In another thread someone said we would be 19 and everyone said noway. I had hoped not but considering how bad we looked yesterday and barely getting by Indiana and Minnesota,  19 isn't that bad. Now, win the bowl game and get some great recruits and may we better each year from here on out!

I said we might drop as low as #20.

This does not surprise me.  We have three losses now and just lost by 29 at home.  After a game like that you will drop significantly.  We're still ahead of several other three-loss teams, including Utah.   We're just not the highest ranked three-loss team anymore.

If we don't win a conference championship within Harbaughs first 3 years, that would be an unsuccessful start to the tenure. Keep working!

Seems about right. Amazing that Stanford finished 10-2 after WD told us their coach was a moron. God, that kid is a football Einstein.

A little peeved that florida and houston are above us in the ap ... Was hoping we'd be more like 15 or so. Oh well. Polls don't matter for us anymore anyway. Win our bowl game and concentrate on recruiting for next year.

without having to play MSU or OSU and we beat them 38-0 tells you EVERYTHING u need to know about these polls...they are completely worthless

Beating a team doesn't automatically qualify you to be ranked ahead of the other team. You're not complaining that we are ahead of Utah when we have the same record and they beat us.

I believe polls are important for recruiting and selling the direction of your program. If we would've only dropped a few spots, we would've had the chance to win our bowl game and have an outside shot at a top 10 finish in Harbaugh's first year. Now we are at risk of finishing unranked if we lose the bowl game. I'm guessing a top ten finish carries a little more weight on the recruiting trail than finishing unranked.

If you would have told me that we would finish the season 9-3, ranked in top 20, and playing a top school in a bowl game....I'd have have taken it.

We all ratcheted our expectations as the season progressed and, of course, Saturday was a disappointment for sure. But, I like the trajectory. Win a solid bowl game. Recruit like mad improve next year and the ball keeps rolling downhill!

sounds about right.  If we pull Florida or LSU in a new years day bowl it should be a good game.  Haven't seen the gators or LSU play this year but they must be decent.  Fwiw I don't think winning or losing the bowl game will matter one bit to recruiting.  Its easy to see M is on the upswing with a loaded coaching staff.  Michigan will have a monster class this year, top 5 and possibly top 2.   Also, possible grad transfers could fill gaps as well in positions that are thin.  Next year we will be a step closer.
