I didn't realize that Indiana fans are so classless.
Exhibit A: The "break his leg" chant when Robinson was tackled from behind before the half.
Exhibit B: The joyous cheering resounding from their stands when Robinson went down injured.
Pretty disgusting, if you ask me. Wishing injury on the opponent is entirely childish and very telling about how desperate they are to see their pathetic football program do something worth cheering for. I guess I would be bitter if I hadn't beaten Michigan in 23 years, too.

They wouldn't be chanting anything if we could fucking stop them in any way shape or form.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:34 PM ^
I guess you missed the multiple stops we made in the second half.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
Your the biggest fucking crybaby on this blog.
That is all.
October 2nd, 2010 at 5:50 PM ^
Michigan fans did the same damn thing in '04 when Stanton went down.
October 2nd, 2010 at 5:58 PM ^
2 wrongs don't make a right. Classless is classless...
October 2nd, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
At least the kids who did that grew out of it or left.

This is a myth perpetuated by Spartan fans. I was in attendance and I can assure you, we did not cheer once we realized Stanton was hurt. It was a 3rd-down stop, so people cheered that, but the stadium went quiet once it was clear he was hurt.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:14 PM ^
but some guy that looked like me was cheering when Stanton got hurt.....
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:17 PM ^
OK, then maybe you're a jackass. But don't drag the rest of us down.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
But I make up for it in other areas....
In that same game I chewed out some dipshit for bringing his state buddy to the game and sneaking him into the student section. Also I only would do something like this against a douchebag state (either one) player. I'm very nice to other opposing fans. And I yell at people who don't take off their hats for the anthem.

My hero.
October 3rd, 2010 at 12:11 AM ^
You might want to just stay home on Saturdays.
October 3rd, 2010 at 1:22 AM ^
You lowered yourself to this level and you want us to gve you praise?
October 3rd, 2010 at 6:00 PM ^
I +1'd you so hard.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:15 PM ^
And I don't remember any real cheering either. I'm sure there was the odd jackass, but not the whole crowd. Woodley probably got cheered for hitting him, but that's not the same thing.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:40 PM ^
I agree, I was also at that game and no one around me in our section cheered when Stanton went down. I obviously cannot speak for everyone in the stadium but, I heard absolutely no boos whatsoever. Spartan fans were pissed he got hurt (and rightfully so) and started that B.S. rumor that the Michigan fans cheered when he went down. I cheered when Woodley lit him up, but did not cheer when he didn't get up.
October 2nd, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
Capped off by not clapping when one of our players (who it was escapes me) got up and walked off the field after an injury.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I seem to remember clapping for any player, ours or the opposing team's, when they walk off the field post-injury.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:21 PM ^
It was Banks
October 3rd, 2010 at 12:31 PM ^
I mean, I do it grudgingly, but I even clap for Buckeyes that are hurt and walk off.
As much as I wouldn't mind seeing Pryor get dinged and have to leave the game, I sure as hell wouldn't cheer.
October 2nd, 2010 at 6:58 PM ^
to lay 70 on them next year.
October 2nd, 2010 at 6:59 PM ^
Or after the Koger TD, as he ran out of the endzone to turn around, an IU fan tried hitting him with a full can of something..
October 3rd, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^
That explains why Koger was mighty demonstrative toward the fans after the last touchdown.
I fucking hate everything about the state of Indiana. In all honesty, it might be worse than Ohio.
October 3rd, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
Ohio is still in a class of its own. Going there to see the Game can be literally dangerous.
October 3rd, 2010 at 3:27 PM ^
Columbus is still the epicenter/asshole of suck, and the 'shoe is right in the middle of that.
ButI would hazard to say that apart from the Buckeyes the state of Ohio has a slight edge on the state of Indiana. Indiana's really just a horrid place.

looked like he got hit in the back a few plays before and actually ran into Denard's legs on the sideline. He was mad after that and late to get to the line.
Might have been retaliation for that.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:04 PM ^
Greg Banks after he went down on the ground with an injury after his sack.
But seriously the Denard-injury -cheering is boorish to the point where even though I never cared about Indiana before, I hope they get killed by anyone they play.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:14 PM ^
Twice I had to pick family members up and was listening to IU radio on XM. The first was towards the start and the depressed, quiet call on the first DRobTD was hilarious. The second time was when DRob went down. And the color guy was cool about it saying he wanted him back in, you don't want to see that, etc. So, you got that. I saw it as an extra teaspoon of class that wasn't otherwise required.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:21 PM ^
First post. Longtime reader. I created an account on account of the Indiana fans and how they reacted when Denard went down. He originally got up and attempted to walk on his own and then went down. At that point the cheers errupted and my stomach became upset. I cannot fathom why one would cheer when ANY player gets injured. I understand the travesty and injustice Indiana thinks they have gone through over the years, but to cheer ANY player being injured is truely and uttlerly classless in every respect of the word. My two cents being a newby but long time reader.....

Wisconsin students chant "Shoot him like a horse!" when a guy gets injured.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
the Indiana crap was pretty low, but the wisconsin thing is kind of funny. If it's not, it at least gets creativity points from me.
October 2nd, 2010 at 8:31 PM ^
to establish yourself as MGoBlog D-Bag of the month.
Slow down. There's still 29 days left.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
I think you'd be hard pressed to find many Wisconsin students who actually believe that the injured player should be shot on the field.
Meanwhile, it certainly sounded like the IU crowd would have been genuinely pleased if Denard had his leg broken.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:25 PM ^
I was typing away at the same post, but before I posted checked to see if anyone else had noticed the cheering when denard was hurt too. The only thing that made me feel better was the "Lets go Blue" chanting that took over the stadium after his game winner. Talk about classless WTF Indiana. I would turn around and tell a fellow UM fan to STFU if I heard them cheering when a kid is hurt on the field, regardless of what team they are on.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:25 PM ^
Did you guys see the play in the 2nd half when Denard took the field, he and another player were raising their arms to rile up the crowd. That seemed weird for the visitors to do.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:45 PM ^
Denard looked like he did a little of that arm pulling thing that IU fans do after he got to the sideline after the last TD.
October 2nd, 2010 at 7:43 PM ^
Given that this was IU's first sellout in a lot of years, a lot of those people had probably never been to a football game before, so I think you have to cut them some slack. They'll no doubt behave better when they go to their next IU game in 2035.
October 2nd, 2010 at 8:22 PM ^
If that was truly a sell-out, I saw hundreds of fans come to the game disguised as empty seats.
October 3rd, 2010 at 1:44 AM ^
If first-time fans think that it's OK to cheer for an injury, then they shouldn't have come to the game and they should never go to a game again.
October 2nd, 2010 at 8:02 PM ^
I wish there was a video posted with proof of this. My friend who goes to IU claims there was never any "break his leg" chant and only a "few drunk frat bros" cheered when denard was injured. You can google this and people all over the place are saying the opposite. I just wish there was video
October 2nd, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
I could hear the cheering for the injury on TV. That was more than "a few drunks."
October 3rd, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^
October 3rd, 2010 at 5:18 PM ^
He got hurt (and the fans cheered) with 11:10 to go in the third.
October 2nd, 2010 at 8:21 PM ^
I agree it was in very bad taste when the student section cheered Denard going down. The IU fans around me did no such cheering and they and the stadium staff were very classy and accommodating.
October 2nd, 2010 at 8:34 PM ^
There like that in every sport. Baseball is just as bad.
October 3rd, 2010 at 1:35 AM ^
Some of you guys are killing my point total here lately... And it just seems to keep getting worse.

They maybe classless, but this is awesome!
