I didn't realize that Indiana fans are so classless.

Exhibit A:  The "break his leg" chant when Robinson was tackled from behind before the half.

Exhibit B: The joyous cheering resounding from their stands when Robinson went down injured.

Pretty disgusting, if you ask me. Wishing injury on the opponent is entirely childish and very telling about how desperate they are to see their pathetic football program do something worth cheering for. I guess I would be bitter if I hadn't beaten Michigan in 23 years, too.

Not trying to justify it - I do think cheering Stanton's injury was classless - but he constantly talked shit about Michigan. He was like the embodiment of the "little brother" mentality. Robinson on the other hand is just really effin' good. I don't think that's a real solid reason for cheering a guy when he goes down.

This is a myth perpetuated by Spartan fans.  I was in attendance and I can assure you, we did not cheer once we realized Stanton was hurt.  It was a 3rd-down stop, so people cheered that, but the stadium went quiet once it was clear he was hurt.

But I make up for it in other areas....

In that same game I chewed out some dipshit for bringing his state buddy to the game and sneaking him into the student section.  Also I only would do something like this against a douchebag state (either one) player.  I'm very nice to other opposing fans.  And I yell at people who don't take off their hats for the anthem.

I agree, I was also at that game and no one around me in our section cheered when Stanton went down. I obviously cannot speak for everyone in the stadium but, I heard absolutely no boos whatsoever. Spartan fans were pissed he got hurt (and rightfully so) and started that B.S. rumor that the Michigan fans cheered when he went down. I cheered when Woodley lit him up, but did not cheer when he didn't get up.

Capped off by not clapping when one of our players (who it was escapes me) got up and walked off the field after an injury.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I seem to remember clapping for any player, ours or the opposing team's, when they walk off the field post-injury.

Or after the Koger TD, as he ran out of the endzone to turn around, an IU fan tried hitting him with a full can of something..

Did anyone at the game see what happened on all of the personal foul penalties? Especially the one on lewan. Espn U didn't show a single replay

Greg Banks after he went down on the ground with an injury after his sack.

But seriously the Denard-injury -cheering is boorish to the point where even though I never cared about Indiana before, I hope they get killed by anyone they play.

Twice I had to pick family members up and was listening to IU radio on XM.  The first was towards the start and the depressed, quiet call on the first DRobTD was hilarious.  The second time was when DRob went down.  And the color guy was cool about it saying he wanted him back in, you don't want to see that, etc.  So, you got that.  I saw it as an extra teaspoon of class that wasn't otherwise required.

First post. Longtime reader. I created an account on account of the Indiana fans and how they reacted when Denard went down. He originally got up and attempted to walk on his own and then went down. At that point the cheers errupted and my stomach became upset. I cannot fathom why one would cheer when ANY player gets injured. I understand the travesty and injustice Indiana thinks they have gone through over the years, but to cheer ANY player being injured is truely and uttlerly classless in every respect of the word. My two cents being a newby but long time reader.....

I think you'd be hard pressed to find many Wisconsin students who actually believe that the injured player should be shot on the field.

Meanwhile, it certainly sounded like the IU crowd would have been genuinely pleased if Denard had his leg broken.

I was typing away at the same post, but before I posted checked to see if anyone else had noticed the cheering when denard was hurt too.  The only thing that made me feel better was the "Lets go Blue" chanting that took over the stadium after his game winner.  Talk about classless WTF Indiana.  I would turn around and tell a fellow UM fan to STFU if I heard them cheering when a kid is hurt on the field, regardless of what team they are on.

Did you guys see the play in the 2nd half when Denard took the field, he and another player were raising their arms to rile up the crowd. That seemed weird for the visitors to do.

Given that this was IU's first sellout in a lot of years, a lot of those people had probably never been to a football game before, so I think you have to cut them some slack.   They'll no doubt behave better when they go to their next IU game in 2035.

I wish there was a video posted with proof of this. My friend who goes to IU claims there was never any "break his leg" chant and only a "few drunk frat bros" cheered when denard was injured. You can google this and people all over the place are saying the opposite. I just wish there was video

It's called the game. And when I watch the replay, I'll hear the same thing - Indiana fans being douchebags. Your friend is full of shit. Edit: The chant was at the 4:00 minute mark of the 2nd quarter. The cheering injuries are self explanatory.

I agree it was in very bad taste when the student section cheered Denard going down. The IU fans around me did no such cheering and they and the stadium staff were very classy and accommodating.
