Dan Mullen spoke way too soon
Florida players stop all team activities because players test positive for Coronavirus.
October 13th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
I guess he really is a Florida man
October 13th, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
We should really have a Florida Man of the Week post.
Congratulations, Dan Mullen! You're FMOTW. For now. It's only Tuesday.
October 13th, 2020 at 7:16 PM ^
With all due respect, this isn’t even close to the level of FMOTW...
October 13th, 2020 at 7:56 PM ^
This isn't even close to level of the due respect.
October 13th, 2020 at 11:08 PM ^
I find it almost as difficult to type FMOTW than Florida Man of the Week. And I know my way around a keyboard.
October 13th, 2020 at 11:52 PM ^
Nothing to be ashamed of. We fast typists have the words and sentences in our heads and our fingers know how to spell and zip it out. For acronyms we have to shift our thought patterns to first think out the whole sentence, then think the capitals, and then have to deal with the shift key or turn on and off the caps lock.
Of course I'm acronym-challenged. Or we're all acronym-overloaded. Haven't figured that part out yet.

HFTPOY?

ETOTMAMTFO.
[Even That One Took Me a Minute To Figure Out.]
Bravo.
October 14th, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
Ya, but HIS GOVERNOR passed a law!!!
October 13th, 2020 at 4:58 PM ^
Game status to be re-evaluated Wednesday.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
Those Aggies infected them Gators!
October 13th, 2020 at 11:08 PM ^
Guess that's what he meant by saying the crowd had a huge effect on the game.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:04 PM ^
I think he was speaking as a football coach, not as an infectious disease specialist.
October 13th, 2020 at 6:17 PM ^
**as an unprincipled fool**...there, fixed it for you.
October 13th, 2020 at 6:42 PM ^
Right, because football is way more important than public health and basic human decency.
October 13th, 2020 at 9:47 PM ^
Who said it was?
October 14th, 2020 at 11:12 AM ^
Well, More NFL players have been hospitalized this season with injuries than Covid but keep on being virtuous. If we wanted human health and decency, we would not play football.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:04 PM ^
Was thinking the same thing when I saw the ESPN ticker.
Gators gonna Gator
October 13th, 2020 at 5:05 PM ^
Cant lose if ya don't play !
October 13th, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
like my pappy used to say (god rest his soul), "never trust a grown man who wears a visor"
October 13th, 2020 at 5:22 PM ^
What if you want the sun-blocking functionality of a hat, but the breath-ability of no head covering?
October 13th, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
I'll bet you wear sweater vests.
October 13th, 2020 at 11:55 PM ^
Now that I turned 40, im using the hell out of that line.
October 13th, 2020 at 8:17 PM ^
U of M trucker hat.
October 13th, 2020 at 11:44 PM ^
Three words: mesh back hat.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Your Pappy was spot on!
October 13th, 2020 at 7:08 PM ^
Kiffin wears one ....sooooo
October 13th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
That's my mantra as well. It started with Spurrier for me, then Kiffin, Smart, etc. I also hated Nussmeier's visor look when he was our OC.
October 14th, 2020 at 12:44 AM ^
Did your dad really say that? Because I sort of like to wear visors and I consider myself trustworthy. I have a large head and unlike a traditional hat the visor doesn't accentuate the size.
October 14th, 2020 at 12:01 PM ^
no
but I still believe it to be the truth
October 14th, 2020 at 11:13 AM ^
I used to love watching Spurrier throw his around. And he wore it well, I'd say.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:23 PM ^
College football coaches are less and less likeable by the day. They have a big opportunity to lead by example and instead they are taking masks off to yell at players. Bitching about not being able to practice on election day. Cheating. Protesting to play an ENTIRELY unnecessary game during a global pandemic. What a bunch of entitled assholes.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Well, if you set up your life to require cash flow of hundreds of thousands of dollars per month, and now that cash flow is threatened, you’d be panicking too.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:48 PM ^
I think they've always been this unlikeable, it's just that social media and the media in general does a better job of covering and exposing these mask off (no pun intended) moments
October 13th, 2020 at 7:04 PM ^
And don’t forget NFL Quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers bitching about not being able to leave his million dollar house in Green Bay for his other million dollar house in Cali. What a douche
October 13th, 2020 at 7:49 PM ^
Pretty sure he's always been a douche. He just gets douchebolder the older he gets.
October 13th, 2020 at 7:08 PM ^
Turns out most movies featuring major college football coaches actually portray them accurately.
October 13th, 2020 at 8:13 PM ^
Couldn’t agree more but now, college football is multi-billion dollar industry with universities paying 5-9MM to a head coach with the catch being a championship of some sort in short order. Look at Texas, ready to run Herman out. As we know, it takes time to build a program, especially a blue blood that has a razor thin margin of error.
this doesn’t excuse his comments on the pandemic and player safety.
October 13th, 2020 at 11:13 PM ^
Only problem with this is I still think it pales in comparison to the things we've seen with domestic abuse, rape, etc. I wanted to root for Arkansas to win last Saturday but their OC is Kendall Briles. Ole Miss has Durkin. Accepting those guys with welcome arms is way worse than being careless about covid in my opinion.
October 14th, 2020 at 8:50 AM ^
I think these are both the root of the same problem. They don't care about anything that happens outside the football field. If it helps them win and make millions, who cares? That's their opinion at least.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:34 PM ^
Amateurs. They should've run the 'rona through their team months ago as Clemson and LSU did.
How else you gonna get that HERD MENTALITY? -Coach O
October 13th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
People can't tell me Dabo didn't do it on purpose!
October 13th, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
Coach O is probably wishing he could use Covid as a way to get out of some of their upcoming games! Personally, I hope they don't get let off the hook and have to let their losing season play out.
October 14th, 2020 at 6:19 AM ^
It would be interesting if we later find out that getting Covid had a small but relevant impact on player performance. Especially if Michigan or another school easily wins the NC and SEC defenses continue to perform like they did last weekend.
October 13th, 2020 at 7:37 PM ^
If Hoke had 2019 Joe Burrow in 2011, he also would have a national title.
Orgeron had his Chizik year, now back to third or fourth place in the SEC west indefinitely (or worse this year)
October 13th, 2020 at 6:04 PM ^
Almost every single view expressed by what I'll diplomatically call "Covid Optimists" has turned out to be incorrect. Add this to the list of statements that most notably indicated that the virus would magically disappear by Easter. Or, my favorite, that it would disappear the day after the election.
October 13th, 2020 at 9:57 PM ^
I had some idiots tell me that earlier today as we were waiting for carry out.
October 14th, 2020 at 9:41 AM ^
The owner of a company that I work with just dropped the "it'll disappear right after the election... we have had the cure" bs on me last week. This is a college educated man, in a position of authority. Lots of people depend on his judgement to make their living.
There are no words.
