DJ Turner starting to move up into Round 1 projections
Here's another look at that 4.26 forty time:
Here's a look at that 4.26 speed blazing on the field, coming in from the top of the picture:
His top PFF grade might be helping him get into the 1st Round too:
Seems like DBs at Michigan have improved under the guy who looks great in shades.

He'll be able to afford a lot of buffs.
Is that our starting/backup PF in the bottom left? How did he get in that pic?
Let TWill cook!

Unbelievable work by the players, coaches and training staff to elevate and develop these Michigan men the past few years.
So excited to see what Clink does with Amarion Walker this year. 6.4 corner that already runs a 4.4....yes sir!

Good for him. I never thought he got enough credit last year.
April 12th, 2023 at 12:22 AM ^
That would be awesome if he sneaks into the 1st round. I think his size will probably knock him down to round 2 though.
I hope start seeing more players going earlier and earlier in the draft and making a big impact. I would be shocked if Mazi and Turner last longer than the 2nd round.
Speed has a way a rising on draft day.
DJ's basically the same size as Witherspoon, FWIW. I don't think he's a lock for the first round, but it wouldn't really surprise me.
April 12th, 2023 at 12:42 PM ^
Witherspoon is a lot more physical at the same size.

Darrell Green says hi!

Antoine Winfield Sr. and Mike Sainristil also come to mind. It's not like they could cover, say, a Cade Stover sized receiver or have any career longevity.
Turner Island...

This says a lot about the program and development. I was thinking 4th or 5th round. Like a similar prospect as Vincent Gray. I thought that Will and Mikey were more impactful at the end of the season.
I think Will and Mikey were more impactful late last season, but 4th or 5th rounder for DJ Turner? He has been a stud for multiple years. And no way is DJ Turner a similar prospect as Vincent Gray. Their body of work and athleticism are universes away.
Uh… what? Not only is Turner head and shoulders above Gray as a player, his athletic profile alone is enough to set him apart. Turner was never going past the third round once he was able to display is athleticism at the combine. NFL GMs eat that stuff up.
He’s an excellent press corner that has some issues with tackling and needs to get stronger so he doesn’t get bullied by physical WRs, but to the right team I can see him sneaking into the first round. Barring an unforeseen character flaw, there’s no way he goes after the 3rd round.

Mike played nickel which is diff than an outside corner.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I thought he wasn't a great corner. Yes he could keep up with the receiver but it seemed like he never turned his head around to see the ball. Basically a faster Vincent Grey.
What football games have some of you been watching? VG got burnt more in one game than Turner did in his entire career!
Recency bias is a hell of a drug.
April 12th, 2023 at 10:17 AM ^
Not only is your opinion unpopular, but it's also unrealistic, unreasonable, and unsupported by film and results.
April 12th, 2023 at 10:49 AM ^
I for one agree with your assessment. Great athlete but not great at making a play on the ball in man coverage.
Much better than Gray though.
April 12th, 2023 at 12:40 PM ^
Improving the head turning/timing aspect of his game could well be possible with continuing coaching and work. And it is not likely someone will be able to make significant improvement in their speed at this point in their career.
Looks like everyone wants to kill me for it. Oh well potato tomato
"This might be an unpopular opinion"
well duh
also pretty dumb
Dude, you just had sneak in one of your tweets to this post, didn't you?
The self promotion is strange.
Very WDish.
He has to keep his 15 followers happy.

Bring back WD!!!!
I’ve been assuming that Ezekiels Creatures is WD.
EC is Pond Time?
What the hell is “Pond Time” anyhow? And WTF does it have to do with pine nut pesto?
I - for one - do love pine nuts in my pesto.
A little tip: use some sundried tomatoes to give your pesto a little extra flavor!
April 12th, 2023 at 10:40 AM ^
I love cooking with sun-dried tomatoes, but sun-dried tomato pesto doesn't do it for me—simple, basic basil-based pesto is my preference. To each their own...
Pine nuts are a key component in pesto. Pinenutpesto is redundant.
You can substitute walnuts in a pinch.
A definitive "no" to walnuts. Pine nuts are better. Especially if you toast them a bit.
April 12th, 2023 at 10:43 AM ^
I agree that pine nuts are better, but they're also about 3x the cost of walnuts.
April 12th, 2023 at 11:16 AM ^
I said "in a pinch" meaning if you didn't have pine nuts available.
My 80 year old Sicilian mom doesn't like to pay for pine nuts (they are expensive as pointed out below) and uses walnuts all the time.
I agree that it is not quite as good as pine nuts but still really, really good.
It’s his thing unfortunately. Good forums need posters like him who are willing to keep posting threads to keep up activity, but damn if it isn’t incredibly annoying to read a page of tweets when one would suffice.
April 12th, 2023 at 12:02 PM ^
It's also annoying reading a page full of replies nitpicking a post.
I'm genuinely surprised that anyone reads past the first item in these tweet-barf posts.
Why do you always include your own tweets?
I mean, you already know the answer to this question . . .
I am not familiar with twitter at all. Is the reason simply to get more followers? If so, how does this help an individual? Do you get paid for having more followers?
April 12th, 2023 at 11:08 AM ^
I wouldn't mind somebody posting their own tweets if there was some meaningful information in it, or if it was entertaining or insightful in some way. Just posting a pic of Clink is nothing more than filler.
This deep CB class will benefit the Lions, who will be shopping for one or two.
As others have pointed out - coaching and development.
Out of curiosity - I would be interested in whether Michigan players capture these metrics when they join the team, prior to beginning their S&C. It would be an interesting “before and after” comparison.
Wishing all the best for DJ in his future.
Go Blue!

From DJ's "Hello" post:
Turner attended The Opening Regionals this year and recorded a 4.63 forty, a 4.34 shuttle, and a 34.9-inch vertical. I give it two FAKES out of five because there's no such thing as a real forty time.
That's one hell of a significant improvement from a 4.63 to a 4.26.
April 12th, 2023 at 11:25 AM ^
LSU, 4.63 to 4.26 is incredible. I wonder what his 40 was when he enrolled several years ago.
I just did not see it.
/ducks
On the Yang side to this Yin, I’ve seen a mock recently that had Mike Morris going in the fifth-round. He had been in the second-round of most mocks before the combine.
