TomVH: Andre Yruretagoyena's Reaction
I spoke with Andre Yruretagoyena today about the USC sanctions. USC is one of his top schools, along with Michigan, and Oregon. With the news coming out about the two year bowl ban, and loss of scholarships, we're probably going to see a reaction from most kids considering USC.
The same goes for Andre. I asked him what his reaction was, and he said, "I want to say it doesn't affect me, but it does. It's two years, which would end after my first year, so I would be there for it. I don't know if there's anything more, but if the NCAA finds more, then who knows what else they'll do. You never know with the NCAA."
While this isn't a complete step back away from their program, it will definitely have an effect on how recruits see their future. In this case, it could potentially be a big blow. The Chaparral head coach is very smart when it comes to this stuff, and usually does a good job with his players recruitment. I can't imagine they're not at least discussing this.
The potential transfers from USC's juniors and seniors could have a big effect on all this, as well. If some of their bigger name players decide to leave, you can be sure that recruits will notice.
Recruits should also remember that Kiffin hasn't proven he can be a good head coach at any level yet, as well.
I love how the USC sanctions meltdown is directing attention away from the manufactured scandals of DFP et. al.
Can any of their recruits signed in 2010 still be relased from their LOI and sign elsewhere as long as they haven't enrolled in class?
An appeal would have to be made to the NCAA. Or, USC would have to grant a release from their LOI. It's a possibility.
I'm pretty sure only Juniors and Seniors can leave.
Kiffin could always be nice and grant releases, but that'd never happen. Not with that dirtbag.
I do think it's funny that Seantrel Henderson dragged out his recruitment only to sign on with USC, believing Kiffin's assertion that USC wouldn't get penalized.
Schadenfreude. It's what's for dinner!
Let's pray that Seantrel Henderson doesn't bolt to Ohio State....
I think we're safe.
hey Seantrel (or Seantrel's dad) We have D12 and the Insane Clown Posse!!!!!!
That is supposed to help?
Hey, the wicked clowns have some good songs......of course then I see a line of their fans standing outside a venue and I regret every word of that statement, still, they have a few good ones.
Landing Seantrel would be some fucking miracles.
like a rainbow or a giraffe, yo!
how do THEY work?
With his dad spitting hot fire on the West coast with Snoop D-O-Double G, I think we're safe.
DYLAN DYLAN DYLAN DYLAN DYLAN!!!!! I SPIT HOT FIRE
What about the lyrical genius that is David Cone?
FEBREZE!
EXACTLY my first thought at the news of all of this.
C'mon down to Ann Arbor Andre!
Except during the Hash Bash.
Thanks Tom VH! The minute I heard about these sanctions, I wondered about Andre Y. Hence, a few hours pass and you've already talked to him. Well I'll be danged.
"I don't know if there's anything more, but if the NCAA finds more, then who knows what else they'll do. You never know with the NCAA."
Keep in mind this applies to Michigan, too.
They won't be finding any more.
Unless Snoop is a booster and they look into Seantrel's recruitment.... You never know.
completely different type of infractions...our case is finished...there will be nothing more
Your opinions =/= facts and self-imposed sanctions =/= NCAA sanctions, but I'm splitting firm supple butt hairs here. As long as the "NCAA ONLY PUNISHES MICHIGAN SUPERIOR ACADEMICS/STANDARDS LOOK AT USC HURRRRRR" meme dies.
I don't know if what you wrote is true or not. But for Pete's sake, let us enjoy this one! We don't need a reminder that Michigan is not out of the woods. We know already. Jeez. USC just got whooped, Saban is interviewing for the Cleveland job, let me enjoy it for the day.
I'll eat my sorts. I honestly think Izzo is the front runner.
I live in Lousiana, And down here Saban is the "devil", and the guy people would like to see leave. Got my wires crossed.
Let's hope the team's performance on the field this year makes it an easy decision for Andre Y. Man, our line is going to be downright nasty in a couple of years. Lewan, Washington, Omameh, Barnum, etc. Add Zettel, Andre Y and Ryan Kelly (cross your fingers) to the mix and it's hard not to be excited about the future of the offense.
#7 center in the country for Rivals, #11 for Scout, #13 guard for ESPN
Don't care if they call him a 3 star, he's one of the best at that position out of high school
Oh for sure. Can't believe I forgot to mention him. We haven't had a truly dominant line in a while. That's going to change as soon as this season.
to finally be back on the positive side of the NCAA scaring recruits from certain schools.
yes, now our admissions department is doing the scaring.
Have some faith in those who hold the keys in Ann Arbor.
I smell blood in the water. Better go get them!
the LA press realize that a good portion of their readers are USC supporters so they probably aren't ignorant enough to kick the program when it's down......
Tom,
Being more of an insider, and closer to USC than we are.....doing you get any feeling about these Juniors and Seniors possibly bolting? Not wanting specific names but do you get a feeling, either gut or rumor, that this could really happen. Its a very interesting scenario from both the kids that could leave to the schools that would take them.
Thanks for all you work.
ROJO to U of M!
KEEP HOPE ALIVE!
And someone get Jai Eugene on the horn. Just 'cause.
Do you know of any juniors or seniors that were U of M leans back in the day?
only one i can think of is nick perry. there was also kyle prater, but he is a rising soph, i believe.
*incoming freshman
crossin my fingers for dillon baxter to realize USC sucks
Good call
Only the juniors and seniors can transfer without having to sit out a year. All others would have to sit out a year unless granted otherwise by the NCAA or released by the university. He is already enrolled so he would have to be released, which is highly unlikely , or appeal to the NCAA.
