Not really. Harbaugh played in college, went through the draft, played a long time in the NFL, and then coached both college and pro players at a very high level. He has a unique perspective that really no other coach in the country can match. I understand why players would seek it out to prepare themselves.

Great point, which also raises a question. What other coaches are out there who have succeeded as a player and a head coach in both college and the NFL?

I wouldn't really count Doug Marrone, who was only on NFL rosters for 2 non-consecutive years, although he was decent as the head coach as Syracuse. Jury is still out in Buffalo.

interesting question - guessing theres a few floating around, mostly older white dudes like steve spurrier, jeff fisher, etc (and coordinators like mike munchak, dick lebeau who i believe played for woody).  but not a ton.

harbaugh has a very unique resume, not many can match his experiences  (and while he was not a star pro player, he still started and competed at highest levels and coached at highest levels).  def impressive career.  good question though

NFL prospective QBs realize that Harbaugh knows what qualities/skills are needed to be successful at the next level.  After spending 3 years  at FSU winning a NC Winston doesn't go to c-bus or Oregon or LA but comes to AA to prep for the combine.  This translates to top QBs wanting to come to M to play and develop under the best.  That will attract top receivers, OL and RBs.  Time spent helping kids from other schools also develops good will among players playing in the NFL toward Harbaugh and MIchigan and by developing extended networks provides potential access to recruits that you might not have any contact with otherwise.

I'm guessing this will pay dividends when recruits see guys draft status go up. He will become known as the QB Guru eventually!

Either way it's nice to have a coaching staff where players and other coaches show up to improve their craft.  Bo was famous for that.  As bad as RichRod did here, he had the same reputation at previous stops.  I guess this means I have to root for Jameis at least at the combine.

So I saw some butthurt comments from a SF fan claiming that Harbaugh is actually a terrible QB coach. According to that comment, he wasn't that good a QB, just scrambled around a lot instead of going through his progressions, and he's imparted his bad habits on the QBs he's coached. I guess that some of the top QB prospectss in the country disagree!

It is pretty strange how far Kaepernick regressed this past season. In 2012 and 2013 I'd say he was pretty close to on par with Wilson as the best dual-threat guy in the league. I guess that's what happens though when you don't develop your throwing beyond firing lasers on every play...That dude has a cannon but also, no touch.

You're free not to use either, and give your opinion that you dislike both.  But it's a little silly to instruct others to stop using what's been commonly accepted vernacular for some time.

Personally I feel like the lil bro meme is accurate, given the behavior of much the Sparty fan base.  And the Michigan Man thing really should be resolved among the players, coaches, and alums who promulgated it in the first place.  I personally find it an attractive moniker and reasonable goal to aspire to, if not taken too seriously.  But being none of the above I'll leave that to others to decide.

I can't believe people are complaining and criticizing. It's pretty obvious that JH wants to make Michigan into QB-University. If two top talents travel across the country just to train with him, that sends a pretty strong message to recruits who would get up to 5 years of that coaching.
