Butt Hurt

Reading that Harbuagh thinks it's an MCL or ACL. Hoping for the best.

God I hope neither of these are true. FFS.

From the shot of the hit, it looked like an MCL injury to me
December 31st, 2016 at 12:41 AM ^
it would be odd to have a significant mcl injury w/o an acl injury.

In high school after partially tearing my ACL getting my leg rolled on, I completely tore my ACL running on a flat, straight track 8 months later while wearing the knee braces lineman wear to prevent tearing ACLs. Knee gave out, but was then able to walk to my car and drive home.
Learned to never judge injuries on how guys react afterwards.

Who could blame them though after this happens? Didn't probably even need him with skillet hands available

Loved this kid!

He deserves better

Hated seeing him go down. Him and Peppers are both vocal leaders that add more than just their athletic ability to the team.

I feel so bad for Jake. He gave his all for Michigan. Really hope it's not serious, but if it is, here's to a speedy recovery.
December 31st, 2016 at 12:42 AM ^
how serious is an MCL injury?

It looked like he was jogging off the field with a thumbs up. I hope that's a good sign more than him just trying to make the fans feel better.

Hoping for the best..

Hoping for the best as well - but it's not uncommon for players with ligament injuries to walk off to the sideline - though most who do so usually are moving much more gingerly. I'm assuming the severity of the injury somehow relates to the ability to walk off (or jog), but have no personal experience to confirm.
For what it's worth - an OL friend tore his ACL on one of the first plays of his team's drive, and stayed in for the remainder of said drive. They scored - but he said he was pretty useless, not being able to move laterally.

MCL or ACL? Really? He walked off the field on his own, though. I know absolutely nothing about medicine but I thought ligament tears didn't really allow for that?

and was able to run forward, but no lateral movement. Strengthened my hammy and played my senior year at rb without the surgery / ACL. Real old school shit and don't recommend.

It certainly appeared the one FSU defender went low and straight for the knee on that tackle. What a horrible way for a great player to end his collegiate career.

Thats the same shit that got Grant Newsome, everytime a small guy takes on a big guy that's what happens, it sucks cause he went for extra yards like a damn warrior instead of just falling down.

If you are right about that, it would at least give him some relief. He's been "true blue"since committing to Michigan, especially growing up in Ohio. Good luck Jake !

The insurance provides only the worst case scenario for the player so Butt won't see a cent from it.

Probably if he falls completely out of the draft or does not get any contract at all because of a career ending injury. Safety net.
December 31st, 2016 at 1:21 AM ^
To me it sounded like two seperate policies based on the headline - 4M for disability (assuming he never plays? not sure) and the 2M in case he gets drafted later (based on initial contract value?)
December 31st, 2016 at 2:24 AM ^
and whole shit load of red tape
Most likely Jake had the $4M injury policy even before his JR. year though probably not at that value, and he and his family went for the draft policy after deciding to come back.
The draft round thing is an odd stipulation, one I've only heard of a few times.
December 31st, 2016 at 2:18 PM ^
I recall a few years ago hearing that these insurance companies have come up with some nonsense reasons to refuse to pay. For example:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/12429789/marqise-lee-jacksonville-ja…
That said, this would be a particularly straightforward situation if he needs surgery. The injury would be in the last game of his career and not long before the draft.
Hoping for the best for him, what a shame for this to happen...

Just set up a gofundme account. Every MGoBlogger throw in $20. $20 x 50,000 = $1MM. The Michigan Difference. Our fanbase has more cash than anyone else.
