At this point, all of this is self-solving.

The Big Ten has looked so strong (and the Big12 and ND so weak) that the Big Ten champ is a lock for the Playoff, even with a loss.

The polls are irrelevant to us now.  It's all about winning the Big Ten.  The polls will take care of themselves when that happens.

FSU might be a little overrated, but they didn't just lose...they were dominated in every phase of the game. Louisville looks the part as long as Jackson stays healthy. Plenty of time this year for them to prove they belong with the big boys, they still have games against Houston and Clemson. I'll say this, after the way we started yesterday against Colorado with Liufau in the game I wouldn't want to see Jackson or Louisville anytime soon.

Typically, I am very wary of the Coaches Poll because it is asking people who have precious little time to watch other games to rank teams, but at least they had the good sense - well, most of them - to ditch Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Oregon this time around.

Oregon deserved to lose, quite honestly - going for two, what, five times and only converting once AND only losing by three?

Because NDSU has won 5 consecutive FCS Championships in dominating fashion, and they are 6-0 against FBS teams in that stretch. Honestly, NDSU could probably hang with the lower half of the AP Top-25 teams. They just don't have enough depth to last a whole season in the FBS, but on a game-by-game basis, they're good enough for a major upset on any given day.

Yeah, I remember that too.  It was the first time in history that a team went from Top 5 to unranked in one week.

I'm still scarred.

It will probably never happen again.  Everybody is so used to these kinds of upsets that a Top 5 team that lost like that would probably still stay ranked.

People are realizing that these teams like NDSU and App State '07 are really legit Top 25 teams themselves.

If NDSU moved to the Big Ten, they'd be a really solid team. At least middle of the pack, maybe the occasional 9-10 win year depending on schedule breaks.

Hell, if they were in the Big Ten West this year, they'd be a very legitimate divisional contender. They just beat Iowa. I think they could beat Wisconsin and Nebraska too, and put legitimate scares into most every team in the East too.

Unbelievable how well-coached and well-run that program is. Saban and Alabama can't hold a candle to what has been done at NDSU. Five straight national titles at any level is unheard of and unprecedented. And getting anyone to want to spend four years of their lives in Fargo, North Dakota is a job unto itself.

I'd bump Stanford, Houston, and Sparty up and move UM to #8.

MSU has a more balanced offense at this point.

Houston is good, but not sure they are top 5. Oklahoma looked like a train wreck yesterday. How is Baker Mayfield considered great? Get pressure on the guy and he's completely wild
