Friday Adult Beverage, Harbaugh Laments, and CFP Prediction Thread

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on January 7th, 2022 at 9:32 PM

Mates,

As the saying goes, we need to 'chill out'.  So many are amped about the uncertainty over Harbaugh.   Suggest a barbeque, adult beverage, and Harbaugh lamentations thread.  As for 'chill', it's -3 ambient temp up north, so we've got that covered.  Amazingly the barn pump hasn't frozen...yet.

1.  What is on your BBQ and/or in your cup?

2.  Lamentations for our FB coach?  Celebrations coming?

3.  I know there is a large contingent of 'I'm not going to watch another SEC game' folks, but the game is only a few day away.  Everyone says how gracious the Georgia fans were last week and they are a 2.5 point favorite.  With apologies to Mgohillbilly, he of the 'Tide is my avatar because I hate UGA', I have a feeling the Bulldogs might beat 'bama this time.  What do you think?

Hope you are having a fine start to your weekend.

I had a brisket sandwich for dinner and I’m drinking a Moscow Mule. Trying not to worry about Harbaugh, but it would be PEAK Michigan for our coach to leave after the best season in over 30 years. Bulldogs over the Tide, don’t see them getting beat twice.

Drinking Double IPA and playing AC Valhalla right now.

Signs from Balas makes me cautiously optimistic, but such is life. I am done betting against Nick Saban, Roll Tide.

-3 is fucking cold. But, can’t snowmobile without snow so ….

1. I tend to fast fridays. Founders Porter, Zombie Dust, some microbrews from Wisconsin and Minnesota (for my birthday, my daughter got me one of those things where I get a 12 pack every month from microbrews from all over the US). Also PBR.

2. none. Love Harbaugh. Always have (see avatar). Celebrations are over but I have a full lineup so far this year. 4 concerts (Tool, RHCP, Rage, Motionless in White) a comedy show (Bill Burr), trip to Mexico, and a golf trip to Raleigh NC this winter/spring.

3. Rooting for UGA. Wish they weren't in the SEC so I don’t have to listen to Kentucky fans celebrating like they had anything to do with it ….. “SEC SEC SEC!!!” …… stfu

Empanadas from Trader Joe’s for dinner that were quite good! Evan Williams bourbon in my glass. Thoroughly enjoying the Harbaugh to NFL chatter. It’s been quite entertaining and whatever happens, happens. Would prefer he stays though! Go Dawgs.

This sport isn't fun anymore.  It's whoever can pay the most.  I understand now and simply can't care too much about the future of CFB.

Georgia will win...  Then maybe Bama or TAMU or OSU... Same schools every year.

Sick in bed eating pizza, not drinking. I saw a few not-so-gracious Georgia fans on Twitter so my rooting interests have changed. Roll Tide.

Quit drinking and will be going to bed.

No lamentations, after 2021 I respect and accept whatever decision coach Harbaugh decides to make.  42-27.  B1G Champs.  Playoff bid.  As close to the top of the mountain as we have been in a very long time.

Don't care, won't watch.  Respect to Georgia for their play and Alabama for their sustained success but I probably just won't bother.  I can avoid a few million insurance commercials at least.

Burgers for a Friday....easy peasy. Just sparkling water for now, but Labatt later I imagine.

Harbaugh...geez lots of thoughts on this one I've expressed in other threads. Overall, it would suck to lose this staff after they have finally seemed to modernize somewhat this year. Also, overall, it would mean we can't have nice things.

My gut tells me he's trying to keep both options open, like he did last year. It wouldn't surprise me if some of this info about him trying to leverage NIL improvements out of the University was absolutely true. No way he wins a pissing contest with the Administration though. They clearly don't give two shits about football, except that it stay scandal-free. They will let him walk.

Does that mean we are screwed? I mean, probably. Jim got everything out of the team that he could this year, and this seems like our ceiling unless there are institutional changes. IOW, Jim got us to our ceiling, and he certainly could do it again. As far as competing with the consistently elite, that would seem to require institutional changes that Michigan may not be willing to make.

EDITED: And yeah, I imagine I'll watch the title game. It'll be high-level football, and it'll be exciting. Why not? After the Super Bowl, there's no more football, so I'll get as much as I can now.

1: No BBQ, just pizza tonight and some Torpedo IPA

2: Coach comes close to leaving but stays.

3:  Alabama wins and Saban announces his retirement shortly after.  That dude has been suspiciously cheerful after his wins this year.

1.  Evan Williams, because hey, it ain’t that bad.  Food; terrible wings from some new place.

2.  Harbaugh I hope is staying, but I am lamenting sweeping editorials from folks about NIL and what it takes and university motives and blah blah.  And Harbaugh’s motives are clear when he doesn’t talk and I think, represents himself.

3. Georgia for three reasons, they are stacked with talent, I like the dog, and they whooped us.  Why not lose to the best.  28-17

1. My last Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale

2. Harbaugh watch is entertaining. I think he stays but love the theorizing and conflicting  “insider” proclamations. Harbaugh is right to press for changes with NIL and I hope he’s asking for flexibility with transfers with the admissions office, too. The transfer portal is just as big a deal as NIL to future success.

3. I don’t care about the SEC rematch.

4. I apologize for my Dave Brandon NIL AD thread. I thought I had an interesting theory, but some MGOBLOG villains are not worth theorizing about (although I would have liked to read Wolverine Devotee’s reaction to my post. It would have been entertaining)

Just some wine and sushi

Harbaugh stays, because M gave him a big ass raise and promised to hit NIL opportunities as hard as aTm

I think UGA wins the rematch by a bit more than the spread.  Alabama doesn't run the ball well and Georgia will remember that this time. They will also remember how Auburn almost took Alabama down and recreate that level of pressure on Young.

My only SECFB Invitational Tournament prediction is that I will watch very little of it.

Although it is highly likely (when looking back to the semifinals results) that these are the two best teams, I still firmly believe that they should have played last week.  Georgia was soundly thrashed by Bama in the SEC ?Game and is rewarded with a path to the championship game for a rematch there? I'd rather that this rematch had been cancelled and Bama be declared champions (and I hate The Tide.).

No particular reason, but not drinking tonight...yet.

No

Burner accounts are social media accounts that people use to post anonymously in order to avoid being traced.  Yours is a burner account, as is mine, and everyone else I can think of here other than Brian & Seth.

I'm referring to someone who was just banned by Seth when I asked "Burner account?".

I know exactly who you're talking about or did you forget I already said "MS would be disappointed"?  After you gave him shit for being self virtuous about the value of exercise and here talking about drinking alcohol, I was (maybe not so?) obviously implying a likely difference of values between you two.

1. Well? After getting rid of 6 inches of snow from the usual places, the bride and I had to forego any genuinely pleasant beverages due to an early morning long distance driving commitment. Tomorrow night will not be the same excuse, definitely.

2. Warde is going to make our coach a very nice, "sorry about last year's contract" offer saying "very sorry, my friend, and congrats on the great year, here's to 10 more great years". Jim will graciously (and kind of awkwardly) say, "I understood what was going on, no problem, got a pen?" Scribbling noises are then heard. Jim then asks, "Any progress in getting us a group to coordinate the NIL issues we both know we've got to face?"

3. The Dawgs won't lose a second time to Bama. Bama has looked vulnerable this year and Georgia will shut them down this time.

Stay warm!

Go Blue!

I'm in AZ and it was a sunny 73 degrees today, so no chill here.  Sorry, not sorry!

I'm drinking an 805 lager from Calif.  Probably some bourbon soon.  Either Bulleit, Basil Hayden, or Buffalo Trace.

I believe Jim is staying.  I don't want to think about what happens if he leaves.

Totally rooting against Bama and Saban.  The analysts already cannot get off of his dick.  I want to slit my throat every time I see him in an AFLAC ad.  Coach Prime?  Must be the money?

Someone has to take down the Death Star.  I'll watch because it should be a good game, and I'm not pretending that my viewership will affect anything.

EDIT:  Glad for the return of the XM "Whatcha drinkin'" posts, even though the sentence, "What's in your cup?" sounds strange.
