Indiana beats Iowa

Indiana just took down Iowa in Iowa City giving us sole possession of first place again. I'm sure there will be a couple more losses for us given the strength of the big ten but it feels good to be alone at the top again.

Since my 3rd place thread may not survive:

There is one team at the top of the standings. That would be your Michigan Wolverines! IU marched into Iowa City and knocked off the Hawkeyes. IU went on a Michiganesque 23-2 run which broke things open in the final minutes. Iowa went 9/34 from the field in the second half. Garza did his usual effort (28 points, 12 rebounds), but 0 points by Bohannon (on 9 shots) along with an in spired effort by Jackson-Davis (23 points on 9/14 shooting) proved to be too much.  Thanks IU - we knew you were good for something!

They were already in tournament contention before that game. Most experts already have them as part of the last for in. Winning that game puts them soundly in the field. If they win another one of the next four - that would further some of their status in the field. Winning three of the 5 would move them up two or three seed lines.

A couple notes from this abomination of a game:

CJ Fredrick got hurt

IU shot 35 FTs and missed 14

Bohannon went 0-8 from 3

The last 2 minutes took an eternity

In the 2nd half, Iowa made 6 field goals and shot 20% before it was basically over. They actually went 11 minutes without a field goal.

I only watched part of the second half, When Garza got the ball in the block he would try to back down his defender but another defender would come over quickly and steal the ball, this happened 3 times.  So there was some good defense that did account for turnovers and some of the missed shots.

Wait so a top 5 team can lose to an unranked team at home and not freak the fuck out? For all the morons freaking out after the Minnesota game This is Basketball! Great win that helps our big ten title hopes! GO BLUE!

Michigan get to face Illini, Iowa and Wisconsin one time the rest of the season is huge for them. Illini has to face Wisconsin twice but get to play Iowa and Michigan once. However, they're two games behind. Iowa has to face Wisconsin twice but get to play Illini and Michigan once. Finally, Wisconsin has to face Iowa and Illini twice and Michigan once so they have the toughest road to the B1G title even though they're 1 game behind.

Michigan is in great shape for the B1G title but they have to win games.

This is big.  Even without fans, homecourt advantage is still a thing in college basketball.  Iowa failing to hold serve - and against a team that isn’t even considered a contender - could cost them dearly in the title race.

Assuming a full 20 game BT schedule is played, I will be surprised if the champion has fewer than 5 losses. The conference is tough and outside of Nebraska each team is capable of beating any of the other teams.
