Interesting interview.......
Mod edit: Left the link but we can't leave up a copy/paste job of someone elses article. When clicking the link the interview is on the second page. JGB.

First, link the interview next time.
Second, not a chance in hell unless he brings paddle pride stickers and changes the Michigan tradition completely.

Thought it would be easy to just paste because it was on the second page. Instead of the "too much text crowd" I would of gotten the "what the hell does this have to do with PJ Fleck" comments.
People are lazy and complain and then when it is spoon fed they complain. But datz the internets.

it's actually a copyright violation to paste entire interviews, dude, and the site could get in trouble for it.

tl:dr :/

From 1-11 to 6-3? Nice.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:06 PM ^
Plus, he wears his damn headset. SCORE!
November 5th, 2014 at 3:59 PM ^
Can i get a TL;DR?

First, the link works but the interview is on page two. Second, you can't paste a whole article in an OP, find a couple money quotes and link to it and say what you want to say.

PJ might be a hot name in a couple of years, but hasn't done enough to merit a job such as Michigan yet.

As a WMU student I think he's one of the best coaches in the country. I would take him if he left the traditions alone and just coached the team.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:14 PM ^
This time last year people were saying that he was one of the worst coaches in the country. Now he is the cat's meow.
This is so ridiculous. PJ Fleck hasn't won anything yet. Let's see him win big at WMU like Kill did at NIU before "taking him" for a mid-level job. UM is on a whole other level.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:22 PM ^
I see it everyday. All of his best players are freshmen who have already been developed in great MAC players. They could win 7-9 games after going 1-11 last year. Pretty impressive. Although, I agree with you that it's too early to hire him. I see him at a USC, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame level job someday.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:35 PM ^
Ron English took EMU to 6-6 two years after going 0-12. I would hold off on prognostication of his future based on one season. Gary Darnell and Bill Cubit had some success too.(But no MAC titles)
Let' see him win and win consistently. I'm talking MAC titles--something WMU hasn't won since 1988.
November 5th, 2014 at 6:58 PM ^
Gary Darnell was great at leaking possble interest from larger programs and saying stuff like - "hey, it's a good sign of what we've accomplished here if the big schools are trying to hire me" while annually losing to Central. Lather, rinse and repeat until he got his extension. Then he got fired.

country... As a FROSH... First in rushing TD's by 4. Second in yards and he had to sit out a game with concussion like symptoms. Oh and his RB coach is Mike Hart. So yeah it's his 2nd year, but any big time program that doesn't take a look at him should be slapped.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:51 PM ^
Let me reiterate what Quattro just said, its lunacy to think that he's the right guy for the job right now. As a former WMU alumnus there is no way that Fleck is qualified for the Michigan job, he needs to go the Brian Kelly route where you work your way up at every level. Let's see how these next 2-3 years go, then see which lower tier power 5 team hires him. He still has loads to prove at the D1 level

The tie was a nice touch. I love gimmicky shit like that. Fuck Western.

Western is a fine University with a lot of tradition, young man.

1: That is not 30,000 fans.
2: That is the lamest song ever played at a football stadium.

1: That is the student section at the end of the 3rd quarter of a rainy night game.
2: At least it is original, unlike Seven Nation Army, Sweet Caroline or Thunderstruck.

1: True, but in 3 home games this year the most fans they've had was 22,226 against Murray State, and last year they broke 20k fans only twice, the most being about 24k fans.
2: I'll maybe give you Sweet Caroline, but no fucking way is Row Row Row Your boat better than 7 nation army or Thunderstruck, played out as they may be.

That's the Draft Express stock beat. They play it behind every scouting video they make:

PJ will be a nice get for Rutgers or Indiana in a few years time.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:23 PM ^
A guy like this would be a perfect "coach in waiting" kind of guy. Bring him on as a coordinator and let him marinate in all things UofM for a while. It won't happen, but we need to start growing the coaching tree.

won at (NTM) Miami last week 41-10. The same Miami that lost earlier this season at Michigan by the score of 34-10.
Draw your own transitive conclusions.

I see a Nebraska or Wisconsin picking him up when they get fed up with Pelini and GA. Or I totally see him going out to a Cal or Oregon State and killing it in the Pac12
November 5th, 2014 at 4:39 PM ^
I don't care for the "row the boat" shtick, which he takes to absurd extremes. But the guy can coach and he can really recruit. Very sincere, very passionate and makes a great impression on kids. There was plenty of grumbling around here last year, and it has all stopped, largely because he wasn't afraid to pull some weeds and change the mentality. I don't think he's ready for the Michigans of the world quite yet, but if the new AD gives him the chance to interview, he'd give them something to think about.
November 5th, 2014 at 4:43 PM ^
That being said, I think he needs to show sustained improvement for a few years before he's a realistic candidate for a job at a larger university.
One thing that I really like about this year's WMU team is that they seem to have gotten better each week. Also, you have to love the development of true freshman RB Jarvion Franklin.
