Follow up: Drake Harris reopens recruitment, considering Michigan
To add on to the post from yesterday,
Drake Harris has reopened his recruitment and said he is considering Michigan.
Also considering 4 powerhouse schools in the south (Not sure how much I can/should say since it's paywalled)
Info from TomVH on ESPN. LINK ($)
EDIT: Reason is because he wants to focus solely on football

He opened up his recruitment because he's decided to focus on football only, not because of OSU

Right thanks, I kind of skimmed the article figuring it was because of yesterday's news

"I'm starting to look at more of the bigger football schools"
He was planning on being a basketball player first and foremost at MSU, but that changed after the hype he recieved at football.

well after this year, sparty may not be able to claim basketball for awhile.

Futher, Sparty is one of the "smaller" football schools. Little brother.

This is good news - hopefully.
This is not OT, though.

But these threads have to follow clarkiefromcanada's prediction for Drake Harris threads!
January 15th, 2013 at 11:17 PM ^
Exactly.
LSU gets "interest" next.
Now, they could be potentially acknowledged as a "powerhouse" football school (as opposed to Sparty) then I'm back in business.

Excellent news! We could use a big time playmaker at WR

Brough an extra large can of snake oil on his trip to Michigan...

Hopefully gardner and gallon pick up where they left off next year. It would be nice for WR recruits see borges' passing offense for themselves, rather than being told how it will be.

edit: I guess he is not the #1 wr lol.. thats what i get for beleiving what i read on rcmb without checking
January 15th, 2013 at 11:39 PM ^
Maxpreps has him #1 WR in the country. If you follow Maxpreps.
January 16th, 2013 at 9:19 AM ^
What would ever lead you to believe that a top ranked WR would have a long, drawn out recruitment in which he gets all of our hopes up? Wait...

Really, #1 WR?

I would love to see him in a winged helmet. Let's hope that Hoke & Co can get to him more effectively than Meyer, Saban, and Muschamp.
January 15th, 2013 at 11:30 PM ^
Looks like "Coach D" did not get to him at all.
Sparty...even their coaches entirely fail.

My brother watched a few G.R. Chritian games this year and talked to Drake's uncle a couple of times. Mr Harris told my brother that Drake grew up a UM fan and was surprised he committed to MSU. Also, his uncle said Drake has to do a little more work in the classroom, if you know what I mean. Not starting anything just passing info that was discussed by two fans at a high school ball game.
Yeah, I know, cool story bro.
January 15th, 2013 at 11:24 PM ^
A little more work in the classroom? No, I have no idea what that could possibly mean.

Is it a recruiting violation for internet message board commentators to pool together some money for a tutor?

: Brah, you're kidding right?
: He better be kidding! Us, we stayed true to our word!
No but seriously, can you blame them? Coaches are changing jobs during and after bowl season, coaches are rescinding offers, they're leaving their recruits. At the same time, you have these recruits getting attention from every school in the country. At that age, it's got to be really difficult to both handle the attention and to make what is one of the most important life decisions that they will make. You add the element of finding a perfect coaching staff and school, only to have the coach leave or to have the offer rescinded and...
EDIT: For the record, I agree with you about committment. However, I just think the reality of the current climate of recruiting does not really support that type of conviction.
January 16th, 2013 at 5:50 AM ^
He has a career as a "stunt" double for this guy should football not work out
January 16th, 2013 at 9:17 AM ^
This decommit seems like a bit of a different story, though, in that he's changing the primary sport at which he's being recruited. Like it or not, MSU is an elite basketball program; football, not so much.

More importantly, from his twitter... does anyone actually call MSU "Wide Receiver U"?

Nah the "for nothin" is a typo he accidentally added on.

Glad that MSU education is working out for you, Keith.

NFL hall of famer Charles Rogers agrees.
