What coaching???
January 1st, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
All coaches were terrible today. Don Brown included
January 1st, 2018 at 3:59 PM ^
Other than Metellus not trying to break up a TD pass and Kinnel getting roasted on one play in single coverage, the defense was fine. Hard to be dominant when the offense is tossing out turnovers left and right.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
Their first TD was terrible defensive playcalling. Blitzed every play and SC threw screens every play. Don’t tell me it’s “worked” all year. Air Force doesn’t count. Got to be better than that
January 1st, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
Woods was out of position/took a bad angle on at least 1 score.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:57 PM ^
Not elite. I’m tired of them coming up small when the game is on the line. Over and over and over again.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:32 PM ^
Play calling for the most part was terrible, but putting players who were clearing struggling today in difficult positions to produce was idiotic. When the run game was opening up early in the 4th and then we decide to throw and surrender a pick in the end-zone...amateurish.
I think Drevno is done.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
For the first time in the Harbaugh era, I don't have confidence in the future of this program.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
... yeah... the problem becomes, if he can’t fix it... who the fuck can? That’s where I’m at. Is it fixable?
January 1st, 2018 at 4:10 PM ^
Penn State looked exactly like we do now at the end of their Hackenberg era. But then they adjusted and brought in Moorhead and got out of the way.
Just like Michigan did on Defense.
It is absolutely fixable. But there needs to be the will to fix it.
Harbaugh likes to fiddle on offense. But he needs to put his ego to the side, get a top Don Brown-esque OC that can run an effective college offense, and then get the hell out of the way.

Who's the defensive coordinator? There's no doubt who it is.
Who's the offensive coordinator? If Drevno calls the plays but Harbaugh has to approve them, then there's no OC. If Drevno calls the plays but has to listen to Hamilton or Harbaugh first, there's no OC. If Drevno designs the offense but Harbaugh calls the plays, there's no OC.
Of course, there's the possibility that Drevno calls every play and Harbaugh doesn't meddle, which would be a separate problem.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:54 PM ^
Harbaugh is an offense guy. He's always been an offense guy. Deep inside, he wishes he could still be playing. He does not want to let go.
So he creates an ambiguous OC situation and still keeps his fingerprints on everything.
Unlike his approach on Defense.
But his approach is not working at a college level. There is just too much confusion. It looks like what it is . . . an offense by committee.
He needs to take the same approach that he took on Defense. Go get a top OC that runs an effective college offense like PSU did with Moorhead, and then get the hell out of the way.
But I don't know if he will do it, that's a hard internal conflict to overcome.
January 2nd, 2018 at 1:04 PM ^
This was my comment after the game as well. Harbaugh needs an OC, just one, who designs and calls the offense. He can have his input with ideas and strategy during preparation for an opponent, but we need someone to be the man.
Looking at the offense on gameday, it seems like what is mostly lacking is the ability to design around the pieces in place. The players aren't put in the best positions to succeed. The staff has their way that they want to run the offense, but not necessarily the best fits personel-wise.

Every time we play a good team
January 1st, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
Throw a smoke/stop route on the last possession on 2,3 or 4th down. SC was conceding it.
Worst time for DPJ to get the Yips
If the McKeon call works, it's genius.
Need that 3rd and 17 holding call. F refs forever.
I never wanna see Peters roll to the left near the goal line again
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
I think it is fair to criticize the entire staff.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:57 PM ^
I hope there will be less of them to criticize.
January 1st, 2018 at 8:47 PM ^
Changes/relatively significant changes are coming.
January 1st, 2018 at 8:58 PM ^
How long will we have to wait for news?
January 1st, 2018 at 9:46 PM ^
Always appreicate your info. Hope it's a massive overhaul on offense, starting with kicking JH's buddies out the door. Any insights into weather JH still has his fire? What happened to the guy who went for 2 gainst Carroll to run up the score? Now we just get bullied by Dantonio, and he seems totally fine with that. Would much rather have asshole Harbaugh back
January 1st, 2018 at 10:27 PM ^
relatively...I see what you did there.
January 2nd, 2018 at 8:18 AM ^
Hmm, I wonder if that means we'll be running for a new position coach sometime soon.
January 1st, 2018 at 5:05 PM ^
If you of all people are on the same page with the rational people criticizing, hopefully people like Ace/Brian stop with the endless excuses.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
We have coaches?
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
Fire Harbaugh now - program is bigger than he is.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
Sadly, I'm starting to lean this way.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
And replace him with... the Toledo coach? Harbaugh deserves criticism for this game, and the entire offensive staff needs to be evaluated. But firing him makes us... Tennessee? Nebraska? It's Harbaugh or Michigan gives up on ever being elite.
Also consider:
FSU: 7-6 this year.
Clemson: Lost a bowl game 70-33 in Dabo's 3rd or 4th year.
The fire Harbaugh take is so, so stupid.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
I’m not on the fire Harbaugh train, but Nebraska just bored Scott Frost...who is on his way to a 13-0 season with a win over a team that beat Bama less than 2 months ago. They are in great shape right now.
January 1st, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
That UCF team had much more talent than Nebraska has had for a few years. But yes, given their most recent coaching hire, maybe I should have left Nebraska out.
January 1st, 2018 at 5:38 PM ^
Coaches are evaluated by wins and losses. A five loss season and a team not looking prepared doesn’t make a observation stupid.
January 2nd, 2018 at 8:21 AM ^
But how does the one 5 loss season invalidate the two previous 10 win seasons? Nobody is saying they are OK with an 8-5 season, especially losing the games the way we did this year. But flipping out and saying "Harbaugh needs to go" is an irrational overreaction. The man has earned a long leash, and I will continue to wait for the turnaround.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
Yeah, let's can him over an exhibition game. I'm sure a young up and coming MAC coach would do much better.
You're an idiot and the reason why our fanbase is unbearable.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:26 PM ^
I feel obligated to mention that time we brought up the young up and coming coach from Miami of Ohio though.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
It is totally fair to seriously question Harbaugh & his boneheaded decisions at the point. But it is just absurd even think about letting him go, he needs to make some decisions on his staff this offseason or else there will be some very upset people in Ann Arbor..
January 1st, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
WTF! Some of you need to get a grip. So we had a down year with a young team. What about the past two years? The Program is fine. It’s all you negative whiny fans that are the problem.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
We don't need opinions from Harbaughs family now
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
All I’m going to say is there needs to be some major staff changes before next season.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
For the love of God , Get that idiot off the staff . Fuck, hire Tony Onesse from Ferris St . Anyone but Harbaugh’s Butt-buddy Tim.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
That Harbaugh calls the offense! He has the last day on every play called. The buck stops with him!
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
I'm out, wake me next fall if they win a few games convincingly.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
Not good enough, on any level. I sincerely hope there is a lot of reflection in Schembechler Hall over the next several weeks. Very disappointing the way the team completely fell apart down the stretch. QB play has been pretty bad since Iowa last season. That’s got to at least partially be on the coaching staff.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
"QB play has been pretty bad since Iowa last season."
100% this. Even the stuff Peters completes seems like screens or hots or short routes. There just isn't a viable dropback passing game right now against any team with a better than functional defense.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
Fairly obvious. This coaching staff can’t win big games and will choke leads away no matter how asinine in a manner they do it.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:57 PM ^
cause less anxiety than being a Lions fan.
January 1st, 2018 at 3:59 PM ^
well. 4 turnovers and too many punts put too much of a load on them.
The worst 2 play calls I can ever recall were the handoff to McKeon, and the 4th and 1 deep sideline pass with a minute five left in the game given how much trouble we have completing long throws.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
The worst play in history was not punting on fourth and ten deep in our territory. Harbaugh let the whole team down.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
Guess that is in my top 3 worst play calls of the game.
January 1st, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
How? They went three and out then missed a FG immediately after.
January 2nd, 2018 at 1:59 PM ^
It was still the wrong call. If we punt and the D holds we're in good position to score. Not punting put them in position to win with a FG. Getting lucky doesn't make it right.
