Former Ohio State QB Kyle McCord official to Syracuse.

No need for a bigger UM contract - Jim will get 4 separate paychecks for $7m apiece. Economics solved for all parties.

Wonder who he would be coaching in San Diego? SDSU? Back to U of SD?
December 17th, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
$3 says he stays home in AA.
book it!

Minus the Jadyn component that I think would be unlikely, this seems like best case scenario. Osu is left wo a qb or a last min scramble qb that’s low rated (undetermined as of now).
December 17th, 2023 at 9:09 AM ^
After reading the article, I'm surprised he didn't end up at Rutgers. Program mildly on the rise; deep family roots; and he would surely be an upgrade over Wimsatt (or would he).
December 17th, 2023 at 9:48 AM ^
Jadyn Davis does not want to go to a program with a coach on the hot seat and an entire fan base coming unhinged.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:16 AM ^
It doesn’t matter. Michigan will beat them regardless.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:35 AM ^
Man, you need to take a few big swigs from the Anti-BEPONE bottle. Focus on Michigan, and not some castoff Buckeye, and you'll be fine.

Jadyn Davis is already enrolled at Michigan and practicing with the team.

I know nothing about Noland, but I don't know why the current starter bailing would make him flip to Georgia. OSU still has incredible talent at the positions that arguably matter to a top QB prospect, and Noland would see a more direct path to playing time.
I will admit, however, that Davis seems like the type of freshman OSU needs, right now. A guy who is cerebral but doesn't quite have an NFL arm has the potential to run Ohio State's complex passing offense, even vis-a-vis their current options.

Syracuse ponied up, huh?
December 17th, 2023 at 8:58 AM ^
Or maybe OSU is still paying him?
December 17th, 2023 at 10:18 AM ^
Syracuse had two 4 stars since 2011. Now they have two already on the roster, plus McCord, two Georgia transfers, and a steady stream of 4 and 5 stars visiting campus and being “blown away” on their visit…to Syracuse…in December.

Who’s funding NIL at Syracuse?
December 17th, 2023 at 10:54 AM ^
There’s an Adam Weitsman, a waste and recycling entrepreneur, who said he was paying $2 million directly to players and bringing high profile celebrities to games. The university was not comfortable with how he was going about bringing attention and money to athletes so he decided to focus on Binghamton University (for a remarkable and sordid tale of how trying to become relevant in college athletics, what happened at Binghamton about 14 years ago would make college administrators want to abandon sports altogether).
Where is the big money coming from? Not sure, but they do have many successful alumni in sports media. Plus, it’s the only relevant football in New York and New England.

Just because he's in "Waste Management", everyone thinks he is mobbed up.

Their new coach was on Georgia’s staff. I am sure he knows a thing or two about recruiting. It is not unusual to see young up and coming coaches hit it big in recruiting right out of the gate. Whether he can win enough to keep it going is another matter.
December 17th, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
He's considered one of the best recruiters in the country and was the #1 national recruiter for 24/7 last season.
He's been an assistant to some of the biggest names in college. He was with Rhule at Temple and Baylor going from a graduate assistant all the way to Associate Head Coach. Then went back to Temple under Manny Diaz. Then went to Rutgers under Greg Shiano before finally spending the last two seasons with Kirby Smart.

Sounds like Syracuse hired up a few notches. Pretty impressive given all the limitations.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:36 PM ^
Fran Brown is the greatest recruiter I’ve ever seen.

He knows that Marvin Harrison Sr is no longer there right?
December 17th, 2023 at 9:11 AM ^
I did not have Syracuse on my bingo card!
December 17th, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
But, then again....
A native of Philadelphia, McCord received an offer from the Orange out of high school. He has deep Eastern football roots; McCord’s father, Derek, saw time at quarterback for Rutgers in 1990 and ’91.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:25 AM ^
Correction,"Butt" ah oh well. I'll leave that alone. Rutgers it is.

Take it for what it’s worth but there was talk that since Marvin Harrison Jr and McCord are best friends and MHJs pops played at Syracuse that he would follow McCord….I find it hard to believe but one thing has come true this far.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:42 AM ^
THAT WOULD BE SO ...I don't know, but it would make me happy and cheerful!
December 17th, 2023 at 9:42 AM ^
That would be an insane decision by Harrison, Jr.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:54 AM ^
Yeah, no. There’s no “taking this for what’s it worth” - there’s a zero point zero chance this happens. A negative chance, if such a thing exists.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:34 AM ^
Ummm ok?
December 17th, 2023 at 11:11 AM ^
If they are friends, I think it just makes it more likely that Harrison Jr goes to the NFL. Which is the obviously correct decision we all hope he makes.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:38 PM ^
Marvin Harrison carries some resentment toward SU after they distanced themselves from him after the gun charge he had during his playing days.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:18 AM ^
What a fall! Dude went 11-1 for a top ten team and missed the playoffs by 6 points! He was pretty competent against Michigan, having improved throughout the season. Now he's taking his talents to, ahem, an upstate NY backwater.
He was no poor man's CJ Stroud, but he was hella better than whoever OSU will end up with next year! There is no top portal QB visiting, so they're stuck with some low cost portal alternative, the guy that Honda beat out, or a true freshmen that hasn't even found the campus cafeteria yet.
Way to go, OSU - thanks for the 4th win in a row!!!
December 17th, 2023 at 9:20 AM ^
It doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. I thought he was pretty good against us save a few throws and that was in his first year on the road. I think it's unlikely they improve upon him especially with their turnover at WR that covered up a lot of early issues for him.
