That game was in 1994. IIRC, it was the same day the lions lost a playoff game to the packers.  We won a thriller, the kind of game where I was walking off the field with our left tackle looking around at the crowd exclaiming “wasn’t that the coolest thing? “.

And man, the after game party was wild. I refrained but oh my gracious

I grew up listening to my dad tell me how great Jim Brown was here in metro Detroit. So big, so strong, and so fast. A foreshadowing of today’s backs.

Before Barry, Gale, Earl,Eric, Marcus and Tony…there was number 32, Jimmy Brown.

Rest in Peace, Legend.

It's hard to cheer for a guy who built a second career for himself battering, choking, and (allegedly) raping women.  Dude threw his 22-year old girlfriend from a second floor balcony, which he told police she "fell from."

Yeah. Great football player.

Absolute POS human being and I'm glad he's gone.

It's a sad day for me.  When you're a kid and the NFL on TV every weekend is a novel entertainment that you can share with your dad, the images of Jim Brown just hammering defenses leaves a mark on you.  He was, to me, the greatest player to ever play the game (with the possible exception of Tom Brady).  Highest yards per game average and (maybe it's been broken) yards per carry.  After getting tackled, he'd get up and labor his way back to the huddle like he was all beat up, but when the ball was snapped, he was a monster.

He was, quite possibly, greatest College Lacrosse player in the history at Syracuse, too.

None of this justifies his treatment of women, though.  Another reason to feel sad today.
