I've been grilling on charcoal for going on 30 years. I echo the following concepts already mentioned:
- 2 zone fire ; use the direct/indirect approach
- Lighter fluid is a hard no all accounts
- Getting the fire going (either chimney starter or electric wand) takes time. The building of a fire and getting it up to temp is not a sprint. Give yourself plenty of runway. Sometimes it takes longer sometimes it doesn't. It's a great opportunity to step out of the chaos of the house (with cocktails in hand) and say , "Welp I oughta go get that fire going"..... You can't rush these things.... Your fire dictates the pace of the rest of the meal...whatever is happening with the sides from the kitchen need to fall in line; not lead the pack....
- As for specifics of what to grill....basically anything that used to walk , fly, or swim is open for experimentation.
At this point...why does any school even bother to "self report" anything? Seriously... The NCAA , as we currently know it, is on it's deathbed. They have how many lawsuits pending? The state of Tennessee has basically told them the fuck off... It's gonna be the Big 2 (SEC/BIG) and the "Next 2" (ACC/Big12) paving their own way moving forward. I'm really confused why some schools care about "NCAA violations" while the majority of others don't...and shouldn't....
That would've been amazing to see. Steady Eddie was taken for granted (I think). Also to be replaced by Hanson... The Lions were spoiled for 2 decades ish with kickers...
I met Willie Green, and Chris Spielman back in feb/March of 91 or 92 (can’t remember the year) I was in high school and the lions were touring the state playing charity games against teachers. It was very much like a globe trotters game.
The whole town jammed the gym that cold night. I got to let the players into the locker room as they arrived and hung out a little with them Spielman showed up in a grey hoodie with a huge dip under his lip Willie green had a track suit on but some amazing gold chains and a ridiculous watch from my memory All good guys generally seemed happy to be spending time in small town mid Michigan
Jerry ball was there , though I didn’t meet him. But Ball stole the show. He drained a shot from about 3 steps inside of half court and then wowed the crowd with a two handed dunk. Spielman ran around the gym with an OSU flag and was booed mercilessly. All in good fun. At halftime they signed autographs and the lines were endless. I don’t remember the other players that played but those three left an impression.
These options aren’t great. It’s probably a combination of the two but also I lay a lot of this on the actions of the NCAA this past season. The cheeseburger suspension and the utter nonsense of sign investigation likely play a big role as well. Will they ever disclose who sent them the initial pre-packaged “investigation”? I’m not holding my breath. I don’t blame JH at all for bouncing out. If he chooses. The man has done enough.
Seriously. Desmond. Best player in the field. Returned punts. Woodson. Same. Why oh why don’t we have Edwards or CJ or Wilson returning punts. This is so stupid.
Maybe. He could roll an ankle. I dunno. Strange things happen. Maybe #4 tees off on him on some weird scramble when they are up 49-21. I think he’s the only one that is capable of touching anyone on purpose.
I totally co-sign on that at bat being among the greatest of Tigers history. I'm pretty sure I watched that live as a 10 year old because I watched pretty much watched.all of the games on TV in 84 that were available. During my formative years I was ready to ride or die for Kell/Kaline and Harwell/Carey. Because those were the echos of my childhood.
Spent many hours mimicking that batting stance as a kid. Also I'd listen to George Kell read the phone book if he were still around today... "Look out for the Kansas City ball club, they are playing pretty well right now".... Every team was that city/state ball club... Classic George Kell.
The trade that brought Willie to Detroit was Glenn Wilson and John Wockenfuss for Dave Bergman and Willie Hernandez.
At the start of spring training that year (84) Sparky had insisted that the Tigers could win the division if he had a solid left handed relief pitcher. GM Bill Lajoie worked the phones and pulled off the deal towards the end of spring training. Willie ends up appearing in nearly half of their games that season and impacted 41 wins. Also Bergman turned out to have a good glove at first base and if memory serves, had some timely hits along the way.
Perfect response. Basically saying the media needs to sit down and color while the adults sort this out. It’s gonna take a minute. But process matters.
This is not news. Hell we changed our signals from game to game in High School in both baseball and football. Yep we used dummy signals too... Good Lord this is one big eye roll.
Heading up to the Soo for a noon funeral. Planning on getting back to TC before kickoff. Not the way I wanted to spend the day. But life happens. Considering circumstances I shouldn’t complain. Cheers boys.
This song was after my time. I’m squarely in Gen X (shout out class of 93) so this was never in my wheel house. I fully support it though and the kids can hang out on my lawn and belt it out every Saturday.

I’ve been looking for the guy on the grassy knoll. Is that also in the UFR?

Don’t forget the punters:
Tom Skladany (OK he’s a buckeye but so was speilman)
Jim Arnold

Still here...........................
The team the team the team.
144 cheers.
I started reading during the LC retirement and subsequent coaching search.
Basically I came for the rumors and stayed for the shenanigans that followed...

You play Bamas game. This is what you get. Michigan dictated the game early. But. This is now how Bama likes to play. SMDH.
My fear is that JJ will not be fully plugged into the running game and also a lack of play action will doom the effort. I hope I'm wrong.
41-17 Texas
29-12 Bama
41-17 Texas
In many ways this makes more sense than the methods currently used to determine a champion.
ESPN’s SEC bias remains undefeated.
It’s fine. We are fine. 23-0. Stay healthy. Get in get out. Doesn’t matter where we are ranked. Couldn’t matter less. It’s fine.
Forgot about Arch. Ok. Jameson forgot about Arch. I withdraw this question.

What happens if Ewers gets hurt in this game and then FSU loses tonight and Georgia wins ?
Yes this is the Jameson talking.
2 Michigan
3…
1 Georgia
2 Michigan
3 Oregon
4 Texas
the rest doesn’t matter.
The ghost of Lloyd Carr reappears.
Hello momentum my old friend. It’s nice to see you once again…..
Well there were two holds on that drive. But they still shoved it down our ass. I’m feeling gross.
Guessing we turtle here on offense. Heavy runs and maybe a screen pass. I don’t feel good about this.
That’s a TD.
Why is every punt return a circus?
I’m so done with the talk. Time to strap it up and go.

You know the rest...
Well from my perspective, I'm feeling pretty jerked around on this. Just 3 days ago it was "Michigan vs Everybody", "America's Team", and "#Bet"....
Now this? This doesn't end the "distraction" for the team. This doesn't put anything "behind us" and allow everyone to "move forward".
This creates more questions as Seth points out.
Also:
Is this Harbaugh taking a suspension so that the NFL's threat of not allowing him to be hired to avoid punishment is now off the table?
Does this make him more or less likely to be roaming the sidelines at Soldier Field next year?
Why not right after MSU and before Purdue? Was this just really a bluff?
Is there another shoe to drop? I'm guessing if there is then that shoe will drop after Maryland and before OSU. More distractions.
…
Shoulda went for 2.
now onside kick.
Wow
Too bad Jake Butt isn’t on the call tonight. Wonder what that would sound like.
Changing up signals is called “coaching”. Good Lord. Blackledge played in the NFL. How does he say what he said without committing ?
Perfect response. Basically saying the media needs to sit down and color while the adults sort this out. It’s gonna take a minute. But process matters.
Well done sir.
They shouldn’t be welcomed. At all. Don’t let them setup within 5 miles of the big house.
This is not news. Hell we changed our signals from game to game in High School in both baseball and football. Yep we used dummy signals too... Good Lord this is one big eye roll.
Thank you sir. I’ve been self medicating and since the I’m all out of wine; I’m also going to stop drinking and go to bed.
Can’t quite remember when I heard that advice before …..
Heading up to the Soo for a noon funeral. Planning on getting back to TC before kickoff. Not the way I wanted to spend the day. But life happens. Considering circumstances I shouldn’t complain. Cheers boys.
Solid work Alex. This column is the equivalent of a 45-7 conference road win. Well done sir.
We need a “commercials snowflakes” thread. So we can discuss the quality ads that we are seeing. Very Sterling Cooper quality.
/takes a drink.
Missed FG. That’s a shame.
Finally they are wearing the correct road uniforms.
Why does anyone care about coach speak after the game ?
Michigan wins a 22-16 sludge fest. Neb scores a garbage time TD and maybe even a FG at the gun to annoy everyone, everywhere.
I'm having more wine. Cheers.
