ctrl f "woke" only returns 7 results. I admire the restraint shown there. Only one cultural bolshevis..sorry, cultural marxism, too. Perhaps he's not the vile demagogue he's being painted as.

Here's a score card for those playing along at home. I'm pretty sure we're close to a BINGO in this thread already.

Garbage breed that's by and large owned by garbage people. Neg away, fuck you and your pibble.

Lebron is a polarizing figure for many reasons

Name 3 of those "many reasons." Hell, name 2, because I'll spot you LeGM. What else you got?

Dude is pushing 40 and has been under the microscope since he was in high school without even so much as a whiff of scandal. Who else on his level can you say the same about?

The only thing I can say…

The only thing I can say with any certainty, is that we'll be subject to 4 hour games to pay for these deals.

Will the athlete sue the school for reneging on assurances made when they were being recruited?  A lot still to shake out.

This is an angle I hadn't considered before. No doubt much of recruiting relies on the art of bullshit and blowing smoke. "Yeah, sure kid, no red shirt and you'll be on the two deep the moment you arrive. Hey, check out this waterfall!"

When those "promises" start affecting people's money, lawyers will no doubt be involved.

I'll enjoy the novelty of…

I'll enjoy the novelty of Michigan playing USC and UCLA as conference opponents the first few times it happens. Top of the list as far as road games I'd like to attend. So basically, Nebraska all over again. That was fun for a minute, too. Is anyone still glad we did that?

I get the media is telling…

I get the media is telling you not to like the Supreme Court right now

Holy fucking projection. Have you been to a school board meeting in the last year? Seen the multiple incidents of militia groups showing up to harass libraries full of mothers and children in just the last two weeks? You really want to talk about media whipping people in to a frenzy? Yeah, let's have that conversation...

It appears to only be a 10 ft. paywall. A 12 ft ladder will suffice: https://12ft.io/ Scroll down to the "What," "Why," and "How does it work?" sections if you want to learn more. There are also browser extensions out there that will do it for you automatically.

Premium content is premium content, like recruiting sites or ESPN+ for example. I can respect that. These other sites want to have their cake and eat it too. Fuck em.

Good for them! If a significant portion of women decided right now, today, that they won't work and that they DEFINITELY will not be cooking, cleaning, or fucking until this horseshit gets put right, I reckon we could have it all sorted out by lunch on Monday.

I'm glad he said what he did, because now he'll finally go away. If they won't fire him for being ass at his job for the last quarter century, they will at least fire him over this. Good riddance.

RE: The key paragraph; It's entirely by design.

Several years ago when my kids were younger, I got audited over some EITC/Child Tax credit mistake that I don't recall the exact details of. What I do remember is that I was making about 26k annually at the time. I also remember venting to my mom about having to cut the IRS a rather substantial check over the ordeal. She told me that the same thing happened to her when I was around 4 years old.

The IRS has just enough teeth to go after the low hanging fruit - poor people claiming tax credits and small business owners who miss dotting an i or crossing a t on the mountains of paperwork they juggle with their 60 hour weeks.

"It's a big club, and you ain't in it."

Which further means that the…

Which further means that the regular season won't get shortened because most teams need 7 home games or 6 home games plus a payday to make football economically viable.

So we're doing 16 or 17 game…

So we're doing 16 or 17 game seasons now? Pay the fucking players.

Probably best for all…

Thank you for all the hard work you've put in over the years, Ace. You're an incredibly talented writer.

That argument rings pretty…

That argument rings pretty hollow when 111 out of 124 active NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB stadiums/areans were tax payer subsidized and several teams have packed up and left town in recent years because they were no longer allowed to suck at the public teat for their new venues.

I thought the same thing…

I thought the same thing this morning when I got the call about my child's school being closed again. "The roads are fine. Send the damn kids to school!"

Then I totaled my truck on I-75. Oops.

"A part of me was hoping…

"A part of me was hoping that the start of the game's dedication to the run was a Bo-ish attempt to set up the defense for more creativity as the game went on."

It may very well have been. After all, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." 14-0 was the punch, and after that the plan changed.

Yes, and I've seen them do…

Yes, and I've seen them do that in week 1 every season for years now. It means nothing, it never has.

What are you talking about?…

What are you talking about? Saying that you can't call an incompetent, corrupt grifter an incompetent corrupt grifter just because she's a woman is kind of...sexist. Don't ya think?

Can we do defense now? Let's…

Can we do defense now? Let's do defense.

That will happen when you…

That will happen when you have a 162 game regular season. I agree that baseball isn't dying, people have been saying that for about as long as they've been saying that soccer is the next big thing. Both are wrong, but baseball isn't in great shape. Among major professional sports only The PGA, ATP (tennis), and NASCAR have an older fan base than MLB.

Saw a few people mention Independence Day, so I have to ask: Was that movie always so cringey? I was a kid when it came out and, of course, loved it. However, I watched it again a few years ago and...wow.

Yes, with any of the 29 teams that aren't the Detroit Pistons. That was the worst possible fit for him in every way save location.

"The mitigating factors, or

"The mitigating factors, or excuses, or whatever you care to call them, go away in 2018, when the program will be loaded with talent recruited by Harbaugh. They'll certainly look better than this."

Yeah, that's it. Harbaugh just needs his guys. Whatever, I'm off to go watch a team with a second year coach and a true freshman qb play against a team with a first year coach in the CFP.

Sick of the fucking excuses and lame attempts to justify this shit show, but keep plucking that chicken. Next year is the year, right?

I don't want to see Brandon

I don't want to see Brandon Peters take another snap for this team until he toughens the fuck up. Kid is SOFT

This team is going 7-5 next

This team is going 7-5 next year. If they're lucky.

Sports talk radio is the

Sports talk radio is the YouTube comments of radio. If you're upset by something you hear on there, it's your own damn fault for listening to it in the first place. Who cares what some blowhard with a radio show and Jim from Southfield have to say about anything?

Listen to NPR, or the WRIF, or audiobooks, or basically anything that's not shitty hot takes and Kia commercials.

I look forward to Jesse

I look forward to Jesse James' next touchdown reception. I envision him not tossing the ball to the ref, but instead carrying it like a swaddled infant back to the bench. Where he proceeds to hold on to it, never letting it touch the ground, until the next offensive possession. Just to be safe.

I get that according to the rules it was incomplete, which just means it's a stupid rule. The ol' eye test sees catch, lunge, ball breaks the plane, touchdown, bobble.

Whatever, I don't have a dog in the fight. That was the first NFL game I've watched all year and will probably be the last up until the Superb Owl. Shit is unwatchable.

Agreed.
Imagine a coach who

Agreed.

Imagine a coach who treats MSU and OSU as just the next game on the schedule. Goes on to lose those games consistently. Then tops it off by giving a cornerback the #1 jersey.

He would be run out of town on rails...Or hailed as the savior of the program. I guess it depends on if we're talking about Rich Rodriguez or Jim Harbaugh here.

I'm being a bit obtuse, intentionally. I'm well aware there are other factors, and obviously Harbaugh>>>>Rodriguez. Though I still think that the "Michigan Arrogance™" and incestuous "Michigan Man" obsession unfairly torpedoed RR from the start and led to Brady Hoke being elevated to a position that he in no way deserved to be in.

It all worked out in the end, but the hypocrisy still rankles.

Why all the consternation? So

Why all the consternation? So instead of losing 38-13 with Peters, they'll lose 38-3 with Okorn. BFD

I assume the no-name pullover jersey is because he's also the backup center and possibly second guard off the bench so he's probably wearing his usual #51 underneath.

For me it's the early 2000's V10 Formula 1 engines. 20,000 RPMs of pure screeching hellbeasts.

Mid 90's Ferrari V12s are pretty awesome too.

I'd gladly trade Maryland and Rutgers for Louisville and ND. But cable markets uber alles, so to hell with geographic fits.

Good read, thanks for sharing.

If you can stand to give Rosenberg clicks, he had a great write-up on the Joe for SI recently. Regardless of the author, it's a good article.

I don't follow recruiting TOO closely

I don't follow recruiting TOO closely, I don't get caught up in watching highlight videos, checking the scouting services' profiles, etc. So I didn't realize Martin was a Wes Welker type, gym rat, natural leader, hard working, lunch pail type guy.

I guess I assumed a super-athletic slot receiver type was more of a natural talent, God given ability, rangy build, can't coach speed type.

Excited to see him Go Blue though!

The details are fuzzy

The details are fuzzy to me, but didn't Pete Carrol's USC juggernaut put a career backup into the League?

Not that it's likely to happen, but there is a precedent for it. It's much more likely, given Harbaugh's QB recruiting so far, that we'll see talent transfer out to greener pastures. Which is fine, too. Ultra talented quarterbacks coming to Michigan isn't a pipeline that is going to dry up any time soon.

They don't

I suspect many of them don't. This has all come about because in 2010 the Department of Education, at the behest of the executive branch, threatened to slap schools with Title IX violations and funding cuts if they didn't adopt certain policies. These cases are the result of those policies.

Agreed. On all points.

I

Agreed. On all points.

I fully and unconditionally accept that this wasn't the proper time or place, and my apologies for that.

First of all, I'm NOT more

First of all, I'm NOT more concerned with men being wrongly punished than women being assaulted. That's a gross mischaracterization of what I said. It is possible to both be opposed to rape AND opposed to falsely branding men guilty of the second most heinous crime a person can commit against another.

Secondly, this is a public university that relies on both federal and state funding. While one may not have a right to due process in the eyes of a voluntary association, one does have a right to equal protection under the law. I'm not a lawyer, but to my eyes being branded as a rapist without due process is a violation of that. I suppose that's a decision the courts will have to make, as there are a number of lawsuits pending from men who claim that THEIR Title IX rights have been violated by these campus “courts.”

Third – When the definition of rape and sexual assault is broadened, as it has been, to include two drunk students having sex you have a further equal protection issue when one of those students is 'guilty' of a crime but not the other.

Finally – This isn't a “slap on the wrist” to these men. Their names will forever be linked to a rape, even if one did not actually occur. Every future employer, future associate, and future partner who decides to Google their name will find search results implicating them in a terrible crime, even though they have never actually been found guilty or even charged with said crime in a court of law. Furthermore, you now have The Association of Title IX Administrators calling on colleges to adopt a policy of including “clear notations on transcripts” of students dismissed for sexual assault by campus tribunals. Essentially blacklisting them from pursuing further education at another institution. https://atixa.org/resources/position-statements/

I realize after the fact that this wasn't the proper time or place for my initial post, and I suppose my reply is in poor taste as well. I apologize to the board for that. Speaking generally on the subject isn't relevant to the case at hand. I don't know the details. I was perfectly willing to just let it go and chalk it up to a case of me needing to think for a minute before pressing “save.” I only type this out to defend myself from the implication that I'm some sort a rape apologist. That wasn't the point I was trying to make in my admittedly misguided post.

Here's a good read i found on this subject. I'm not just talking out of my ass here. http://www.newsweek.com/2015/12/18/other-side-sexual-assault-crisis-403…

Unpopular opinion RE: Minnesota

Ten more lives and reputations ruined by Title IX campus kangaroo courts after a prosecutor finds insufficient evidence to charge them with actual crimes through the actual justice system.

I get that sexual assault on campus is a huge issue and I feel for victims, I truly do. No one wants to see another Baylor, ever. However, this is un-American at its very core. Not that I have a better solution, but still...

Commence negs.

I'm casting a write-in vote for Bernie Ecclestone.
