Absolutely the right call to go for two. Devin hobbling limited the play calling and the option route from Dileo sealed the game vs. ND...same call opposite side of the field.

Under .500 when hired and an OC who worked for Dinardo. Why anyone is surprised with this fiasco is beyond me. Lloyd coaching linneage Hoke, English, DeBord...do I need to go on! Loving the Michigan tradition does not ensure success.

The players deserve better. Poor choice 3 years ago and we are seeing the results of hiring a coach with a 47 and 50 record.

Unfortunately, the only change we'll see next year is the blitz packages we cannot handle will come off the edge versus up the middle. We have a coach who was hired with a sub .500 record and while he has recruited well, he's stuck in mediocrity. 4 million a year should get better outcomes!

The defense is the least of our worries. Still not sure why we never change calls when our blitz packages are revealed and the offenses stop, call it out and audible.

This is the product of a 47 and 50 head coaching hire coupled with a Dinardo offensive coordinator. Also appears Mattison is getting a look at all the freshman with Taco, Stribling, Thomas and Lewis seeing meaningful minutes.

I am right there with you. I thought Hoke was a mediocre hire and still do! I am neither impressed with his record nor his demeanor. We all love Michigan and are passionate about its football, but that alone does not qualify us to coach the team.
I hold out hope but mediocrity ala Lloyd is the best we can expect.

Another 50+ assistant on Hoke's all star cast! You are what your record says you are...47 and 50. So I guess we did get an elite coach, at least by Lloyds tree standards!

IMO, if Michigan were an elite job, Brady Hoke would not be its coach. You are what your record says you are...47 and 50!

I harbor no ill will past or present. I enjoy the fact based approach of Brian and his commentary. Unfortunately, I am not sold on the new hire and there is not much that will convince me otherwise.
Regardless the number of former players and coaches lining up to provide accolades, what we have is a coach with three winning seasons, an overall losing record from a weak coaching tree. Is he a likable, hard working guy, I suppose so. Will he give you everything he has, I suppose so. Will it be enough to compete for Big Ten Titles and NC's, not in my lifetim( I am old).
Had the coaching trunk Lloyd been a good enough manager/leader to establish a solid, results oriented coaching tree, Rich Rod would still be flourishing in WV. He didn't and hiring the best of a worst lot has never been a prescription for success. Let's hope Hoke is at least is smart enough to surround himself with a quality staff, capable of taking the next step in a few years.
I will continue to support the young men and women who participate in Michigan athletics, but please don't ask me to blindly follow the chorus of former players and coaches saluting this hire as a wonderful thing. Where were they three years ago?
|2 years 47 weeks ago||Certainly happy for Mike and||
Certainly happy for Mike and support all the young men and women who particpate in Michigan athletics. Program is at a tipping point and I hope all the Carr cronies are happy with a hard working, nice guy with average to below coaching results.

I hope passion and old guard support can compensate for average to below coaching credentials.
|2 years 47 weeks ago||A press conference is not||
A press conference is not going to move my opinion. The kids that play for Michigan deserve much better than this. The old guard is happy and the marketing spin is in full turn but the reality remains we hired a coach with one winning season in the MAC and less than .500 winning percentage. Now this is change I cannot believe in!
