he's a solid coach but a spectacular recruiter.
he's done a great job with an under-the-radar program that was a tire fire when he was hired.
i just don't see him at michigan, though.
talent is not the issue at michigan, it is actual coaching. doc holliday's success is related to his ability to inject talent into a program deficient of it. michigan is getting plenty of talent. we just need a coach who knows what to do with it and develop it accordingly.

i used to think we should have traded that old Carr for one with Les Miles, but maybe Martin was right all along with the hot Rod.

john l smith has sort of shown up...nuss was on john l's staff back in the day. we may be looking at him as our interim coach, just as john l served after bobby williams' ouster

sorry, you have embarrassed yourself with your post.
a head coach cannot keep deferring responsibility. at some point, he needs to have a clue what is going on the field. he is paid handsomely to know what is going on the field. his responses have been comical.
this is not an excuse to fire hoke. most of us had already made up our minds that he needed to go at the end of the season. it is that he is damaging michigan (and players' health) by staying on any longer.
we need him to go now so that we can all move on and so that we can have some dignity left as a program that holds those entrusted with the well-being of who hoke himself calls his "sons" accountable for their gross negligence.

cbs sports has picked this up, referencing mgoblog's videos with a link at the bottom of the article.
this issue is so important, and hoke cannot be given a pass on it. he (and brandom) needs to go now.

dude, that was a helmet to helmet hit, and was by definition targeting. he launched his helmet at morris's chin. with all due respect, i think it is really hard to argue that roughing the passer flag was enough.

unacceptable that the refs didn't eject him for targeting. they actually should be reprimanded/suspended for their gaffe by the big ten office, but i am sure they won't be

saban also has an asterisk. he had a brief cameo as the miami dolphins headcoach, but left mid-season to take the reigns of alabama.
that was before stephen ross bought miami

david brandon is completely out of touch.
bill martin may have been a tad hands off, but he never marginalized the michigan experience just to make a quick buck. the worst he did was upgrade the stadium (which was direly needed) and try to upgrade the product on the field (you know, the real thing that brings fans into the stadium; not drones, fireworks, jetpacks, flyovers, skywriting, etc). while the upgrade to the product on the field did not work out, brandon has managed to downgrade nearly everything about the michigan experience, including the lack of respect in interactions with alumni and fans.

don't be so snarky to the OP. while i admit these types of threads are annoying, the fact that you are on here reading this thread means you are dying for michigan football content. don't attack the guy who created content for you to consume.

i thought the site was down because of some breaking news about hoke resigining in shame which crashed the server. i was sad to find out it was some other network glitch.
|25 weeks 5 days ago||i know this may sound too||
i know this may sound too conspiracy theory-ish, but it feels very coincidental that the one game mcgary dressed for (even though he had no chance of playing) he got "randomly" chosen to take a drug test. almost like someone was looking to screw him. add in the unwillingness to alter the one-year ban (even though it had just been revised to 1/2 a year), and you wonder about someone with a michigan axe to grind being involved.
oh wait, sorry, that's just the paranoia from the weed i just smoked talking

this is the trouble with poor defense. when we go cold, we look terrible. hopefully we shake it off, but purdue's defense looks really good so far.

f jalen is a little harsh, but i agree he needs to get off the fab 5 soapbox. michigan basketball is back. just be happy about it, and stop bringing up the fab 5!!!

|39 weeks 1 day ago||increasing sample size||
increasing sample size improves precision. if the accuracy of each measure is off, it does not improve accuracy. however, if one measure is systematically off (like rivals could be since it seems to be an outlier) it is often best to exclude that point since it is introducing the greatest error.
so, you might actually argue that rival's being so much further off than the other sites is actually making the composite score worse than it really is. one should conclude that there is either a systematic bias against michigan with the rivals rankings or that there is a systematic bias for michigan by the other three. no one can know for sure, but the first scenario is more likely unless you can prove that rivals performance with respect to michigan has consistently been better and the other consistently worse.

i thought this was 2014, not 2013!
seriously, though, this stuff works itself out. kid looks like a stud, but if he is not coming here because of al borges, then so be it.

that game single-handedly made my little cousin no longer interested in michigan football. he ultimately decided to go to unc and became a basketball fan.

i think he goes by EFWolverine in the lesser known but similarly named umgoblog, where he is a frequent poster and handles recruiting.

i do think we should be ranked based on our record (even with the bad charlotte loss), but in the end, basketball rankings are unimportant until ncaa seeding (and even then they take a back seat to other metrics)

|42 weeks 3 days ago||yes, you are right. a bad||
yes, you are right. a bad oline is hard for a freshman rb to shine with. that's why i said i hope it is a reflection of the oline and not his true potential.
ask any football expert and they will tell you that running back is the one position that a talented true freshman can consistently contribute in. mike hart, marshall faulk, tj yeldon, adrian peterson, ron dayne, even crazy ass maurice clarett all excelled as true freshman. the one thing each of them had was decisiveness, an ability to hit a hole hard and fast, and an ability to keep their feet moving after contact so that they nearly always gained yards. the oline is responsible for the first few yards, the rb for yards after that. in limited action, i failed to see anything that promising from either derrick green or smith in this regard. granted, there were few holes to hit, thus the jury is still out. trust me, i want derrick green to be amazing, i just haven't seen evidence to support that he will be.
|42 weeks 3 days ago||wow, i stand corrected. 1||
wow, i stand corrected. 1 carry for 5 yards. he's a world beater for sure.
look, i'm not closing the door on his career, just stating that he has been disappointing to this point. he almost always goes down after first contact, and he clearly failed to impress in practices enough to overtake a relatively ineffective starting rb. didn't help that he wasn't motivated enough to arrive to fall camp in shape.
i was hoping for more, especially when rb is the one skill position that a freshman can make a real impact.
like i said, hopefully an indictment of our oline and not his actual potential, but boy it is frustrating to watch rbs that are much lower in talent coming out of high school being much more solid contributors on teams with average olines.

derrick green = kevin grady, part II? i really hope this year was just a symptom of terrible offensive line play, and that this rb can actually play. why do we only seem to get the underachieving 5 stars? big will campbell, anyone?

i believe in santa and easter bunny more than this joke of a coaching staff. mattison really disappointed me. can't really blame borges on this one. he didn't call a spectacular game, but he did have one hand tied behind his back with gardner out.
