Their first TD was terrible defensive playcalling. Blitzed every play and SC threw screens every play. Don’t tell me it’s “worked” all year. Air Force doesn’t count. Got to be better than that

Play calling for the most part was terrible, but putting players who were clearing struggling today in difficult positions to produce was idiotic. When the run game was opening up early in the 4th and then we decide to throw and surrender a pick in the end-zone...amateurish.

I think Drevno is done.

Penn State looked exactly like we do now at the end of their Hackenberg era.  But then they adjusted and brought in Moorhead and got out of the way.

Just like Michigan did on Defense.

It is absolutely fixable.  But there needs to be the will to fix it.

Harbaugh likes to fiddle on offense.  But he needs to put his ego to the side, get a top Don Brown-esque OC that can run an effective college offense, and then get the hell out of the way.

Who's the defensive coordinator? There's no doubt who it is.

Who's the offensive coordinator? If Drevno calls the plays but Harbaugh has to approve them, then there's no OC. If Drevno calls the plays but has to listen to Hamilton or Harbaugh first, there's no OC. If Drevno designs the offense but Harbaugh calls the plays, there's no OC.

Of course, there's the possibility that Drevno calls every play and Harbaugh doesn't meddle, which would be a separate problem.

Harbaugh is an offense guy.  He's always been an offense guy.  Deep inside, he wishes he could still be playing.  He does not want to let go.

So he creates an ambiguous OC situation and still keeps his fingerprints on everything.

Unlike his approach on Defense.

But his approach is not working at a college level.  There is just too much confusion.  It looks like what it is . . . an offense by committee.

He needs to take the same approach that he took on Defense.  Go get a top OC that runs an effective college offense like PSU did with Moorhead, and then get the hell out of the way.

But I don't know if he will do it, that's a hard internal conflict to overcome.

This was my comment after the game as well. Harbaugh needs an OC, just one, who designs and calls the offense. He can have his input with ideas and strategy during preparation for an opponent, but we need someone to be the man.

Looking at the offense on gameday, it seems like what is mostly lacking is the ability to design around the pieces in place. The players aren't put in the best positions to succeed. The staff has their way that they want to run the offense, but not necessarily the best fits personel-wise.

Throw a smoke/stop route on the last possession on 2,3 or 4th down. SC was conceding it.

Worst time for DPJ to get the Yips

If the McKeon call works, it's genius.

Need that 3rd and 17 holding call. F refs forever.

I never wanna see Peters roll to the left near the goal line again

Always appreicate your info. Hope it's a massive overhaul on offense, starting with kicking JH's buddies out the door. Any insights into weather JH still has his fire? What happened to the guy who went for 2 gainst Carroll to run up the score? Now we just get bullied by Dantonio, and he seems totally fine with that. Would much rather have asshole Harbaugh back

And replace him with... the Toledo coach?  Harbaugh deserves criticism for this game, and the entire offensive staff needs to be evaluated.  But firing him makes us... Tennessee?  Nebraska?  It's Harbaugh or Michigan gives up on ever being elite.

Also consider:

FSU: 7-6 this year.

Clemson: Lost a bowl game 70-33 in Dabo's 3rd or 4th year.

The fire Harbaugh take is so, so stupid.

But how does the one 5 loss season invalidate the two previous 10 win seasons? Nobody is saying they are OK with an 8-5 season, especially losing the games the way we did this year. But flipping out and saying "Harbaugh needs to go" is an irrational overreaction. The man has earned a long leash, and I will continue to wait for the turnaround.

Not good enough, on any level. I sincerely hope there is a lot of reflection in Schembechler Hall over the next several weeks. Very disappointing the way the team completely fell apart down the stretch. QB play has been pretty bad since Iowa last season. That’s got to at least partially be on the coaching staff.

"QB play has been pretty bad since Iowa last season."

100% this. Even the stuff Peters completes seems like screens or hots or short routes. There just isn't a viable dropback passing game right now against any team with a better than functional defense.

well.  4 turnovers and too many punts put too much of a load on them.

The worst 2 play calls I can ever recall were the handoff to McKeon, and the 4th and 1 deep sideline pass with a minute five left in the game given how much trouble we have completing long throws.
