the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

*Referees in the N.C.A.A. tournament get $850 per game, plus hotel and travel expenses, and a per diem. This is quoted text from http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/the-life-of-a-referee/ . It is a little dated (2009) but comes from an interview with the director of officiating for the NCAA at that time. |

I agree, we shouldn't take anything away from Louisville, they played a hell of a game and may still have beaten us without some of the blown calls. I would like to see the final 4 minutes of the game over again with 3 glaring blown calls reversed. completely different game down the stretch with just these three calls done correctly... |

I would agree 100%, if they were to come out and advertise a "reunion", then I would agree that it would be taking away from the team...but to simply show up together, unannounced? It's a stretch. |

| 5 weeks 6 days ago | Maybe it is just me, but I |
Maybe it is just me, but I don't see the talking heads giving more attention than they already are. I have seen tv time with 3/5 of the fab five. Juwan is playing/practicing, and Chris has been silent for years, but I don't see that increasing just because they are at the game. People are going to talk about the fab 5, simply because Michigan is in the Finals. I don't see how them skipping the game is going to change that. If they do attend the game, does anyone really believe that there will be more than 2-3 minutes of pre-game devoted to talking about them? They might get shown once or twice during the game, but so do Tim Hardaway and Glenn Robinson. I guess, the impression I get is that people are worried that there will be a 30 minute fab-5 reunion show on during the pre-game, and I think that is far from the case. I would put the over/under at 2 minutes of total screen time for fab-5 members, if they do show up. |
| 5 weeks 6 days ago | So you don't want to see guys |
So you don't want to see guys like Zach Novak, Charles Woodson, Terry Mills, Glen Rice at the game either? It isn't about them, why should they be there to cheer on their school? Can you give a single example of any of the fab 5 members making this about them? From everything that I have seen, they have consistently said that this team should stand alone, and accomplish things that they didn't. |

The steal alone would have been GREAT, especially when you consider the circumstances, but the WAY that he finished the bucket. I'd expect a finish like that from Trey or Glenn, but not the short little white guy on the team! |

| 5 weeks 6 days ago | Why are we worried about what |
Why are we worried about what Sparty thinks? Growing up, does big brother care what little brother thinks of them? Hell no! It is always little brother hoping he looks "cool" in front of big brother. If you have Sparty friends, you should definitely give them a little "friendly" banter about Michigan in the Finals, but honestly, I couldn't care less about what Sparty thinks or who they root for tomorrow. We are not the little brother in this relationship, this is Michigan fergodsakes, let's start acting like it! |

an argument could be made either way. I don't think anyone could watch it at full speed and say for a fact what the correct call was. whatever the ref called is the correct call because it is a judgement call. |

| 6 weeks 7 hours ago | Clearly I don't know how to |
Clearly I don't know how to find old posts. I tried clicking on the page numbers at the bottom of the page and I tried clicking "next" and it doesn't bring up the next page of board topics. I wanted to post this in the thread about the Adidas shirts, but can't. Whoever was upset with Adidas making these got their wish, but the way it went down is completely asinine. I had been in favor of the players lawsuit against the NCAA (O'banon) but not sure now, if they are going to pull crap like this through the lawsuit. The reasoning behind it is completely rediculous, since Adidas was going to donate any profits to the Louisville scholarship fund. |

| 6 weeks 6 days ago | The one handed alley oop was |
The one handed alley oop was the most exciting/demoralizing play, but the McGary drive followed by the Spike steal and layup were the dagger after Florida was trying to claw back in. IIRC they had it down to 14 at that point and those two buckets got it back to 18. |

There was a long stretch when we had Burke, Spike, Tim, Stauskas, and a big. I agree that we should have taken Tim out during that time and inserted Glenn. |

| 6 weeks 6 days ago | "only 11 points" Isn't it |
"only 11 points" Isn't it great when a guy scores 4 above his season average, and it is a "poor" day scoring? I like the 9 boards and 5 steals! He would have had the double double if it were a closer game, but Morgan and Horford played more because we didn't need to play McGary 34 minutes in this one. |

| 7 weeks 9 hours ago | I don't think you can clump |
I don't think you can clump everyone that roots for Duke into that category. Obviously there are a lot of people who root for teams (Yankees, Cowboys back in the day, 49ers when I was a kid, Red Wings, Bulls in the 90's, etc), because it is easier on the heart to root for teams that win. Fans who want someone to root for, but don't want to go through the grieving process year after year. You can't claim that everyone who cheers falls into that category. I tend to root for Duke more than others because of Coach K. Of all the reports that I have ever read, he seems to be pretty upright in his coaching responsibilities, and his work with the V Foundation earns him a little more of my respect. I will root for Duke all day long against coaches like Pitino or Calipari, guys that I just don't like. This doesn't mean that I root for Duke every year (I was rooting for Butler to beat them a few years ago). What I am trying to say, is making such a sweeping generalization really minimizes some of the legitimate reasons a person might root for them. Just because you don't like Duke, doesn't mean others don't have their reasons. (neg away) |
| 7 weeks 9 hours ago | One thing that can't be |
One thing that can't be undervalued... "Hardaway: “We definitely didn’t see fear. Everybody knew that the game wasn’t over. We’ve been in this situation before, earlier in the year. We just had to go out there and gut it out. And I think our freshmen, our upperclassmen did a great job of keeping everybody calm, cool and collected.” Mainly "We've been in this situation before, earlier in the year." As much as the losses to IU and OSU hurt, being down, and learning how to come back in those situations served us well. Without the experience of knowing that they have that ability, we may not have seen what we saw last night. |
| 7 weeks 3 days ago | Simple...I picked Duke and I |
Simple...I picked Duke and I have a chance to win my pool, so I will root for Duke! I won't be disappointed to see 4 B1G teams in the Final 4 though, if we were so fortunate. |
| 7 weeks 3 days ago | I don't think the two can be |
I don't think the two can be totally seperated...I think this would be the order that the NBA drafted guys HIGH - potential AND production Medium - potential but little production low - production but little potential Hello Europe - little production AND little potential I would say last year Trey fell in between High and Medium, but this year has put himself firmly in the High group. GRIII is firmly in the Medium group right now, but would surely move himself up to the high group next year. |
| 7 weeks 6 days ago | It is EXTREMELY difficult for |
It is EXTREMELY difficult for a good team to beat another good team 3 times in the same season. IF we make it to the Final 4, we are going to be playing a pretty darn good team no matter what. I'd think playing with a chip on our shoulder would be ok, especially when the game does not have B1G refs. |
