Michigan falling with Treadwell, ND rising

...per video interview with Josh Helmholdt on Rivals. He's not "feeling the love" from UM anymore. Weird recruitment.

I'd love to have him for four years, but i'm tired of his recruitment.  I'm sure he's a great kid, but I like the guys that know what they want and make a decision.

So just because he doesn't know yet, you're ready to toss him to the curb?  That's just dumb.  So he wasn't ready to make up his mind 8-10 months prior to signing day like the rest of the class.  Big deal.  He's taking his time, checking all available options, and then making a decision.  He doens't have to decide anything until Feb.  If anything, by taking his time and exploring all his options, he's handling his recruitment smarter than most.  But label him an attention whore and drama queen if you must.

I'm not throwing him to the curb; in fact, I say that I want him for four years. However, i'm tired of every recruiting article and call to Sam Webb asking for a Treadwell update.  Just stop talking about him until he commits.

My other point is still valid.  I like the guys that look at their schools and decide, even if it's not for Michigan.

Conley knows he can play wide receiver... but unfortunately he committed too soon and wants to take visits now, or at least his mom really wants him to take visits.  Treadwell always loved the attention of the process, so this new development is not surprising.  Green on the other hand always stated that he will let the process play out, and the fact that 2 of his top choices will probably be losing their head coaches in the near future, is making him reassess everything.

Green always maintained that, although according to sources he was considering committing during the BBQ... Treadwell was dropping hints that he might commit to Michigan a while ago and then backed off... then he was dropping hints about Florida... he is the type who likes the attention, so it is not surprising that he wants "more love" from Michigan.

Yes the fact that he didn't commit at the BBQ shows how much he has maintained he is going to take his time and has been truthful. He didn't let the BBQ sway him to a decision too soon and therefore isn't having second thoughts like some kids have. The rest of your post is.....I don't know. Think you are thinking of Dawson.

To him, hope he picks the right school, we will get somebody else if he doesn't commit. Every year there is a receiver like him, last year it was burbridge, next year there will be someone else.

Is it just me or do we rarely get these big recruits that draw out this process and seem wishy washy for lack of a better word?  That's the feeling I get, which is why I doubt we get Treadwell or Green.  These just don't seem to go our way, although the chances would say they don't go in any one team's way due to the many offers they have and only one place they go.  Usuallly if it walks like a duck, it's a duck.  When guys wanna be here they are.  If there is rumors swirling they have interest elsewhere, they are wavering in a committment, they take a long time to decide where to commit, etc. it's because they aren't committed to us!  They are merely moderately interested in us.  Anwyays...I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, but both schools desperately need a stud running back.  That won't change regardless of who is coaching there.  Both are still in the SEC, both will recruit well regardless of record, and both should attrach a top flight coach so the future at both of those schools is much brighter than their current dismal state would imply.

As long as Saban and Miles are in their division the future is not that bright for Auburn.  Plus Texas A&M looks like they are going to be pretty good.  Auburn has a highly rated running back already committed.  Plus we have seen what changing a coach does to that year's recruiting class.

If it is all but guaranteed that they will end up with great coaches, how did they end up with such terrible coaches?  Of course they can only go up in the long run, but that doesn't mean that they will end up with great coaches this time around or that it won't take a while for them to get back to where they want to be.

Also, while we have some capable backs, it is not like anybody has a stranglehold on the RB position.

Green is slightly different because we cooled on him during the Ty hysteria. He is fully justified to weigh all options and ensure UM's interest is concrete this time. In general, though, fully agree that Hoke & company don't win the high drama recruits - I suspect Hoke's blunt and consistent approach doesn't sufficiently satisfy the "I'm special" types. No one recruit in particular ...

Yeah we seem to lose them but we suffered through 3 really bad seasons, it's pretty amazing we're even sniffing top 5 classes back to back. Once this program starts rolling again, we can complain about missing out on the studs

We want him because he appears to be the means to fulfill our need for a fast possession receiver - ie, he will make the team much better. I wonder if the need also has a criterion of a "team first" approach. I dont know if Tread is or isn't but Hoke seems to prioritize this criterion. History is littered with programs decimated by 5 stars trying to supersede the team.

I think that is least relevant with the WR position. Sure, the attitude of a QB can determine much on a football team (see: Pryor, Terelle). But neither Braylong nor Manningham were "great guys," and yet they were absolutely fine at completing the task of running fast and catching balls.

I don't know. If any WR we are recruiting hasn't seen ole Devin Gardner play the last two weeks, and watch how the offense has become a vertical threat, not sure what else we can do to woo them.

It sucks, but ND is having a special year and we look, as well as the BIG, to be a bit mediocre. The "what have you done for me lately" crowd will always prefer the shiny thing verses the steel.

Remember these are high school kids. I'm pretty sure none of us got the attention that these kids get on a daily basis. I didn't know what school I wanted to go to coming out of HS and I didn't have coaches calling me every single day. If we get him, great. If not, I'm sure it isn't for lack of attention.

Also, call me crazy but aren't these recruiting sites in business to make a buck, which means page clicks. Just like the latest election, somebody poke me on Feb 6th if does commit.

Remember when people would be all like"This feels like Diamond's recruitment" and then a bunch of people would be all like"This is totally different." Well this is like the Diamond recruitment.

I don't know why everyone thinks he will step in and contribute next year or that we are desperate for WR help. Do we want him because he's good? Of course. Do we bring back Dileo, Gallon, Funchess, and pretty much every WR not named Roundtree, including 2 talented freshmen who we haven't seen yet? Yes, we do.

...love, eh? What sort of love is he expecting? He has a scholarship offer. I don't think the coaches can promise anything more than that.

Talented kid and I'm sure he'll make some team better, but give me a break with all of the drama.

Avant/Breaston/Edwards tandem of WR's been? OH how I feel like I've taken those years for granted... :(.  Now we just want ONE solid one. Come forth Treadwell and bathe in the maize and blue.

This annoys me, he is and has had us as #1 since day one. But all along I feel like he is looking for a reason to either find a new so called leader that w shower him. Now I hope I'm wrong cause he and McQuay have been my 2 favorite recruits besides Dymonte all year. I hope he realizes that The UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN is a LIFE decision and not just 3-4 years of there football lives. I wish I could sit down with these kids and talk to them about the future etc. Tread I hope you realize that Michigan has real feelings about you as a person off the field as much as on the field.

GO BLUE BOYZ!
