Finebaum rips Harbaugh

I especially like the part when he says Harbaugh never beat Saban or Freeze for a recruit.  I guess Gary's offers weren't commitable.

[Ed-S: Consolidated this with thread by 1VaBlue1. Here's what he said]:

Angelique captured both Finnebaum's radio show and Hugh Freeze's call-in to the Mike & Mike radio show.  Most, if not all, of Finnebaum's comments came at the end of his show - designed to ellicit a response he doesn't have to acknowledge until he gets a chance to review them.  The coward ass cowardly bitch...

His satellite tour (last summer) was groundbreaking, but it also was about Jim Harbaugh. It was about promoting the brand of Michigan football, but mostly, ‘Look at me, I’m Jim Harbaugh. I’m taking my shirt off. I can come into Nick Saban’s backyard.’ But not once did he ever beat Saban for a player, did he ever beat Huge Freeze for a player or (Tennessee coach) Butch Jones, but that hasn’t stopped him from taking cheap, uncessesary shots.

What cheap, unnecessary shots were taken by Harbaugh?  He hit hard when provoked - to defend his program, but otherwise said nothing.  Finnebaum is a tool to begin with, and the lead SEC apologist to boot.

Angie has other quotes, also, including some gems from Freeze, and some good points from Mike Riley against the ban.

If you're gonna rip someone at least do a little tiny bit of research so that you don't sound that silly. That was just painful. Also, was he JUST complimenting Harbaugh not that long ago? Now he's annoying? Sheesh. Should've been a politician.

camp issue has made the SEC look legitimately foolish and petty.  In their push to end satellite camps to continue with their "conference superiority" the SEC has unknowingly revealed itself as transparently disinterested in the players and also surprisingly brittle in terms of its self-perception.  You will see SEC supporters and media close ranks now.  The conference looks stupid and they are becomming very defensive.

You know, because all of those radio hosts who want to spend more time with their family instead of doing their own investigating, interviewing, and working up the ladder.  All hosts should be relegated to local media only /s

I get the SEC network and watch Finnebaum ...its nothing but 24/7 Big Ten Bashing and Harbaugh bashing..These people down here think that Cheating is just fine and that what ever the SEC wants is what should be...Finnebaum is CONSTANTLY bashing the Big Ten and Michigan..CONSTANTLY

I'd like to know how Harbuagh "once again high-jacked college football"?  Did he rent air-time for radio and TV shows to talk about him?  Did he call up the NCAA/SEC/ACC and ask them to take up a rules change to ban satellite camps?  Did he ask Butch Jones and Gene Smith to make fun of Michigan just so he could take a "cheap shot" at them?

What an ass clown...

This is why I don't watch ESPN anymore...anyone on there basically just says what they want whether it's made up or not. I don't care to listen to you babble about what may or may not happen and act like it's a done deal. Just give me highlights.

It's great that none of these people have any facts to support their stance on the band and literally go as far as name calling because they don't have shit to support their argument.

what is the argument?  Has the NCAA even advanced any reasoning for the decision?  Even something as patently ridiculous as the protection of the student's "spring break time?"  I don't know as I have heard any reasoning, however pretextual it may be.

If the SEC has never lost a recruiting battle with Michigan, and won't anytime soon, why does the SEC give a rat's ass about Harbaugh? Apparently Harbaugh will only get SEC leftovers.

His comments about Harbaugh using satellite camps to garner attention are equivalent to someone accusing Finebaum of riding Harbaugh's coattails simply by talking about him.  Actually now that I think about it...

The annoying part is that Finebaum gets to talk about college football when he really should be at the bank cackling with glee as he forecloses on another poor widow.

Harbaugh blasted Freeze in the SI piece, criticizing a coach who makes $5 million a year and living in a big house, “saying he does not want to sacrifice his time. That is not a kindred spirit to me.”

You know, if I were a coach and someone among my colleagues basically said that they didn't want to do everything that they should be doing in order to earn their very healthy salary, I might take some exception to that. That sounds a smidge like someone saying they only want to do so much and no more and I would be upset that such behavior was being rewarded by the NCAA. That's a little irksome and I don't fault Harbaugh for calling him out on that - it's merely amazing that Freeze could be bothered to take time away from his family to respond to criticism.

Chairman Freeze does not appreciate your negative comments about the command economy he has so preciously built. Make rules so people can't out work you. That's always what's made the Sovie- err, America great!

Freeze makes more than the average father in the US in 3 or 4 days ($5M/365=$13K per day).  He's already made enough money to live an upper middle class lifestyle for the rest of his life and never have to work again.  Sounds like Freeze should quit his job, take his family to Haiti where the cost of living is low and help poor people.

And we beat the world for Rashan Gary.  What's with all these awful, poorly thought out complaints?  I'm so afraid Drew Sharp has an anthology of plagiarized Harbaugh articles in the hopper now.

Because he knows it's good radio, and he has a 5 month vacuum to fill.  Ugh, I remember listening to the Sirius guys trying to get through the offseason with yet another what-if scenario, just wanting to survive their 3 hours.

When your arguments are shit, when you are caught with your pants down, the real knee-jerk is to go the way of this SEC shill to attack ad hominem, substance be damned.

Harbaugh: "NCAA, SEC, ACC were wrong."

SEC shill Finnebaum: "Harbaugh is annoying."

Great argument.  Nice stab at changing focus away from the selfishness and greed of your SEC employer.

Pathetic.

Vintage Finebaum.  He's an idiot.  He's always been an idiot.  His radio show (the couple of minutes I've caught when flipping to better channels on my radio) is terrible.  But he's not paid to be objective; he's paid to get people talking, ironically given his "taek" on Harbaugh, mostly about him.

There's a reason the most enduring meme about him is drunk, semi-literate Alabama and Auburn fans calling into his show and screaming about nothing for 10 minutes.  He's like a Southern Jim Rome with less staying power.

Take a moment to reflect on thIs:

In one year Harbaugh has turned Michigan into one of, if not the, most hated school by the SEC and ACC, and at the same time, one of the most loved by recruits. He did so despite having losses to OSU and MSU in his first season.

Michigan is getting irrational hate from the proclaimed king of college football out of fear of what it is becoming.

If you didn't think so before then, this should be your alert: Michigan has arrived.

Yes there is more work to do. But we have the perfect coach who believes in outworking everybody every step of the way.

Yes, we need wins over our rivals. They will come in time.

If anyone for any second tells you that "Michigan is not back" just smile and tell them "we'll see."

These next few years are going to be glorious.

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

is going to be one hell of an entertaining season. They storylines are all there - and the best part is, we may very well have the team to back it up.

Looking forward to September with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!

It's getting really old that the 'press' is sick of hearing from Harbaugh. Hey, news flash, the only reason he is on TV, on the Radio, written about in ad nauseam is because of you and your breathren. Stop following him around like a little puppy dog. Stop looking for clicks off his coattails.

No one if forcing you to do anything... Paul Finebaum. No one is forcing you to read about Harbaugh, watch him on TV, listen to him on the radio. So just stop. If you don't like something then why would you bang your head against it.

LOL, Paul is a true jackass. His saying that Jim is a "look at me" kind of guy is the pot calling the kettle black. He says shit on TV, radio, and online all the time that is simply to get attention.

and YEAH, Paul, I'm glad Jim has done this silly shit because it DOES get attention from recruits. Michigan football has been shit for about ten years (with the exception of some bright spots), so yes, we need this kind of stuff to get Michigan back on the map...and Jim has already gotten off to a great start by going 10-3 (should have been 11-2, but whatever).

but he looks nothing like the beer swillin, t'bacca chewin, jort wearin, wife beatin, truck drivin, GED sportin, backward ass country folk that make up 98% of the SEC fan base. They recruited him from the northeast to make TV appearances on behalf of the conference because they couldnt find one in the South that would fit on the screen. JH is "fixinta" to make whoopin dat SEC ass an annual event ... aint that right, Pa?

When I saw what Dodds tweeted I wanted to join the party that roasted him.  However, those that are way more clever and carry much greater tweeter weight than I basically did what I had hoped!  The guy was shamed into the undergrounds.  My hope is that as this battle rages on (believe that it is only just begun) that Finebum, SEC slappies and the little dogs that follow (ACC, Sundried fuit belt conference, etc.)  all expereince the feeling of being the one who does not find the chair when the music stops.
