and the tire fire at Iowa continues....Ferentz should have gotten out when the gettin out was good.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:33 PM ^
This for sure played a role in Garmon coming to Iowa. . . He had Ferentz in his ear about 2 weeks ago letting him know about this.
January 10th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
AIRBHG is a tremendous bastard.
January 10th, 2012 at 10:31 PM ^
Huge, huge loss
January 10th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
Any reason for this? Wasn't he pretty good?
January 10th, 2012 at 4:53 PM ^
He was suspended for the bowl game, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that.
January 10th, 2012 at 4:56 PM ^
RB: YOU STAY UN-SUSPENDED AND UN-INJURED GREG GARMON ARGGGHHHH!!!!
January 10th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
Someone should make them a banner.

Dear Kirk,
I have two functional ACLs and four years of eligibility left. Let's make this thing happen.
Love,
El Jeffe
January 10th, 2012 at 4:58 PM ^
I would strongly discourage this course of action.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
College just wasn't your thing at the time?

January 10th, 2012 at 5:08 PM ^
Alot of high character coaches sure do miss when selecting high character players. Oh wait, I was thinking about St. Tress and Marky D not Kirk.
Kirk better GTFO before anymore peeks behind his curtain.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:08 PM ^
Maybe Michael Cox can take advantage of the Russell Wilson/Dayne Crist Rule and go play for the Hawkeyes.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:12 PM ^
That only works if he has graduated and still has eligibility left.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:30 PM ^
He'll have had four years at Michigan and one year of eligibility remaining, I struggle to see the roadblocks, beyond the whole no scholarship when transferring in the Big Ten thing.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:13 PM ^
I shudder to think what graduate majors Iowa offers that Michigan doesn't.
Master's of Engineering in Corn Maze Design?
Ph.D. in Drinking on a Bus?
January 10th, 2012 at 5:29 PM ^
Not jumping all over you, but the U of I does have some top notch graduate programs. Not saying they're "better" than Michigans, but we do more than make amazing corn mazes!
January 10th, 2012 at 6:47 PM ^
They have a top-notch ophthamology dept.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:16 PM ^
It isn't about quality of program, but the existence of said programs, and Michigan offers a shit-ton of grad programs.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:29 PM ^
Haha, oh the typical Iowa jokes are too fresh.
I've heard he was suspended for something he and Kirk Ferentz felt was not a suspendable offense. Kirk wasn't happy and obviously Coker wasn't happy. What he did has yet to come out. A lot of speculation and most of it says he violated the UNIVERSITY code of conduct, not the teams so TTFWIW.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:44 PM ^
Hey now, dont poke fun at Iowa's graduate studies...
...Physics in Tractor Pulling is one serious program.
January 10th, 2012 at 6:16 PM ^
they might have Corn Maze Design, but WE'RE the only place that has Corn MAIZE Design.

Coker: Can we haz him?

Per the Miami Herald, he asked to be released. I wonder if the suspension and the specifics therein prompted the "resignation", if you will. Right now, I think this leaves Iowa with Canzeri and possibly the infinite eligibility of Tacopants at RB.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
well now we can't get run over by Iowa like we were in this years game
January 10th, 2012 at 5:51 PM ^
Wow, this is huge. Granted, I still think Vandenberg is underrated, but now that Coker is gone, and McNutt may very well declare, Iowa's could be in for a long season next year.
Then again, Ferentz has shown he's able to bring in quality talent (Stanzi, Clayborn, Coker, McNutt, etc.), so who knows who will emerge on Iowa's depth chart now.
January 10th, 2012 at 6:26 PM ^
McNutt is gone anyway, he's a senior.
January 10th, 2012 at 6:12 PM ^
A friend of mine is an athlete at Iowa and he said Coker was suspended because he was caught cheating on a final.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:19 PM ^
If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying hard enough
January 10th, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
But according to TSIO everyones cheating. Why would he get suspended?
January 10th, 2012 at 9:33 PM ^
How people get in trouble at Iowa such that they get suspended is beyond me. Not to be a jerk, but what IS there in Iowa that allows you to do anything that offensive?
January 10th, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
Final exams.
January 10th, 2012 at 11:23 PM ^
Must beat Iowa...must beat Iowa...

hasn't had a running back who started a single game finish out his four years with the school since Albert Young in 2007. Not that I feel bad for them having Shonn Greene jump ship early, but this run they're on is beyond ridiculous.
January 11th, 2012 at 6:11 PM ^
The reasoning behing his departure may have something to do with an "alleged" sexual assault back in October. No charges are being pressed from what I saw. No proof that this is why he is leaving, but is evidence to suggest.
