Spend less time on SRS. You just described 90% of the internet, it's an unfortunate reality, but not confined to reddit alone. |
| 4 weeks 6 days ago | Nah, 2016 |
Watch them flip the schedules for 2015 and then make Michigan travel to Lincoln or Madison in 2016 (in addition to Columbus and EL) while getting Illinois or some such garbage as the home crossover. |
| 5 weeks 3 days ago | Sounds about right. |
I think that's a pretty fair assessment of what's gone on, though I don't think the effect has been limited to just blue-collar workers. They've certainly felt the brunt of it. As to your question further up, about a solution. I don't know, and I won't pretend to. I don't feel it's a sustainable trend, but I share your sentiment that no good is done by simply demonizing those on one end of the spectrum. It's a more complex problem than that. |
| 5 weeks 3 days ago | Is the problem there on the |
Is the problem there on the top end, or the bottom end, though? Put another way, is the 400:1 ratio because executive compensation is out of control, or because the average worker's wage has stagnated (or even decreased from inflation) over those years? |
| 7 weeks 1 day ago | Wow |
Wow, a whole lot of misplaced anger in this thread. This has nothing to do with YouTube/Google and everything to do with this country's insane copyright laws. |
| 15 weeks 15 hours ago | Texas? |
Texas? You mean Rice and UTSA? You're working under the assumption that the B1G is looking at expansion from an athletic/prestige/common sense standpoint. Cable boxes man, cable boxes... |
| 31 weeks 4 days ago | Long term |
Long term, the numbers will belong to position groups, correct? 87 will always be a TE, 47 and 48 LB's, 21 (and 1) to WR, 2 to a CB. If that's the case I like 11 back there. It's a weird number to fit in somewhere, and that seems as good a position as any other I can think of. Kovacs will always be #32, the fact that he was honored with 11 for the last 4-5 games of his senior year won't change that. |
| 32 weeks 4 days ago | Noticed this live |
5:40 - after the deep ball to Gallon - crowd shot, Michigan fan wearing shorts....with black socks. Wtf mate? |
| 33 weeks 5 days ago | I think this is it for me |
I think this is it for me, I really do. In '05 I never said that because I knew as upset as I was at the moment, I'd be back as soon as hockey was. This time? I really don't think I will. This league doesn't deserve fans anymore. Hell, what's really left anyway? Yzerman has been gone, now Lidstrom is too. Those two were my heroes growing up. Most of the others are gone too. Draper, Maltby, Ozzie, Homer, McCarty, and on and on. I may miss Datsyuk and Z, but for their sake I hope they stay in Europe anyway. Those guys deserve to be worshiped as the superstars they are, not spend their last few years in a crater of a city with spoiled fans, playing for a league and players union who so spectacularly trip over their dicks like this again and again. Screw you guys, I'm going home. |
| 34 weeks 21 hours ago | Hate to be "that guy" |
I hate to be "that guy" but check the aftermath of the pass to Vincent Smith right around the 1:00 mark. Looks like Tom runs into the pile after Smith is down and works him over with his knees a bit. Classy guy... |
| 34 weeks 4 days ago | Ribs? |
It looks like even shallow breaths are excruciating. I feel for the kid, that's a terrible and pretty scary kind of pain. |
| 35 weeks 4 days ago | Finally |
I want to see Denard hang 500 yards and 50+ on 'em, because fuck those guys. Also, Michigan Defense™ |
| 37 weeks 3 days ago | I was really upset to see this |
I was really upset to see this yesterday. The kid was clearly not alright. You don't need a CT scan on the sidelines to see this. I'm not a doctor, but as someone who suffered a pretty serious sports-related concussion I would think it's something that's pretty easy to see in a case like this. Get him on the sideline and start with the rapid-fire questions. "What's your mother's full name? Where were you born? What dorm do you live in? What did you eat for breakfast? What month is it? Who's the president?" I don't know what really happened on the sidelines yesterday, maybe he really was fine. I just have a hard time believing that after seeing him laid out on the field the way he was. |
| 37 weeks 3 days ago | That's because |
That's probably because it keeps calling a dive on every play. You need to run a little play action to open up holes for your ground game. |
| 38 weeks 2 days ago | I don't know about that |
I don't know about that. From the looks of things, they might not give up a single goal all season! |
| 39 weeks 1 day ago | I don't think anyone will be |
I don't think anyone will be wearing the 1 again until after Carter gets his legends patch. There are too many...issues otherwise. If they honor AC next year and Gardner is still a WR, I think he would be a natural choice. Speaking of a hypothetical AC legends patch. How is that all going to work with the 21 also out there? |
| 39 weeks 2 days ago | Realistically, how often do |
Realistically, how often do offensive guards go pro after their junior years? |
| 40 weeks 8 hours ago | Very good point |
Very good point. This is why every fall we're subjected to infinite "New this fall on ABC" promos for some new wretched abortion of a show. Then by November it's promos for whatever reality show they've scrambled to put on when said show takes a crap in the ratings. |
| 40 weeks 18 hours ago | NSFMF |
That still leaves them 4 games. I would bet that they would want Michigan for one of those four. Maybe MSU and Purdue as well some years. You may see them rotate out for a few years every once in a while going forward, but I doubt this changes much for Michigan. |
| 40 weeks 3 days ago | Don't forget Tim Thomas |
Don't forget Tim Thomas. He graduated from DHS in 92 or thereabouts. |
| 40 weeks 3 days ago | Pointless |
It's pointless. Just turns the whole thing into a competition between the band and students. Unless they decide to change the ending every time, it won't work long term. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I say stop playing it during the game, period. If you're serious about stopping the chant that's the only way it's going to happen. |
| 40 weeks 4 days ago | Thanks BiSB! | |
| 41 weeks 13 hours ago | Thanks Heiko |
It would be simple enough to just read the bullet points at the top, but with Hoke it's always worth reading the transcript. How else would you know that Hoke and Pipkins talk about honey buns? |
| 41 weeks 3 days ago | This exactly |
Additionally, who did we beat out for a number of our recent OL recruits? Alabama. The players we're getting now are the same type that Bama got four and five years ago and turned into the monster OL we saw last night. PATIENCE! |
| 44 weeks 7 hours ago | Poor kid |
She looks like one of those celebrity baby mash-ups. Quite literally Bruce Willis' face on Demi Moore's body. |
| 45 weeks 2 days ago | So I was reading |
So I was reading a book about the Comanches. Like most Native peoples they had very strictly defined gender roles. The women cooked, cleaned, raised the children, set up camp, tore down camp (nomadic tribes), made clothes, tended to the horses, gathered food, tanned hides, and made pemmican. The men hunted buffalo, made war, slept, ate, and had sex with their multiple wives. I know that's not at all relevant to the discussion, it's just really freakin' awesome. |
| 47 weeks 2 days ago | Hey guys |
Hey guys, just got back from a 3 day weekend up north. Did I miss anything today?
Seriously though, why can't two teams with some of the most iconic uniforms in college football actually take the field to play each other in fucking said uniforms?! Better yet, both teams should wear their home uni's. The NCAA allows it if both teams agree and I think it would look really good for this game. |
| 47 weeks 3 days ago | Close, but no cigar |
Bolivia came from the board, as a typo I do believe. "Being negged to (Oblivion-->Bolivion-->Bolivia)" |
| 47 weeks 6 days ago | Wait |
Wait, so JFK went on an "apology tour?" .....and voiced support for communist revolutionaries? I think we're going to need to see a birth certificate. |
| 48 weeks 1 day ago | I think |
I think the conventional wisdom is that Kalis and Braden are the two most ready for college ball. Magnuson has an incredibly high ceiling, but isn't there yet physically. |
