Did autobench cost us?
Obviously DJ Wilson can pick up his third foul and we'd be in deep trouble still but did Wilson being on the bench for seven minutes cost us in a one point loss?
Playing Duncan robinson instead of Mo cost us the game. Not using that timeout cost us the game. Not getting back to back defensive rebounds cost us that game. No the auto bench did not.
And give Oregon a little bit of credit, no?
You forgot not rebounding missed free throws.

Also Wilson did miss a point blank shot that should have been a dunk.
the game. Beilein expected Oregon to foul again. Oregon almost cost themselves for not giving that foul, it was the most expected play of the night.

I feel like the Fates got caught sleeping, that step back 3 was SUPPOSED TO GO IN, DAMMIT
Missing wide open 3's should also be added to that list.
Mo might've been hurt.
It sure looked like he sprained jammed hurt wrist late in game when he slid backward on blocking foul. He came out and never returned.
I saw that too. I havent been able to find anything about wether he injured it or not. Based on how he had played up until that point i'm uncertain if he was kept out because of the wrist or poor perforamnce
Mo may have been hurt. Could definitely have used him on the boards.
We didn't auto-bench MAAR.
I would say coming out flat against a team that was ice cold to start cost us. We should have been in control all game, not playing catch up.
Also it would be nice if the refs called an obvious travel call that led to a 3, or called Dylan Ennis at his 7th school for a freaking offensive foul once.
I got really mad when they said he was 25. Graduate already!
He played a year at Rice, sat out to transfer to Villanova, played two years there, then grad transferred to UO last year. Got hurt, then same NCAA that ended McGary's career because "the rules" gave him a 6th year based on "totality of the circumstances" rather than the actual fucking regulation that two years have to be lost to injury.

That just makes me more pissed about Jeremy Clark.

it was the right call - it happened before the charge. If the foul was on the block/charge, holy shit that's a terrible call.
No, the lazy defense in the last minute of the game cost us. We had a 3 point lead.
You mean a missed box out. The defense itself wasn't bad (I thought it was an offensive foul).
The missed box out was the shitty defense he's talking about.
In the world he didn't put Wagner in for the free throw box out/rebound is a great mystery. Robinson gets out muscled all the time on defense.

idiot announcers said Duncan, but it wasn't.
DJ got beat clean from inside position on the FT, it was a very bad moment for him and for us.

Boxing out is a part of defense.
Oregon made us look white-collar. They got to the rim, we did not.
I don't know. I don't think so, but I need to replay all of that game in my head first.
It seemed a weird game to me...can't quite put my finger on it. We missed too many shots we needed to hit, I guess is my first inlking of what happened. Also Moe must've really hurt his hand...not that he was doing much.
We can second guess every decision in a game this close. Up 3 with a chance to rebound a missed free throw...that was the turning point of the game. Perhaps Mo should have been in to rebound then call a timeout...offense/defense switch, but really hard to criticize Beilein this game.
I'd say no. Not scoring 1 point for the last 2 minutes of the game cost them.
Correct
Moe Wagner going like 0-for-10 from three didn't help....
My feeling is that these guys were in a state of consummate grace, playing every couple of days for weeks. Suddenly get four days off you can crash and burn, begin to feel those tired muscles, the weight of the world.
The old matador D reared its ugly head against a pretty quick team, too.

wish we had played Tuesday, in retrospect. At our best, I really feel we were a better team than what Oregon had on the floor.
His mechanics seemed off to me. His feet just weren't under him, and I felt like he was falling forward on his shot.
I read something about Beilein working on Wagners release being at 45 deg with some fancy analytics or something
None of those looked very 45 degrees today

Some looked like they might hit the ceiling!

Let's hope he's back and builds from this. The ceiling is the roof, or whatever the fuck MJ said.
Shooting badly and Oregon was probably a better team...

Oregon is a better team. We played our worst game in 2 months, Mo hardly played and we lose by one. Should've blew them out.
March 23rd, 2017 at 11:35 PM ^
Oregon was absolutely not the better team. Unfortunately they were tonight. And were still lucky to win by one. We win that game 6 out of 10 for sure.
...and they were missing one of their best players.
we lost by one point. you can name 2 dozen factors that "could" have cost us the game, but what's the point?
we had a magical run, played hard and came up literally inches short (kind of like football). let summer begin!
We all know he is the nucleus.
When DJ missed that layup/put back my wife and I both yelled! Grrrr! Two of Duncan robinsons threes were in and out too.
There's three more coulda woulda shouldas right there!
Really really proud of this team. Hope our two big guys come back next year. Could be another great run if they do!
No one stepped up this time. That's what cost us.
Walton and Irvin didn't step up?
Those two are the only reason we didn't lose by 20
Translation: So Walton and Irvin did step up.
Take your L and be quiet.
March 23rd, 2017 at 10:17 PM ^
Uhhhh yes. That is exactly what I was saying. They obviously stepped up
