Jason Whitlock thinks Harbaugh is massively overrated

The reason: He's hasn't beaten a loaded OSU and won a national championship in two years, that's why!!

I mean, forget the fact that Harbaugh was one 4th down call away from going to the Big Ten championship and the college football playoff, he's 0-2 against Urban Meyer so CLEARLY he's not worth the bucketloads of cash we're paying him.

Yeah ok gif.

WHY OH WHY DID CUTCLIFFE TURN US DOWN?!? NOW WE'RE STUCK WITH THIS FAILURE!!

/s

(If you ask me Whitlock is still butthurt over Brady Hoke failing after years of talking him up.)

so many are concerned if we'll ever win "anything"

We will be competitive every year as long as we have Harbaugh or some other good coach after he leaves which I don't think he will for a long time. He's here to build something special and long lasting.

So relax folks, we'll be okay and I believe we have a damned good team this year and have as good of a chance to win the B1G as anyone.

I recall reading that article at the time it was written.  I wanted to hope.  Time proved Whitlock wrong in his analysis; time proved me wrong in my hope.

Whitlock is not a credible analyst or commentator.  He's just a loud mouth in a room crowded with loud mouths.  This "Harbaugh is overrated" thing is just his attempt to shout above the din.

Maybe this fucking fat ass should focus more on losing weight.

I'd rather spend the day unclogging all the toilets this moron destroys than listen to this garbage.

That doesn't make him overrated.

Neither Saban nor Meyer does any more with this team and culture Harbaugh started with.

It is stupid that people keep comparing Harbaugh in year 2 after Brandon, Rich Rod and Hoke to Saban and Meyer after multiple years and national championships.

Let's see what happens at Ole Miss then Urban can go there after the fallout and we'll see what he can do after 2 seasons.

I give Harbaugh 4 years before I start comparing him head to head with those two coaches. But that doesn't mean he's not as good of a coach talent wise. It just means he's not in a position to compare his Michigan resume to theirs at the moment.

Another way to look at it.

...is Rashan Gary overrated right now? I can find DEs all over the country with elite talent and better resumes. But are you really going to knock him for not starting (as a true freshman) over a senior DE who was drafted to the NFL? Of course not.

Harbaugh can be Gary, Saban can be Myles Garrett and Meyer can be Solomon Thomas. Why would you even compare them today? But after this year and next year (2 years)...let's see how Gary stacks up against those 2 guys.

Just another blowhard talking head. The day I start putting ANY value in comments by the so called experts is the day I will give up my fandom of any sport.

"Jason Whitlock thinks Harbaugh is masssively overrated."

Well gosh, that's certainly caused me to do a complete 180 on the coach. I'd better call in my order to Ann Arbor Torch & Pitchfork today before they run out.

While I'm at it, I'll send a nice muffin basket to Whitlock, because without his guidance we'd be lost.

People tend to forget the "loaded" team last year was only considered loaded because of Harbaugh. The same team loses at least 5 games with any other coach.

Meh. You can't expect everyone to like him. Look at urban's record; I still think he's an overrated douche canoe trash faced chupa de ano. Can't win em all.

He's just looking for site hits. Anyone who knows anything about football knows Harbaugh is a very good coach. He has objective accomplishments in turning around terrible teams in powerhouses. I don't even understand how it's possible to broach this topic of whether he's overrated. My OSU friends even acknowledge it without argument. That's when you know it's true..../s

In addition, shouldn;t these media pundits at least wait until he has his own recruits cycling through the system? That is just now starting this year. I think next year will be very special.

stated on PTI several years ago: "I HATE MICHIGAN!".  I was appalled that a so called journalist spewed such hatred so publicly toward a college.  The only explanation I can think of is that he could not get in.

is measured by more than just win record and titles ... winning is also measured by high character, respect from your peers, strong academic accomplishment from student-athletes, a full stadium with energized fans of every kind ... the fully-rounded Michigan experience. It was about restoring that tradition. I think that is why Jim chose to take the team to Rome, as a symbol, it too was not built in a day.

Whitlock got fired from The Undefeated because he was apparently immensely incompetent at management and even his writing was seen as hackish for the more high brow product they were pushing. He was then shipped off to FS1 to do a bargain-basement version of a shitty debate show that Stephen A Smith had already done. He's now, I guess, trying to keep his name relevant by picking on people far more famous and successful than himself, and my guess is Harbaugh doesn't take the bait. The sooner people stop paying attention to him, the better. And this is not to get political, but the best description I heard of him is "he's a guy who says when old white men are thinking so they don't have to", and it really does seem like he's just this lazy hot take machine that you'd hear from Cliff in Canton or whatever on drive time sports radio.

Well, he does come from Ohio, which is apparently the heart of the Confederacy. Seriously, what is with that place? Seems like every one of their many, many pickup trucks flies the rebel flag. And the rural dialects are closer to Alabaman than Michiganian despite geographical and historical truths. Why are Ohioans the way they are?

Another overpaid out of touch "expert"...can't wait until Harbaugh and Michigan bitch slap Florida again.

I reall wish I could find myself a moment to sit down, consider and care about what Jason Whitlock has to say, but I can say that, as of this moment in my life, this has not happened and that I am not hopeful about the prospects of it happening in the near term anyway. As for the person above who is already on the ledge, get real.

Don't give this guy any clicks. We will find out what Harbaugh can do on November 25th.

Don't feed the trolls.  So many d-bag journalists trying to get clicks by ripping on Harbaugh.  Whitlock wears a fedora for godsakes.

Jason is one of the brightest guys out there and he constantly puts out contrarian takes that cut against the grain.  appreciate the man - don't hate because you disagree with his takes.  He is not the guys saying "Long and Hill" at CB because it's CW.  He is the guys saying "Washington and St Juste" because he NEVER EVER puts out CW as a take.  Fuck me this board just hates everyone who does not parrot Brian and his takes.

Downvote galore have at it you whiny fucks.

"Downvote galore have at it you whiny fucks."

I might downvote you just for that.

I liked Whitlock early on, he had some excellent takes. But even through the Hoke era he seemed to get a bit weird.

It's his opinion. So what.

Harbaugh is objectively 'worth it' just due to the $$ he brought in. Would I love to have had him crush OSU? Yup! But we were close last year at the 'Shoe. We're making good progress. If we don't beat them this year, I believe we will the next.

But ending your post in a butt hurt manner doesn't help anything. I've seen lots of people take stances contrary to Brian's without issue; Space Coyote, Magnus, etc.
