I'm sure the exposure Michigan provided has helped, but Devin was a damn good player and I think he'd have had most of these opportunities regardless.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
Poor Devin
October 7th, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
Nebraska definitely sucks, but Rutgers has a very solid defense as well. Clearly their offense remains an issue.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
Rutger is 1/6 in 3rd down conversions. NU is 1/5.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:29 PM ^
He is a really entertaining announcer.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:30 PM ^
Hoping Gardner can find his way to an ESPN studio gig...he's better in studio, IMO.
Jake Butt on the other hand...he is EXCELLENT as a color analyst.
Gardner seems to be made for the College Football Live, College Gameday type of gig like Desmond has. Great personality, solid takes, great insight...he's solid as a color analyst but he gets excited A LOT. He is like a non-perverted RGIII when he calls games.
...Gardner is also excellent in hosting interviews.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:37 PM ^
I've never seen three OPIs in a game.
Devin Gardner does not approve.
October 7th, 2022 at 11:15 PM ^
Yeah. I was thinking that too. Then a fourth.
Anyone else notice the orange glow some of the Rutgers people had? I didn't realize they still did that in Jersey.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:37 PM ^
That was the worst OPI call I've ever seen.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:05 PM ^
No kidding. I've never felt compelled to root for (or care remotely about) Rutgers in my life, and I was incredibly angered by how unconscionable that call was. Almost certainly cost Rutgers points.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
Can an interim head coach be fired? Asking for a Nebraska friend...
October 7th, 2022 at 8:39 PM ^
Aaron Lewis just deleted Casey Thompson.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:39 PM ^
Aaron Lewis sighting.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
I am sure this is exactly how Nebraska thought things would go for them when they joined the Big 10.. getting shut out by Rutgers
October 7th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
With Scott Frost gone, I no longer hate Nebraska. Do I hate Rutgers with Schiano there? Tell me who to cheer against, please!
October 7th, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
You could hate Schiano if you want. The man turned us down (oof) when Lloyd retired, and then later worked for OSU.
Otoh, he seems to dislike OSU now.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:47 PM ^
I still hate Nebraska. Fuck Big Red. And Li'l Red too.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Thanks for the reminder.
I like that he sounds excited, just cuz it's football.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
Rutgers is absolutely dominating Nebraska.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
Dull game, but Devin's done his best to make it sound exciting. I want to keep watching just to hear his commentary.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:18 PM ^
I love Devin’s observations and analysis. He’s already a star as a broadcaster. Sky is the limit.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:29 PM ^
Nebraska claws through the Jersey swamp muck for a touchdown. Rutger 13 - Defrostees 7.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:30 PM ^
WTF is Rutgers doing. Simon at QB was the only real spark they had on offense in this game and they keep him on the bench to run two wildcat plays?
October 7th, 2022 at 9:36 PM ^
This game is reminding me of our 2021 Nebraska game. Same 13-0 halftime score followed by a NU TD to open the 3rd. Rutgers completely dominated the first half but didn't put the Huskers away.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:40 PM ^
If Simon throws that to the guy running down the sidelines instead of the short route, that's a big gain.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:47 PM ^
Maybe it is my home system but the sound is so muddy. Hard to hear the announcing against the crowd and loudspeaker volume.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:04 PM ^
The difference in athlete is so noticeable. The jukes by Nebraska runners are useless. Their QB running looks like he's slightly jogging
October 7th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
Just like that Nebraska has the lead. Fuck Nebraska!!
October 7th, 2022 at 10:13 PM ^
Just turned it on to watch Rutger do a Rutger.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:14 PM ^
Rutgers backup QB came into the game and gave it right to Neb
October 7th, 2022 at 10:24 PM ^
He looked square at the guy in white and red baiting him to throw it, and...he threw it.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:21 PM ^
Tuned in for Devin Gardner and this is a better than expected game. Also Devin is excellent, has a very bright future! His voice gives me a WTKA vibe, love listening to him when he's on!
October 7th, 2022 at 10:23 PM ^
Ugh, four turnovers and, like, a dozen penalties, all in crucial situations. This game makes the Ghost of Vince Lombardi cry.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:21 PM ^
Nebraska--crawling their way out of disgrace. They've heard our shit talk, and they don't like it dammit!
Defrostees 14 - Rutger 13
October 7th, 2022 at 10:27 PM ^
Why is Rutgers burning all of their timeouts with 4:17 left and Nebraska in 3rd and 10??
October 7th, 2022 at 10:27 PM ^
Rutgers has completely blown this game. Terrible play calls, shuffling QBs, turnovers and just thinking a 13 point lead is enough to win.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:27 PM ^
Like everyone else, I'm finding myself strangely annoyed that Rutgers is blowing this.
Easy there with the timeouts, Schiano.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:34 PM ^
Seriously! I don't know why, but I am intensely irritated with the mind-numbing fumblings of Rutger here.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:29 PM ^
Wow. James Franklin now coaching Rutgers from the box? Two timeouts on defense in a row?!!
October 7th, 2022 at 10:29 PM ^
late 4th quarter timeout when you are down when the clock is already stopped. Keep rutgering on.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:29 PM ^
Why the hell did Schiano call two timeouts in succession?! The clock was already stopped!
Where's your goddamn Madden kid, Greg?
October 7th, 2022 at 10:31 PM ^
Dude, Abraham, what are you doing? You had the guy stopped 10 yards short of the marker. Brutal.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:31 PM ^
Rutger blows its last timeout with 4 minutes left in a 1 point game.
Then: A personal foul after the play after a 3rd down stop.
Oh, Rutger, don't you ever change...
October 7th, 2022 at 10:32 PM ^
Gerg Schiano. What a fucking mess.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:32 PM ^
Wow what a bonehead personal foul on the Rutgers defensive player. Holy ineptness. Rutgers blows back to back timeouts then commits a a terrible personal foul after a 3rd and 10 stop. Rutgers gonna rutger!
October 7th, 2022 at 10:33 PM ^
Rutgers hasn't won a home big ten game since 2017 vs maryland? Seeing how they are closing this game i'm not surprised.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:34 PM ^
And Nebraska has lost 10 straight 1 possession games
October 8th, 2022 at 8:49 AM ^
So do we now know what happens when an un-moveable force meets an unstoppable object?
October 7th, 2022 at 10:36 PM ^
Good grief, Nebraska could win the Big Ten West.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:36 PM ^
This ridiculousness from Nebraska makes me want Rutger to make a stop, then win on a walkoff field goal.
