Draymond Green Injured

Submitted by Brick on

Draymond Green went down with a non contact knee injury in the Illinois game tonight.  I am no doctor but it looked like and LCL injury.  This is a big blow to MSU if the injury is serious.  They are not the same team without him.

Terrible thing to happen to a kid, much less a Senior. Quick recovery Draymond.

<br>I hate the Spartan Draymond, but the person Draymond seems pretty solid. Nevertheless, never want to see this happen to anyone

I never want to see anyone injured. Excuses or not. We've already beat them with him in the lineup three straight times. Obviously once with this current roster.

You can never say it's 'good' for a player to get hurt, even if it is somebody from the likes of MSU. Although I can all but guarantee their RCMB or whatever blogs they use would be blowing up with joyous comments if say, Trey Burke suffered an injury.

It was pretty bad. There was probably around 14 minutes left in the 2nd half and he took a step back to keep with his man when his knee kind of locked and then he went down. There wasn't any contact which makes you worry a bit more about it. He couldn't put any weight on it and he was attempting to put weight on it the remainder of the game (they kept panning to him on the bench) and he could never do it.

In games against us he's averaged 7 points (last three contests). Don't want him injured. He has not been the same player against Michigan.

Feel bad for Green - hopefully not a signficant injury.  He'll only have a senior season once, and you hate to see it ended prematurely because of injury.

"I am no doctor but it looked like and LCL injury."

Doesn't look like an LCL injury in my opinion.  Method of injury doesn't really fit.  Even if it was though, probably not a full tear and wouldn't cost him his season by any means.

Unlike the Izzone, I don't wish injuries on anybody.  If Green is out for a while or the rest of the season, that's obviously a serious blow for Sparty.  I don't feel sorry for them but I feel sorry for him.  Hopefully he'll be alright.

As for our game at Breslin, if Green is out, that's still a dangerous game because we play like crap on the road.  Iowa, the crapiest of crap teams destroyed us at their place.  Green or no Green, that's going to be a tough game.

However, if by some chance we DO win that game, I could care less if Spartan nation starts with the excuses of not having Green so the game doesn't count, yadda, yadda, yadda.  After all those years of going through Brian Ellerbe and partly Tommy Amaker, just the fact that we're at the point now where MSU basketball fans are saying, "We would have beaten you if ____________." that's pretty cool.

If Spartan fans can pound their chests over beating 3 of the worst Michigan football teams in school history, I don't have to feel ashamed in beating a MSU basketball squad without Green.  Plain and simple.

But again, that's a big if.  There are no guarantees playing on the road.

We really play positions by committee. He didn't play most of the game tonight so you saw more of a combination of Nix, Payne, Gauna, Dawson in there filling up the C and PF positions. Since we last played UM last, Dawson has stepped up his game big time (both against Purdue and tonight). Even though he starts at 3, he can also play the 4. I would expect him to be in the game a bit more if Green can't go.

We shouldn't be assuming we'll win at the Breslin, but we can still be honest about Green's unlucky misfortune . . .

. . . but also about the way in which he conducted (or will conduct) himself to the media while healthy . . . and now injured.

Basically, I don't think we have to unload positive vibes on Green if it's not genuine.

Call a spade a spade.  Draymond Green was a solid player with a big mouth on a good team with a coach with a big mouth.

I don't think Green said anything out of line to the media.  Yeah, he guaranteed victory.  What's wrong with that?  That just added a little spice to the rematch.

I'd like us to beat State at their best, especially at the Breslin. But man, even with Green in there tonight that game was painful to watch. Strug-a-ling would be an understatement for both teams, even by Joe Namath's standards.

It's unfortunate to see a college career end that way, especially for someone who genuinely cares about college ball rather than seeing it as a necessary evil on the way to getting paid.

But only a few degrees less unfortunate is that we won't have the pleasure of watching a cocky hater like Green walk off the Breslin floor disappointed yet again.  I'd rather see him disappointed by losing than by not even getting to play.

It was kind of strange seeing Green lay on the floor in pain and how long it took someone from the Spartan bench to go over and assist him, then it was just one assistant attending Green, who then hopped of on one leg.

Not with Sparty it doesn't.  They will never be convinced we have a better basketball team, not even if we win 12 in a row, so they will always be the fanbase of 1,000 excuses.  If it's not missing Green, it'll be the refs, God, bad luck, the refs, distractions, fatigue, the refs, the announcers, anything at all to avoid admitting we even have a good basketball team, let alone a better one.

On an unrelated note, there is some really delicious spartyfreude flowing out there...

For those of you who enjoy that kind of thing, I give you...

and a blast from the past

With that said, I hope Green plays on Sunday.  4 in a row would be a little empty without watching his spirit break before my eyes as he finished his career getting swept by Michigan.

Watching Lucas and Summers walk off the court was pretty sweet.  I could do with more of that.
