Greg Webb decommits from Penn State and commits to UNC
Per Mike Farrell's twitter;
Just got a text from his father that Greg Webb has de committed from #PennState and has committed to #unc
Webb is a 4 star DT, and the first player to decommit from PSU since the Freeh report. Be interesting to see if any more follow suit.
I have to believe there will be more.
Between the reputation of the program in its current state and the potential for severe sanctions, it will be amazing if they don't lose at least half of their recruits.
We are getting very close to the start of the '12 season. If strong sanctions come down the pike, it wouldn't surprise me if all players receive a release which allows them to leave the program and play somewhere else without the usual year delay.
Any reason stated or can we just assume this is Pedogate fallout?
A lot to do with it, family moving south military deal, scandal is driving force "@jmorr81: @rivalsmike nothing to do with the scandal?”
I guess he just preferred academic fraud instead.
Just the beginning...
Nice pickups by the Heels. Drennon was considering Texas and Notre Dame as well.
UNC is has been in mini tire fire mode since Mack Brown left. Even Butch Davis and all the NFL talent he brought in couldn't garner him a winning record. Somehow I don't think Fedora is going to fair much better.
Butch was 8-5 three out of his four years there.
Not really that impressive considering the talent level and relative weakness of the ACC
Looks like I fell victim to wikipedia tampering or something:
Tenure | Coach | Years | Record | Pct. |
---|---|---|---|---|
2007–10 | Butch Davis | 4 | 12-23 | .343 |

That will teach me. You win internets.
Not quite. He had wins vacated due to the transgressions.
Naw that's his official record. He went 4-8, 8-5, 8-5, and 8-5 but after the scandal they forfeited 16 wins from 2008 and 2009.
Crap, beaten to the punch
UNC had to vacate almost all of his wins. They played mutliple years with ineligible players.
Doesn't matter, our class will be full anyways after Treadwell and Green commit at the BBQ.
I'm sure it'll be tough for a kid to want to play there without knowing what the future will hold for the team. I'm sure they'll do fine with locals, but pending NCAA action you have to believe they'll take a hit nationally.
is beyond me.
Does anyone know if they can be on scolarship at another big ten school, assuming the ncaa grants them immediate transfers
