he is not sold on UofM's defense

I'm not sold on OSU offense.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:36 PM ^
Seeing as OSU's offense was sold for a bitchin' tattoo...
October 6th, 2011 at 7:20 PM ^
Nice to see you back ... So? Are you a "real" lawyer now?
October 6th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
Eddie George.
October 6th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
There's nothing to sell, by all appearances. Quite literally at OSU, the offense is "sold out".
October 6th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
Never realized that tat's and offense were so well correlated.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:37 PM ^
Come up with a funny/honest way to combine eddie george, osu, and the word "sold." There have to be many...
October 6th, 2011 at 12:37 PM ^
NW lost to Army who lost to SDSU who we beat 28-7.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:42 PM ^
Pitt beat South Florida who beat Notre Dame who beat Pitt ... Uhhhh wait a moment, wait a moment... I am detecting a failure of the AE35 unit...
So that logic doesn't work. Army's triple-option will confuse a lot of defenses. Illinois didn't do so well running against NU (although that in part is the fact that U of I was playing from far behind most of the 2d half). It's apples-to-oranges-to-pears.
Besides, is it just me, or do teams like NU, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana etc. seem to look EMBARRASSINGLY BAD in the OOC schedule, yet when B1G games start, they look 10X better and seem able of pulling upsets.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:55 PM ^
they can't pass (105th) - our only weakness
and they can't score (65th) - you gotta out score Michigan
they have no quarterback
gave up 21 to eastern illinois (spread out not all 4th quarter)
etc etc
October 6th, 2011 at 12:59 PM ^
I see a 31-16 win, or thereabouts. I'm just saying, just b/c we beat SDSU and SDSU beat Army and Army beat NU, doesn't mean we are a lock. Besides, you're ignoring the Persa factor in all that anyway. With Persa, NU beats Army I'm sure.
October 6th, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
I think Persa might have been pre-season all big 10 (at least in some publications). And he's barely played one half; the reason their QB #s are down this year. He is expected to play this Sat.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:56 PM ^
I like where your heads at.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:07 PM ^
Denard > cheetah shot from a cannon > anybody on NW

Hey Dave, turn around bro...
October 6th, 2011 at 12:46 PM ^
don't get it
October 6th, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
October 6th, 2011 at 12:44 PM ^
And then Tim Biakabatuka made an upset pick that was WAY more impressive than Eddie George's pick.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
GO POOP IN YOUR BATHROOM, EDDIE GEORGE. NUMBA ONE IN YA BATHROOM. YO.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:47 PM ^
Boosh.
October 6th, 2011 at 12:51 PM ^
That Eddie George also poops in his pants in the bathroom?
October 6th, 2011 at 12:49 PM ^
But I know one thing for sure you can still win the heisman and not beat Michigan, but you can't win a national title that way. Still stings a little Buckeye boy don't it?
October 6th, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
get outta here....no way...
October 6th, 2011 at 12:55 PM ^
keep on hoping Eddie...
October 6th, 2011 at 12:56 PM ^
Lucky for us, Northwestern has the 2nd worst ranked Defense in the big ten right now only ahead of Minnesota. As for their offense, their running back is out for the season and Persa is very limited with his abilities, seeing as he hurt his leg again last week when he was already limited in his mobility.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:21 PM ^
Not many analysts believe in us yet!
Eddie George, Robert Smith, Lou Holtz, wow, talk about biased BS!
October 6th, 2011 at 4:56 PM ^
Lou Holthz hasn't made an unbiased or insightful pick in his entire career as an analyst.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
Older tattoos used to have lead in the ink, and George is an older player. It's likely that the free tattoos he received contained lead in the ink, explaining the lead poisoning.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:25 PM ^
Everyone else. What's new?
October 6th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
I can't recall the last time the #12 team in the land was not expected to beat a mediocre NorthWestern squad. No respect... 31-13 UM
October 6th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
I am not listening to anyone who has a first name as a last name.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
Except for John Paul of course.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
October 6th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
Sure....ever since he started the whole mascot thing!
October 6th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
I shouldn't name my son Schembechler? Whoops...
October 6th, 2011 at 7:02 PM ^
How about a guy by the name of Robinson… Denard Robinson?
October 6th, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
That we're playing them away. Teams sometimes lose to inferior teams when playing in a hostile environment (jitters, crowd noise, difficult to get into a rhythm, etc.).
The perfect example of this, to me, would be the year #1 ranked Oklahoma lost to Kansas State in the Big 12 championship in Kansas City, which wasn't home but might as well have been. This same KSU team had lost to Marshall and Oklahoma State, which had lost to Oklahoma 52-9 earlier that year. But Oklahoma wasn't prepared, and Darren Sproles ran all over them. The whole game, OU looked frazzled and out of its element.
I'm not saying this will happen to us...actually I think we're going to win this one, and possibly by a handy margin. But I can see why the upset might seem like a smart pick for a professional commentator.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
Sure, but Northwestern isn't really a hostile environment. I think Northwestern is a decent upset pick based on Persa, but I'm not worried about the away factor until next week.
October 6th, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
I'm not saying this will happen to us...actually I think we're going to win this one, and possibly by a handy margin. But I can see why the upset might seem like a smart pick for a professional commentator. That, and maybe Eddie George is a little butt-hurt about his buckeyes getting raked by little brother . . . and the national media . . . and the fans . . . and the blogsphere.
October 6th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
Oh noes, next thing you'll tell me is that Robert Smith on ESPN thinks OSU is going to turn it around, UM is still not going to beat the Buckeyes, and he still plans on being a doctor.
October 6th, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
Be UM

ESPN writer predicts Michigan loss to Northwestern
The Detroit News
Michigan is a 7.5-point favorite in its game at Northwestern on Saturday night, but at least one analyst thinks the Wolverines will suffer their first loss.
ESPN's Will Harris predicts a 38-35 Northwestern victory.
"This senior-laden Northwestern group may be looking at the program's last good shot at toppling Michigan for several years," Harris writes. "The Cats have their backs against the wall and will make the most of the opportunity."
Saturday's 7 p.m. game in Evanston, Ill., will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
This is the first road game for Michigan (5-0), which lost to the Wildcats, 21-14, the last time the teams met, in 2008 in Ann Arbor.

Actually, picking against UM is VERY trendy right now. Mike Hugenin and Gary Ahern at Rivals.com as well as Phil Steele are all picking N'Western over UM.
If Persa is 100% (big IF, there), then I think N'Western has a decent shot (35%) at pulling off the upset.
October 6th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
That sounds like the same narrative that was prepared for M-SDSU earlier this year. Close win for the underdog, they rise up and do well, they have more to play for.
October 6th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
Eddie George still can't get over the fact that he can win the Heisman and still will never outrush Tim Biakabatuka.
October 6th, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
These predictions are great bulletin board material, and play right into Hoke's hands.
October 6th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
is not concerned with who the opponent is. They are focused on the coaches game plan and firmly believe that following the plan and playing to their abilities will result in a win. This is confidence in each other and the coaches. They know this year is different ...much different!
Go Blue!
