that there are no southern schools on the list. Maybe the party down south moves off campus more often than not. Not a scientific study by any means also not a distinction you want as a university.

it doesn't matter if whisky loses and osu loses and every bgtn team loses their first game as long as Michigan wins. That's all that matters. Actually if you remember last season in week 2 or 3 when all the bgtn heavyweights lost there were articles declaring the demise of the bgtn and comparing them to a mid major conference not much better than the MAC. So how did the season play out? If you win at the end of the season in bowl games your conference will be perceived as the best no matter what some knuckleheaded SEC loving reporter says.

one of the power 5 conferences will get absorbed by the other 4. Right now if expansion continues as outlined here with the bgtwelve getting poached I would say the big twelve could be in danger of disappearing.

Best performance in the 60s was Janis Joplin at Monterey in 1967. 70s went to many concerts and the best live performance imo was Rod stewart. Didn't go to any concerts in the 80s or 90s but the top performer was Madonna in the 80s and Michael Jackson in the 90s. After that got no clue.

Maize as in corn, the voters got it right. Don't agree on the burger Q though, Sidetracks is good but there are lots great burgers that aren't near a college campus. Red Coat Inn in the lower, in the upper go to Paradise-Yukon Inn and get the greasy burger, it's awesome. Allocating hate is useless as 90% of hate stays inside you burning away. How about who do want to see lose a football game more as a better question, answer for me is sparty- maybe because I live near so many msu grads the past few years have been painful in the fall. Finally, I agree with you, jorts no.

has pretty much derailed michigans seasons over the past several years with that loss marking a turning point in season expectations. If M wins confidence will be sky high looking ahead no matter what happens in THE GAME. Losing to the defending NC, a team that likely will enter that game undefeated and ranked #1 in the country wont affect confidence.

There is nothing more gratifying than to watch arrogance get a comeuppance. Michigan doesn't need much motivation for the game but this will provide lots of fuel to get them to work a little harder.

on hipaa. Not to belabor a boring topic but it covers docs and anyone with access to the medical record from disclosing protected health info. Health statements regarding players like neck issue, torn ligament or concussion are not really PHI coming from a coach making a general comment as to why a player is getting medically discharged from the program. I am sure there are lawyers out there that would love to argue that point but harbaughs statement doesn't really qualify. Hoke as we know didn't want to disclose info because he thought it would give other team's an advantage with thinking along the lines of the movie the longest yard (the first one), lol.

my take on this is completely sabanesque or aligned with SEC thinking. If you receive an academic scholly you have to maintain a minimum GPA to retain it, or if you are faculty and get a grant you have to show results otherwise it's taken away. Many professionals today such as lawyers, doctors, accountants are hired as at will employees or independent contractors and can be let go for any reason. This is today's world, no guarantees, perform or you're gone. Why should adult football players in college be insulated from real world dynamics? They are receiving a 6 figure education in return for performance on the field, if the coach or boss thinks someone doesn't fit or is underperforming then they need to go period. These are not 10 year olds you are coddling trying to develop confidence. These are adults getting a free premier education hoping to parlay this opportunity into something more lucrative in the NFL. Part of the reality of getting this opportunity is that if they don't live up to expectation they shouldn't be entitled to the benefits.

seems like the comedian that says stuff waiting for the punch line to register then everybody laughs except the interviewer keeps asking stupid, lame questions. He is going to be entertaining!

the idea of 4 super conferences with 16 teams in football all have a conference championship and that determines your NC four teams. It's a nice neat packaged arrangement that I know will likely never happen. The bgtn to me should try to add Kentucky and Kansas that would clearly make bgtn bb a perennial power conference but also add good east and west division markets for football with natural geographic rivalries.

I would probably pay for the site to support the guys here now that you mention it.
A suggestion for a topic: There must be game prediction software that can predict outcomes of each game based on previous performances of players or projected average performances of new starters. Factors such as fewer turnovers, spread kick returns with likely better field position, harbaugh play calling against likely bgtn defenses etc. Couldn't this be infused into likely game results and a probable won/loss prediction other than opinions? My opinion is they are going to win every game and if they don't it's the refs fault.

great coaching and we have that now. Hitting or missing on a recruit isn't going to tip the balance here, I don't think. Although getting 5 star players and it could be debated that Gary is THE top player in the 2016 class is definitely a PR bonanza and a morale boost something maize and blue fans need.

Saban made some comment about irrespective of the bowl games this year the SEC is still the best. Wasn't it Saban and Meyer a few years back saying the bgtn wasn't very good and the bowl game results emphasized that point? Ahhh now it's different don't ya know. Yeah now they can't politic their way into the NC and the bgtn is now employing SEC tactics. I'm betting that you won't see bama play any early season games against osu, michigan, psu or sparty in the next few years.

in need of a M football fix on this dreary michigan Saturday morning, turn on the BTN they are replaying the 2011 M-ND game where Michigan scored 28 fourth quarter points to win the most exciting Michigan football game in the past 10 years.

with the disingenuous comments supporting pipkins public complaining about this. Do you want a winning program or do you want to continue the charade. You had the nice clean image guy with hoke and guess what you ran him out of town. If you want to win then quit with the ivory tower routine and let harbaugh do what he has to do. Pipkins was a 5 star that has not lived up to the billing and he is being offered his degree through a medical and is being told the truth about his pro prospects. He should listen to harbaugh and get his degree and move on to the real world. If you can't deal with today's college football realities then either find something else to do or get out of the way.
|6 weeks 6 hours ago||Sorry but||
those that want to win have to accept the ...distasteful fact that this is how the game is played today. Only the very young or those with their heads in the sand or obliterated elsewhere believe that having a blueblood pedigree entitles you to a NC. Urban Meyer has baggage but he wins and C-bus gets it, the question is does the AA elite get it. Put me in the camp that says play the game in all its facets and win. 18 decommitments in one year? So what, it's what good coaches do, get players that fit your program and dump the rest.

be really difficult for kids and families to decide what to do. Obviously the dream of pro ball, stardom and big money hangs over all of this with stories kids living the dream but equally out there are the kids that seemingly had NBA written all over them that flamed out and never made it. So you can't really blame kids and parents for wanting to explore all their options. They only get one shot at this, while college programs move on to the next kid.

is why did this happen. Probably the most rapid and epic decline of a top athlete ever. Is sports success predicated mostly on state of mind?

but there are so many other variables. New coaching staff, new starting QB, questions at receiver & RB, etc. Phil Steele is very comprehensive and has not been high on Michigan the last 3 years which was on the mark. Most sane college football analysts aren't going out on a limb about M just yet with predictions in the 8-4/9-3 range. Wait till game 3 or 4 for that to change.

the SEC, bama in particular cuts every corner, uses any angle to get a leg up. Now somebody else in another league, the bgtn no less, is giving them a taste of their own medicine. Particularly enjoyed the whining about now nobody gets a break from recruiting. It so hard on all the highly paid college coaching staffs now they don't get June and July off. I feel so bad for them, such hardship.

Michigan should have over last year's Iowa team is predictability. Watching Iowa last year they were the proverbial 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Passing came into play for Iowa generally on desperation situations such as 3rd and really long. I believe the coaching upgrade at Michigan should infuse a lot of unpredictability in Michigan's game plan this year.

of bowl games makes it appear like a drubbing but sometimes its how teams match up, motivation, time between last game and bowl plus other intangibles. To me you have to earn the right to be in the game, otherwise why not let boise state play somebody on the blue turf for shear entertainment. this years playoff underscored that teams need to play more than one game to win a NC. it should be deserving teams earning the right to play in the NC game on the field and not pundits selecting their favorite team or coaches grandstanding to get into the game as meyer did that year.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||What do you mean?||
are you suggesting that M isnt going to be in the CF Playoffs? Actually I do not know the new guys but Mark May has always seemed to be an SEC proponent which I guess he has been right about that the past 10 years however about half the SEC teams that were in the final BCS championship game got there because of politics. The selection of the Meyer led gators over the maize and blue was an example then several years later the selection of Alabama to play LSU in the finals even though they didn't even win the SEC West division was the height of hypocrisy in the selection process. Anyway dumping Mark May, good move ESPN! Now if they would only get rid of Herby herbstreit.

I see by the neg that the truth hurts but then maybe being less critical of other's achievements would be better than than setting a high bar that we ourselves do not have the energy, talent or ability lto attain. Excellence at any level should be applauded not diminished.
