the hart or edwards debate for best is too hard to resolve, they were both the best. i was very disappointed that shazor did not come back for his 5th and final year.

Best: Mike Hart One of my favorite UofM players ever Biggest disappointment: Antonio Bass I was so excited to see this kid in the Maize and Blue coming out of Jackson. But as we all know injuries destroyed his football career before it could ever get started. More disappointed in the fact we never got to see what the kid could do seeing as he was highly rated in HS

Orr was a starter for the Houston Texans for a while. Shazor disappeared from the Cardinals on an injury settlement. Don't think he got much of a chance to play. My biggest disappointment about Henson was he was the reason Brady's draft status was so low. Why should NFL coaches have any confidence in a QB whose college coaches have so little faith in him that they constantly insert some freshman? Poor Brady. Wonder what ever happened to him.

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I was a freshman so I didn't know the difference... Or I'm so old now I can't remember what I was. Or what he was. But we know it was all Steinbrenner's fault anyway. The Pats have him to thank.

Best: Hart When I look back on this past decade, Hart will be the first player that comes to my mind, plain and simple. He meant everything to the four teams on which he played. Biggest disappointment: Mike Kolodziej He was heralded recruit with a ton of big offers, but never really lived up to his potential. I saw him play a few times in high school and he was a man among boys. I thought he was destined for big things, and it's unfortunate that it didn't quite turn out that way. EDIT: I know that Kolodziej's career was cut short by a health issue. However, it only prevented him from playing his senior year IIRC, and at that point, he was still just challenging for a starting spot.

He was such a beast. At times it felt like they called his name on every tackle. I must say though, it is less of a grind to pursue something that I love than to do something I am not passionate about. Then again, if/when I get to the point when my mortgage payment and college tuition for my kids depend on playing well I might say something different! Anyway, thank you - I really appreciate the well wishes.

I have to go with Jake, since Hart gained most of his yards running left. Braylon gave us some huge moments too. Disappointments - every other OL except Baas. The Henson defection was crushing.

I don't want to say these guys were an outright disappointment, just thought they would have a bigger impact at Michigan. Grady : never had the expected impact in the running game Slocum : academics Crable : Appy St. good player but didnt live up to hype Brown : injuries, thought he would have bigger impact given skill set Minor : could have been considered a great college back. unhealthy every year @ Michigan. Henson: football > baseball Woods : could have thrived if consistent Butler : didnt have it between the ears but had a ton of physical talent Shazor : stay, and destroy McGuffie : wish he never transferred Mallett : M would have won more games and possibly kept Mario and Arrington in 08 Bass : injury. could you imagine WR's Bass, Manningham, Arrington, and Breaston in 2006? unreal.

Yay Tony Boles

Mike Hart no doubt. He almost made me forget about Tony Boles... Biggest Disappointment is probably Carlos Brown. He was always on the cusp of being great, but never got beyond passable.

That's B.M.E. And it looks like everyone else has that same bias. So, personally: 1. Jake Long 2. David Harris 3. Brandon Graham But I suspect guys like Perry, Baas, Hutchinson, Backus, Goodwin, Anthony Thomas, etc. are a little underrepresented here.

I was on campus for most of that time. Hutch was phenominal - maybe even more dominant than Long (though they played different positions). Baas was up there, too. Backus and Goodwin weren't quite at that level. Perry and Thomas are a little tricky to evaluate because they were merely good, not great, until their senior seasons. The 2003 Perry was our best back of the decade, but he wasn't nearly as good in 2001 or 2002. (He did have injury issues for part of that time.)

Best: Jake Long - aside from being dominant he was also a model of consistency and durability over his career. Most Disappointing: Jim Presley - ranked the #2 OLB in the nation and ahead of names you may have heard of like Jon Beason and Paul Poluszny.

1a- Long 1b- Edwards 1c- Hart Biggest disappointment: 1- Kevin Grady 2- Marquees Slocum 3- Carlos Brown EDIT: Phony Clemons should actually be #1. Disappointed in him as a football player, and a person.

Best: Jake Long Not as flashy as Braylon. Not as vocal or stat-crazy as Mike Hart. Just doing his job better than EVERYONE else. Worst: I'm ok with any player that for what ever reason tries, yet doesn't live up to their potential/hype. I'm not ok with anyone that quits, so fill in the blank for anyone that bailed.

Best: really tough to say. Either Edwards or Graham. I give both of them the nod over Hart because of the tremendous upsides that they had once they reached their full potential. Biggest disappointment: Gotta be Kelly Baraka. Remember, this kid was the #1 RB recruit in 2001. We could have really used him in 2001. Askew and Perry weren't that impressive that year.
