Thoughts on Jim Brandstatter?
I don’t have a link but apparently Jim Brandstatter has done multiple interviews openly questioning all of the Bo accusers and saying in so many ways that his and other Bo supporter’s opinions should hold more weight than the victims viewpoint.
If anyone has a link to interviews that would be great.
Personally, after loving Frank Beckmann, I have already considered Brandy unlistenable in the play by play role and after hearing his opinions can no longer see myself ever listening to a game he calls again.
Curious about everyone’s thoughts on Jim Brandstatter moving forward.
Go Blue.
Too soon man.
Too soon.
"I don't have a link, but..."
What a useless and inflammatory idea of a thread.
So because I don’t have a link it didn’t happen? Gotcha
Actually, he didn't say that. He called your thread "Useless and inflammatory" which, if we're being honest, is pretty damn accurate.
Am I missing something? Our play by play man had some very controversial comments that he stated publicly. This should not be talked about?
Alleged. There's no link, so right now it seems like something you could have made up because you don't like his broadcast style.
"Am I missing something?"
-Yeah, a link to the comments so people can see what was said with a source and then have the conversation you want to have
There is a link in the comments to the interview.
Stop digging.
Am I missing something?
Yes.
Our play by play man had some very controversial comments that he stated publicly.
But you didn't provide a link. Why? That's the fucking point.
It literally takes 10 fucking seconds to do this -- fuck it, I'll do it for you... you must have gone to the WD school of how to make a fucking post.
I don't think he has a statue that can be taken down. No buildings named after him. So let's go after him in a thread on mgoblog!
Seriously, though, can we please have a link so we can rabble rabble rabble properly?
I don't think there's a statute related to Bo, either.
Go stand outside Schembechler Hall and look around. Your mind is going to be blown.
Wait for it....
Surprised two people on this blog do not know the difference between Statute and statue.
Which has limitations?
Both
but which has more stature?
If what his son said is true, then there are in fact statutes related to his actions.
Performance wise he is very lucky he played at UofM and started in TV when he did. I enjoy the content that he has delivered over the years but honestly if you paint a Block M on my living room wall I would watch it for hours. No comment on the rest.
As far as play-by-play announcers go, he was a great offensive tackle.
I don't have a link but apparently, everyone is saying Maison Bleue is the greatest MGoBlog poster of all time.
Curious about everyone’s thoughts on Maison Bleue moving forward.
There has never been a greater poster. Some of the best people are saying it.
Some of the best people are saying it.
You won't believe what #6 said about it!
Carlos Spicyweiner. . .in his prime, was the greatest poster of all time.
I was always kinda partial to His Dudeness.
I kinda miss tales of Hatter's debauchery too.
I miss Hatter as well. I’m going to say that pound for pound he was the best poster of his era.
I haven’t seen them around, but since BPONE set in I’m not around much either.
I'm here for some of the entertainment value of the board but for the most part, while my blood runs maize and blue, it's hard presently to get excited for the football team these days. No disrespect to the student-athletes, but I'm so over this program at this point.
I can. I like football. I like many of the things we’ve done. Harbaugh isn’t an idiot. And almost every team not Clemson, Bama, or OSU is going to have a hard time reaching the levels of success that people here just assume Michigan is being held back from by bad coaching.
But the BPONE here is just out of control. People just bitch. So it stopped being fun. I used to hit this place up every day. Now I’m once every couple weeks. Oh well. Im more of a Wolverines Wire guy now.
Carlos has the greatest handle and avatar in blog history.
Just the other day, someone came up to me and said, "Sir, Maison Bleue is the greatest poster of all time". I hear a lot of people saying that.
It was me. I said that. However, I frequently question my own judgment, so the reliability of your source may be in doubt. I've heard a lot of former wives say that for instance. A lot.
But moving forward to where?
RollDamnTide had a rather good argument for this spot....for a time.
Then, of course, he outed himself one day in what became an epic thread.
Afterwards, when I became a mod, I actually tried to talk the user who was writing those posts into coming back to discuss it, but they declined. Oh well.
If we are talking strictly about his broadcasting acumen, he's shit at PbP; he needs to be the color guy. He is almost as bad about describing what is happening in action as Blaha is with MSU football.
The problem is that he’s somewhere between meh and outright bad at color commentary too (though admittedly, he’s way better at color than play-by-play)
Yeah- the broadcast will never let him go, so he needs to go back to color.
Or drop him down to sideline reporter. Should have open tryouts for undergrads to do the play by play. My guess is there a couple out there who could do a decent job, and a few dozen that will do it better than him.
Blaha has a huge disadvantage. He has Jason Strayhorn doing color. Strayhorn who is supposedly supposed to do color is just a spectator who gets paid and gets to watch the game for free. It's hard to keep your focus when he is cheering or booing before you get to get a word out about what happened.
Makes you wonder how so many mediocre at best people have such high vis, well-paying jobs.
Blaha has been calling MSU football for as long as I can remember, and I'm pretty sure Strayhorn is new-ish to the broadcast.
His style is not suited for the radio- he's good at calling Pistons games.
I miss Bruce Martin and Sid Abel
I miss Bob Reynolds play by play for the Lions.
ya, that strayhorn guy is terrible. msu had an awesome guy a few years ago. i believe he must have been an O lineman. did a great job describing plays and blocking action. caught a game driving from ann arbor. never got his name though. i'm guessing he was snapped up by someone else and given a pay raise.
Thank you
All does not equal some. Maybe listen to the interview first before posting. That would be the responsible thing to do.
Yeah, that's pretty damning. Openly questioning whether survivors are telling the truth and suggesting they are doing this for money is a bad look, Jim.
