Goodbye, Jim.

Nice to…

Goodbye, Jim.

Nice to have you with us, Sherrone.

Love it. Let's go Blue!

Love it. Let's go Blue!

Awesome. Glad that the…

Awesome. Glad that the uncertainty is over and I'm excited to see how Moore does.

It's information from…

It's information from Harbaugh's attorneys, whose job it is to represent him in the best possible light.

I agree with you. What's in…

I agree with you. What's in Harbaugh's interest is not necessarily in the university's interest.

The more that I think about…

The more that I think about it, the less convinced that I am (and I wasn't much convinced to begin with) that Michigan is failing to "show the love" to Harbaugh. There's too much that we don't know about the contract negotiations between Harbaugh and the university, so what we do hear is "insider"-sourced speculation. What we do know is that Harbaugh is at Michigan in part because because the 49ers ownership and front office wanted him out and that he's shown interest in going back to the NFL multiple times since taking the Michigan head coaching job.

The NFL is where he really wants to be. None of that is to take away from what Harbaugh has achieved at Michigan. Winning the NC and going 15-0 will likely not be repeated for years to come, if ever. I'm glad that Harbaugh has coached here. I wish him the best in whatever he decides to do. But there comes a point where nothing Michigan can offer will get Harbaugh to where he wants to be, and we may have reached that point. I don't blame the university, Warde Manuel, or Harbaugh for any of that. Let Jim make his choice and the Michigan program will move on.

He needs to do it soon so…

He needs to do it soon so that the university can move forward on finding a new head coach if Harbaugh decides to leave.

Thank you for sharing this…

Thank you for sharing this with us, Ace.

If J.J. goes to the NFL, I…

If J.J. goes to the NFL, I wish him all the best. That said, I think another season at Michigan would improve his draft prospects. Maybe not.

I'd love for Harbaugh to…

I'd love for Harbaugh to stay. That said, his interests and the university's interests are not always the same. I'm not sure how far Harbaugh wants the university to go in order to show the love, but there's a point where the university can't endanger itself for his sake.

Screw the SEC. I want…

Screw the SEC. I want Michigan to have nothing to do with them, except beat them.

I was thinking of the dark…

I was thinking of the dark days of the late 00's and early 10's, when Michigan was flat out bad. Then Michigan got less bad, but couldn't quite make it over the hump against Ohio State and other teams in the top echelon of college football.

I was thinking of the voices of the naysayers and critics:

"Michigan is arrogant"

"Michigan thinks they're better than they are"

"Michigan isn't relevant anymore, and their fans just don't know it"

And, for a while, some of that may have been true. Slowly, but surely, however, the wheels turned, and Michigan began to compete - until bowl season. Then the naysayers and critics came back:

"Michigan losers again"

"Nobody wants to play there"

And, for a while, some of that may have been true.

Then the 2023 season. No lack of naysayers and critics, all season long. But Michigan kept winning and winning.

Now, here we are, and Michigan is the national champion.

And the critics? I don't hear a sound.

1. No plate yet, but I've got a vodka & Squirt going on in my glass.

2. I'll say U-M wins 38-31.

3. I'm watching the game at home until I have to go to my tutoring appointments, so I won't be able to see the entire game. I'm in Husky land, too, so that will be fun.

Alabama's been grayshirting…

Alabama's been grayshirting for years, but I guess that's just college football, right?

To be Scrupulously Fair, I…

To be Scrupulously Fair, I have to say that I was impressed with how clean the Michigan-Ohio State game was this year. No stupid personal fouls or dirty plays. OSU generally does that less than, say, MSU, and I know that's a low bar, but still.

Finebaum was giving Michigan…

Finebaum was giving Michigan more credit for winning than Stephen A. Smith, who said that Alabama lost the game more than Michigan won it. That raised my eyebrows.

I live in Seattle and I attended UW for grad school. Go Dawgs!

I'm drinking a glass of chenin blanc from Man Cellars in South Africa. Great wine for the price.

Food is leftover penne marinara bake from last night.

He really has no business…

He really has no business being the commissioner of a major athletic conference, or any athletic conference, for that matter.

Tonight might be an anomaly.

Tonight might be an anomaly.

If you watch/listen to Klatt…

If you watch/listen to Klatt's podcast, he's very respectful of Michigan and hasn't piled on re: Signgate like ESPN has.

Even he couldn’t hold back…

Even he couldn’t hold back the waves.

Michigan went through losing…

Michigan went through losing seven in a row, then eight in a row after a win in 2011.

They can deal with it.

Has Thamel ever been a…

Has Thamel ever been a Michigan fan in Ohio Stadium?

Yes.

Yes.

"We shouldn't have had to…

"We shouldn't have had to play you anyway" doesn't exactly show confidence in your team.

Unfortunately, I think the …

Unfortunately, I think the "cheaters" label is going to hang around for a while. No amount of Michigan wins will make it go away, because of how it's been reported, and any Michigan loss will be seen as proof that the team is a fraud.

Seriously. I know that…

Seriously. I know that Michigan - Ohio State is the game, but OSU is a perennial contender for the Big Ten championship and the national championship. It's not like they're having losing seasons like Michigan did.

That pressure from the…

That pressure from the outside on McCord made that interception. Almost a sack.

The touchdown on the first…

The touchdown on the first play after Zak went out of the game, for me, was the key play for Michigan. OSU had been stuffing the run up to that point, and to come back like that after your best offensive lineman goes out was huge.

Gotta say that I was holding…

Gotta say that I was holding my breath after not getting the first down on the last offensive series for Michigan.

J.J. keeps it classy with a…

J.J. keeps it classy with a shout out to OSU.

No! It was the signs!

No! It was the signs!

They got spoiled by OSU's…

They got spoiled by OSU's success, especially against Michigan, and they figure that they're entitled to beat Michigan every year. So when they lose, it had to be for some reason other than Michigan played better.*

*I actually do know a couple of OSU fans who are not like this. They do exist.

They're gonna find something…

They're gonna find something. How much they find and how high it goes has yet to be determined.

"That's Chris Floyd, he's…

"That's Chris Floyd, he's 235 pounds and he is a load."

I know it's only one game,…

I know it's only one game, but I feel like we've seen this before: Michigan cruises most of the season, has one or two tough games at the end, then doesn't look ready for the postseason games. I hope that's not true this year.

I'm glad that the defense…

I'm glad that the defense came up big when it needed to, but they don't look ready for the CFP.

Took a nasty hit to the head.

Took a nasty hit to the head.

And OSU spends 30 days in…

And OSU spends 30 days in the hole.

Honestly, I feel too let…

Honestly, I feel too let down by the self-styled insiders who were telling us that more “dirt” on others was coming down the pipeline. Even if I want to believe it, I don’t think that the dirt is there, and I don’t think anyone would care if there were. At least not now.

Stalions made a wrong choice, got caught and in so doing, fucked the program. The punishment is coming and the narrative around all of this isn’t going to change. Just win on the field. That’s it.

A lot of what Isaiah Hole…

A lot of what Isaiah Hole was claiming or suggesting struck me as too good to be true. It just seemed a little too convenient that Michigan would have something that would turn all of this around. I think he figured the sign-trading evidence (if there even is any) before the 2022 Big Ten Championship game would get more traction than it did. No one cares about that now and no one will care about that in the future.

As for the bad PR, I don't think that we can assume that OSU is behind it, at least not without more information. Hole says that Michigan believes OSU is behind it, but without more, it's just belief. Regardless, Stalions made that bad PR possible when he did what he did. Michigan gave its rivals an in, and now Michigan is going to pay the price for it.

Agreed. I didn't like the…

Agreed. I didn't like the suspension, of course, but for me the more significant issue is the novel interpretation of the sportsmanship rule that justified an arbitrary punishment against someone for which there is, as of yet, no evidence that the person punished did the act that drew the punishment. I'm not really buying the "we're actually punishing the team" reasoning, since it's being directed at a single individual.

I happened to watch a clip…

I happened to watch a clip on YouTube of something called The Matt Barrie Show, which is somehow affiliated with ESPN, in which the host and Paul Finebaum spent a good 5-6 minutes offering "commentary" that was nothing more than mocking 1) the image of U-M as an institution, 2) the Michigan fanbase as "sniveling", "insecure", etc., and 3) Sherrone Moore's post-game interview ("Last time I checked, Jim Harbaugh was still alive" - real comedy gold there). It was some of the most disingenuous, petty, and shallow commentary I've seen. I didn't expect much from Finebaum, but he was even more in jerk mode than he's been on other ESPN shows. As for Barrie, I hadn't heard of him before today, and I think that I was a better person for not knowing who he was.

I'll take the win, but that…

I'll take the win, but that was way too close than it needed to be. Lions aren't going very far with that kind of defense.

The NCAA is going to drop…

The NCAA is going to drop another hammer. I don't see how it can do otherwise. For me, the question is when? Does the NCAA assess penalties starting next season, or does it act this season under some kind of "this extreme act requires action now" kind of reasoning?

I'd also like to know why…

I'd also like to know why signals decoded in-game is less dangerous to opposing players than signals decoded via scouting.

I hope so. It just seems to…

I hope so. It just seems to me that the way the narrative on this is going, no Michigan wins will be sufficient to dispel any suspicion surrounding the team (and Harbaugh in particular), and any loss will be seen as definitive proof of Michigan's perfidy.

1. Can Michigan prove it?

1. Can Michigan prove it?

2. If Michigan can, what difference would it make?
