Dee Hart Officially Gone/To Bama
Just received this tweet from URecruit's Jeff Contizano
Orlando FL. RB Demetrius Hart has eliminated Michigan. Down to Auburn and Alabama.
So the most dramatic recruitment that I can remember is over. In a way, this is almost a relief.
EDIT: I don't have premium, but there appears to be an article on the front of Rivals that suggests the same.
EDIT EDIT: He then promptly turned around and committed to Bama?
Looks like Hart has already committed to bama.
Just got off the phone with a source and Dee Hart has committed Alabama.
Evidently he's wanted to for a while now?
I love to see a kid like Dee Hart want to commit to a school so bad and that school finally accept it. He is ecstatic and I just love that!
Also, see comment from JC3 further down the thread.

If Miss State did that to us yesterdday, I don't even want to think about facing Bama in 2012.
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
Alabama / Michigan 2012 in Dallas. Dee should be the starter by then, no?
edit: beaten to punch, that's what I get for pausing while replying to watch the Lions.

At least we'll have the first non-CC thread with over 200 comments in a while.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
I hope it works out for you and Saban honors your scholly all four years.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
Well at least he will have fun being Trent Richardson or Michael Dyer's back up for his college career. Best of luck to him.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
Dyer, maybe. But Richardson will be a Junior next year...with a high possibility he leaves for the draft following the season.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
Alabama has two four-stars behind Richardson, including Eddie Lacy, who looked very capable against the Spartans yesterday.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:52 PM ^
Isn't he a special teams beast too? Or am I mixing him up with someone else.
January 2nd, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
an every down back. He's not an Ingram. Besides, I feel like top RB prospects now don't like carrying it 25-30 times a game in college. They prefer to share carries, get their touches, and not get run down before the NFL.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
Yes I forgot Richardson will probably go pro after next year. There is also a possibility that Bama gets Isaiah Crowell which would hurt Dee a lot to get playing time. I believe he's going to Bama though, he said there was a 90 percent chance him and Clinton-Dix play together.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
Richardson is a sophomore and it wouldn't surprise me if he left after his junior season.
EDIT: Dammit, I again come late to the party after opening multiple tabs.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
Were we to cheap to pony up the $180,000? Does he not want to miss out on the rest and relaxation that will occur once the death penalty is imposed?
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
Don't be that guy.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
Not surprised, so much negative going on surrounding our program, won't be surprised if he isn't the last one that has already committed to decommit. Again people can be changed prior to signing day, after all Auburn was once out of it for Dee as well.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
remember when we were 5-0 and about to play MSU, and Hart committed the night before that game?
Oh well. One more spot for the other remaining targets.
Does this mean Justce Hayes is a RB now, or is he still a slot (my guess would be slot still). Bring on Thomas Rawls?
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
I think we're pretty stacked at RB. I'd like to see Rawls as part of the class regardless of what happens.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
This^^
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
Are grades still the issue? Sam W is very high on this guy. Says his style reminds him of Jamal Lewis, not that he will be.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
Grades are the only issue. If he was a straight A student, he would have been in the class a long time ago.
January 2nd, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
but i'm going to say that we're stacked with mediocre running backs. theres no one to compliment denard. sure vincent can catch and block well, but if he gets more than 5 yards on a carry it's usually because you can drive a car through the hole. maybe i'm not being understanding enough, but you'd think one of our running backs would have a good game once this season. dee hart was hopefully going to be that playmaker, not anymore though
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
I'm still in a state of mourning, and I have just assumed for weeks that Hart was already gone. Best of luck to him.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
Kinda makes me wish I'd spent so much time and energy contributing to those genius threads about whether or not Dee's decision will influence Brandon's coaching considerations...
PS- No, not really.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
That's why I said it's kind of a relief. This has been in the making for a long time. I'm glad he finally officially ended it.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
At first blush it's surprising that Auburn is still on the list of so many top recruits with all that's going on, but the f'ed up thing is that the Cam Newton fiasco may actually help Auburn's recruiting.
<br>
<br>"Look, Ma, Cam got $200k to play football at Auburn and faced no consequences. If he can fetch that much, why can't I?"
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
Mercy killing.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
OK, fine...let's move on. I wish the kid well, but frankly, I'm sick of Dee Hart.
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
been sick of him for a while
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
Agreed, this kid was starting to remind me of Alex Legion. Nevertheless, good luck to him... it's just that I don't have any patience for the drama.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
No need to panic, we have plenty of good depth in our back field. Fitz will be a great back if he can just stay healthy. The world is not ending!!!
Good luck Dee!

I really hope people don't start flipping out over this. The coaching situation will impact UM much more significantly than Dee's decision.
If we get Harbaugh, for instance, we will gain a lot more over the next year or so in terms of recruiting than we will lose. If we get an off the national radar guy like Hoke, I expect to lose a lot more than just Dee.
There is much more to worry about right now than regarding UM than this one recruit.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
If we get Harbaugh, I'm not so sure he would have fit in well in the power-I anyway.
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Bama runs a pro style/power running offense too.
January 2nd, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
I never said he was going to be a good fit at Bama
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:03 PM ^
I don't think we have the energy to flip out over one recruit right at this particular moment.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
If it eases anyone around here,
Stanford currently has 4 (!!) RBs committed.
Remound Wright
Scout: 4* (#22)
Rivals: 3* (5.6)
Jordan Perkins
Scout: 3* (#46)
Rivals: 3* (5.6)
Kelsey Young
Scout: 4* (#18)
Rivals 4* (5.8)
Amir Carlisle
Scout: 4* (#16)
Rivals: 4* (5.8)
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
Yummy.
January 2nd, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
Did I miss something; is JH one of our silent commits? If he does not end up in AA then none of Stanford's RB commits really matter.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:52 PM ^
I believe Dee saw the writing on the wall. Can't really blame him since he seemed to grow more enamored with the idea of playing in the south as the weeks went on.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
"the Jim Harbaugh fantasy staff."
Can't say that I do, either.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
.....This might be the final straw for me. I'm still hungover but fuck it, I got the week off.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:55 PM ^
....its going to be painful if he goes to Alabama and we have to see him in 2012.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
He might still be buried on the depth chart
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
He will start hart just out of spite.
January 2nd, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:59 PM ^
We dong have three more years like this going through another complete change in philosophy..
January 2nd, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
I think we'll be seeing more Eddie Lacy, Corey Grant, and Isaiah Crowell (if he comes), than Mr. Hart.
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
The exodus begins
January 2nd, 2011 at 2:57 PM ^
I wouldn't expect too much
