META: MGoReunion Event? Feedback Requested

I’ve been talking to various sponsors, friends of the blog, and a guy who organizes college football road trips about putting together an overnight event/tailgate next fall, pandemic-permitting.

We’re not even sure yet if we’d want to do this in Ann Arbor or for a road game (that’s one of the questions), but it would be out-of-towners, with a hotel, group tickets, an exclusive event on Friday, food that Adam Schnepp has never tasted, a tailgate Saturday morning, and time when you can go off and do your own thing.

It is not some trick to drag a bunch of MGoBlog friends and sponsors into an elaborate ploy between my best friend and me to get his Georgia wife to a Michigan football weekend; I really don’t know where you got that idea. I also can’t guarantee I won’t get a little bit emotional at some point if we manage to bring this community together in-person after the last 2 years.

Anyway if we’re doing this we wanted to get an idea of who’d be interested, whom you think you would want to drag into it, and whom it should be geared towards. You can also let us know if you have any ideas we should incorporate into the event that we haven’t thought of, or use that question to request the hummus be cat-free.

I would love to see you face to face.  Not to do you one ounce of physical harm, but to see if you can be tough enough to say what you say to me and others in my physical presence.

Away at Iowa 10/1? I’m going anyway as my son (recent grad) just got a job in Iowa City. It’ll still be nice weather, and another chance to show those Hawkeyes who’s boss.

Edit: all kidding aside, I'm in for almost any home game (other than the Illinois game, my niece is getting married that day [unfortunately her dad is a sparty but what else can be said?]).

Of the three listed road games, I'm already tentatively planning on a trip to Iowa but am open to any of the options.
