is hard for a freshman rb to shine with. that's why i said i hope it is a reflection of the oline and not his true potential.
ask any football expert and they will tell you that running back is the one position that a talented true freshman can consistently contribute in. mike hart, marshall faulk, tj yeldon, adrian peterson, ron dayne, even crazy ass maurice clarett all excelled as true freshman. the one thing each of them had was decisiveness, an ability to hit a hole hard and fast, and an ability to keep their feet moving after contact so that they nearly always gained yards. the oline is responsible for the first few yards, the rb for yards after that. in limited action, i failed to see anything that promising from either derrick green or smith in this regard. granted, there were few holes to hit, thus the jury is still out. trust me, i want derrick green to be amazing, i just haven't seen evidence to support that he will be.
|29 weeks 1 day ago||wow, i stand corrected. 1||
wow, i stand corrected. 1 carry for 5 yards. he's a world beater for sure.
look, i'm not closing the door on his career, just stating that he has been disappointing to this point. he almost always goes down after first contact, and he clearly failed to impress in practices enough to overtake a relatively ineffective starting rb. didn't help that he wasn't motivated enough to arrive to fall camp in shape.
i was hoping for more, especially when rb is the one skill position that a freshman can make a real impact.
like i said, hopefully an indictment of our oline and not his actual potential, but boy it is frustrating to watch rbs that are much lower in talent coming out of high school being much more solid contributors on teams with average olines.

derrick green = kevin grady, part II? i really hope this year was just a symptom of terrible offensive line play, and that this rb can actually play. why do we only seem to get the underachieving 5 stars? big will campbell, anyone?

i believe in santa and easter bunny more than this joke of a coaching staff. mattison really disappointed me. can't really blame borges on this one. he didn't call a spectacular game, but he did have one hand tied behind his back with gardner out.

very true--i admit that due to this team's on field performances, i am reduced to finding articles that still drum up the importance of the game from a historical perspective. 2006 was sooo damn long ago. it is hard to imagine ever being so excited for the game again.

the uk vs msu game is a tough one for me to watch. too bad they both can't lose the game tonight!
|35 weeks 6 days ago||if you think my relatively||
if you think my relatively minimal comment on borges is going to alienate a player as smart as hand or peppers, you must think that those two players cannot read the rest of the board posts that are screaming for borges' firing. but the fact remains, borges has a lot of talent that he hasn't figured out what to do with. the defense, on the other hand, while not world-beaters, does show signs of talent development. facts are facts. hand is smart enough to see that he will get good defensive coaching. my post on borges won't determine where hand goes, so i suggest you chill out.
|35 weeks 6 days ago||good news is that both of||
good news is that both of these guys play defense, and i am fairly sure that brady and mattison won't squander their talents the way borges has with the offense.

nick saban took a terrible bama team and had them undefeated in the regular season in year 2 and national champions in year 3.
no one is holding hoke to that standard, but don't give me just wait 2 more years garbage so he can get his guys.
