This will be the repository for hot takes regarding the offense and offensive playcalling.

Corum drove piles and defenders back with aggressive runs.  He "lowered the shoulder" as Chris Fowler yells out during broadcast.  He is developing into the short yardage back before our eyes but don't sleep because he will submarine you for a long TD as well.  The guy looked really good today.

Felt like a basketball game where the open threes don't go down. There were open shots, we just missed them. It'd be more discouraging if there wasn't a clear path for improvement. Coaching-wise, I think we should've worked the play action and play action rollout game more -- especially with Corum getting like 10 yards a pop first half. Felt like there was a big running back screen play to be had as well, but we never tried. Maybe bc Edwards was out. But if the defense is going to drop 7 or 8, let those LBs and DBs eat a convoy of big boys and see if Corum can slalom through.

Thank you for pointing out the lack of WR screens.  I couldn't figure out what was missing that we had seen before.  Maryland effectively used screens all game and pounded us over the head with them.  We did not, even though they were probably our most consistent play over the first three games.

And it's not like this was the type of game that the coaches had any room to say "let's tinker a little".

Bad playing calling.

The drive at the end of the 3rd into the 4th was only good called drive.

Corum was great

O-line was good

Tight Ends good.

Wr were average

Jj was average

Jj was average

The funny thing about this is that JJ outplayed Taulia who people consider solid and also if Cade put up the same stat line, people would say he played well. He was 18/26 for 220 and 2 TDs. There is definitely room for improvement, he still did some freshman stuff, and missed some throws deep, but overall had a solid game

A lot posters on here won’t agree, but this stat line as absolutely more impressive than a similar stat line we’ve seen from cade. JJ extended plays and kept his eyes downfield. He didn’t have any “oh shit” throws. All of his misses except for the one to Andrel were deep shots. Cade’s statline would be that with flea flickers and check downs.

The loss of edwards seems to hurt more than anticipated.  He brings an additional wrinkle to the offense.  Make no mistake.  This is Corums team.  Period.

Experience will do that. The reviewed play they ruled was a fumble and not incomplete is the perfect example. I don’t think we’ll see him do that again.

His deep ball needs more air, but I was glad to see them call it and was glad he kept pushing it even after the first 5 or 6 fell incomplete.

His short and even intermediate passing (minus that last pass that was nearly picked) was quite good today.

They're definitely alarming, but think about even how much growth he's had in that area since last season. Last season it was like every other drop back he'd do that, but in this game he only did it like ~3 times the whole game. I'd like to see it be zero, but it's growth and that growth should be faster since he's the starter

Something seemed to happen at halftime and JJ stopped keeping it on running plays.  Corum had a monster game anyway, but could have been even more efficient if we had the threat of JJ's legs, too.

BC is a stud. Great game for JJ to learn. He learned and he led the team in the fourth quarter to win it. Everyone wanted to see how this team will perform against a legit team and they did decent. Hats off to MD. I thought their OL did a great job.

The game was 100% in doubt until we went up 15 points with 3:31 remaining in the 4th quarter.  And the missed opportunity was Michigan stopping them on the next drive and putting the game away on offense.  The last 3:31 is the part of the game that gives me some pause.  It was still Michigan's two-deep playing.  Yes, we were certainly bend but don't break but we broke...TWICE...in the red zone.

In the past 15 years (not counting last season) this game likely would have resulted in a gut punch loss. Even on an off day, this team is talented enough to pull out the win. May they learn from their mistakes, clean them up and improve. Let's Go Blue and beat the Hawkeyes!

It was nice knowing Haskins was going to pick up 2-3 yards on every 3rd or 4th and short. While Corum’s I’m just going to score a TD take is a little unorthodox, I think I prefer it.

Blake Corum has filled the Hassan Haskins void! Roman Wilson did his thing and had a TD pass. JJ scrambled well but miss too many deep passes. Can't forget Schoonmaker as he was gem on offense.

A lot to be desired but they still scored 34 points.
