Burke named MOP; Burke, Stauskas & McGary on all-regional team
Trey Burke was named the most oustanding player of the NCAA South Regional. Also he was named to the all All-Region team with Mitch McGary and Nick Stauskas.
Amazing. Dream.
Also check out this final four shirt. It has both vacated years on it....
Will be picking this up as soon as possible. Go Blue and beat 'Cuse.
I get why they would name Burke the MOP, but I really think that McGary deserves it. Burke showed up when he was needed, but McGary was consistent throughout the entire tournament. If everyone on the team plays like McGary in the Kansas game, we probably dont need a comeback. Burke didnt really show up to the tournament until the last 3 minutes of that game.
4 teams (2 games) in the regional.
It was because of the clutch last minute shooting against Kansas. But I agree. Without McGary, we wouldn't have won against Kansas, and hell, it would have been tight against SDSU and VCU. We've always had Burke. But the difference between the end of the B1G season and now is McGary.
I agree that McGary should have been the regions MOP, but Burke has been the heart and soul of this team all year so I don't mind him taking this honor. Also, that is an awesome shirt. I am still debating on whether I want to get that shirt or the shirt the players were wearing after the game. Hell, I might just get both.
Between the Final Four/Regional Champions gear, the Glen Rice jersey, the blue Cazzie Russell jersey and a swimming & diving national championship t-shirt, MDen is gonna make me go bankrupt.
I have no self control. The first step is admitting you have a problem.
Why control yourself? It's the University of Michigan, fergodsakes.
Yeah next-day air to San Francisco was almost as much as the shirts, but worth every penny.
Who were the other two? I heard the PA announcer say McLemore during the net ceremony, but didn't hear the 5th.
Mike Rosario from Florida.
for two points- play Spike should be on it, that was stupid sub sandwiches...
Mitch was a total badass, but mostly b/c Burke was feeding him. Not to mention that whole last three minutes thing was fucking amazing.

Those kids in Africa must think Florida is a dynasty right now. 3 straight final fours.
But most Africans realize the greatest dynasty in American sports was the Buffalo Bills with 4 straight Super Bowl wins.
I love that 1992 and '93 are on there. Let the rival fans complain. You can't erase my memory of those seasons.
He needs to be on this list.
But it's a very close call with Trey. Cannot go wrong either way.
I think that one of the reasons that Burke might be the right choice here, even though McGary has some amazing numbers all to his own, is that Burke was doing the one thing that point guards do when the shooting wasn't there - facilitating things with assists and being something of a conduit through which the offense flowed. That, and as others have touched on, one clutch performance in a comeback that we'll undoubtedly discuss for a long time, and rightly so.
Congratulations to Trey on another honor in what has been an amazing season for him and this team.
No question in my mind it's Burke. First, there's the shot. Second there's the fact that he's the center of every opponent's defensive scheme and yet the offense Burke led got the better of allegedly two great defenses.
Beat Syracuse next week and Michigan will have played in the finals every decade since the Sixties (again, other than the unfortunate 2000-2009 gap in the "streak"). That's the kind of consistency that made Michigan one of the top basketball programs in the country....up until the mercifully ended drought that made people forget how great this program has been over an astonshingly extended period. The only team that's done it very single decade over that stretch is Duke. The list of teams that have done it 5 of the last 6 decades is damn short. Kentucky. UCLA. Kansas. North Carolina. One more win and add Michigan to that list.
Mitch will be MOP for the next three years.
