The Best of MGoBlog - A Love-Fest
In the spirit of negating the inherent negativity of the "Worst MGoBlog Trend" post, I'm interested in reading what people think are the best MGoBlog trends, tendencies, posters, and memes. These are a few of my favorite things:
1. Anything Lloyd Brady (mentions, photoshops, etc.)
2. Posbang and Negbang Threads
3. Spelling/Grammar Nazis (the criticism can only help the poster)
4. His Dudeness (only love is going to heal him)
5. Negging Brian and TomVH (keeps them grounded)
6. Double-posts
7. "Posted from iPhone" titles

Lloyd Brady for sure but number 5 sounds interesting...time to go visit the thread below...

Intelligent diaries, informative threads, logical comments, etc. They're becoming fewer and further in between but they're still here.

Mrs Krass' opinion of pictures on Mgoblog.

Before it eventually crossed a line (or two), that was easily the second best thread (after the Lloyd photoshop thread) I've seen since I've been posting here. The legacy of NSFH will never get less funny to me.
February 17th, 2011 at 12:44 PM ^
I'm so proud to be the poster of the pic that started that thread. I'm hoping that one piece of work will be enough for the MGoHallOfFame.
February 17th, 2011 at 12:52 PM ^
What was his thread called? I thought it was NSFH but when I search that it flags too many comments for me to get to the OP.
February 17th, 2011 at 12:59 PM ^
I believe the thread title actually included the phrase "NSFW or home," not NSFH. But after things got way out of hand (at some point it took a very nasty turn), the mods deleted all comments and just left the OP.
February 17th, 2011 at 1:01 PM ^
It eventually reached the point where someone actually posted something that actually had nudity. That pretty much put it over the edge.
February 17th, 2011 at 1:03 PM ^
Correct on both accounts. Some of the stuff got really mean, but the OP was pretty funny.
February 17th, 2011 at 1:34 PM ^
yeah, we need a special archives, similar to the "best of" on craigslist.
February 17th, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
I have to admit, it was fascinating watching things blow up that night. I will always think twice, and maybe three times, before I post something again. Having said that, posts here have definitely avoided the over the line pics and jiggly bits since that time.

The immediate flow of information has made visiting other Michigan sports sites unnecessary.
Quality and convenience all in one place.
February 17th, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
This site has made visiting numerous other types of sites unnecessary as well, including news sites!

post is always good.

addicted to mgoblog. It's like watching the Three Stooges, if you have to explain it to someone . . .

Through sheer force of will this blog (Brian in particular) has made me love Michigan hockey even though I've watched approximately a handful of games this year.
That's something I'll appreciate because I really like hockey (Blackhawks, sorry I'm from Chicago), and college hockey seems extremely cool.

I like avatars depicting Woodson's one-handed interception against Sparty, probably the single greatest catch I've ever witnessed in person.
February 17th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
I've watched the youtube clip 100 times at least. The best interception I've ever seen.

The posbang circle jerks that are currently "shooting blanks."
Good thing I like whose line, because almost everything here is made up, and the points don't matter!
February 17th, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
Whose Line was/is a great show. Wayne Brady might just be untouchable among improv talents
February 17th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
Is that thing in your avatar ever going to pupate?
February 17th, 2011 at 1:16 PM ^
No. Tim Doyle would come out of nowhere to heckle me 100% of the time.

Anything detrimental about Greg Robinson.

Bar-none the best website for a 20 year old Michigan fan. (YES, better than porn and online gambling)
Also, all the sarcasm and .gifs.. haha, good times.

I love that I have MGoEnemies that neg all of my posts/threads. In a strange way, it somehow means I'm a fully-functioning member of the MGoCommunity.

I got love for you. But in post-Malware apocalypse...I downvote you on occasion just because I know it will get a reaction out of you.
February 17th, 2011 at 1:07 PM ^
No offense taken whatsoever. I find myself doing the same thing to others, just for fun.
February 17th, 2011 at 12:56 PM ^
TomVH post below this post is why I'm here. All the info that other teams/schools do not have, we have MgoBlog. I don't venture out to other teams site except mabe 11 Warriors (Keep your enemies close) but I don't see a site that can hold this ones jock.

or, more specifically the description of tacopants in the FAQ section:
Tacopants is Jason Avant's eleven-foot tall imaginary friend. Chad Henne spent much of 2005 hitting him between the numbers, which are unfortunately eight feet off the ground and made of dreams. Blessed with infinite eligibility and the ability to sneak on and off the field without alerting the referees -- made of dreams, remember -- Tacopants has taken a lesser role in the offense as Henne matures but still pops up at inopportune times. The term has its genesis in this post.

that despite some turbulence in the past few years, there is a pervasive if sporadic desire to emphasize the positive. The good writing on the front page, the respectful disagreements on the board, and the insightful research in many diaries are great too; in any discussion with non MGO fans, we stand enlightened, informed, (and better) because of the time we spend here.

Love the convention of prefacing any worthy noun with "MGo" (e.g. "MGoEnemies" above).
February 17th, 2011 at 1:10 PM ^
Insiders who post.
Like recently we were talking about Alabama grayshirting a kid, and that kid's high school coach comes on here and writes back and forth. Or someone asks what happened to Isaiah Bell and a former M assistant comes on and gives a candid response. Or we're talking about a high school Quarterback from Buffocking Nowheresville, Ohio, and three people who've seen the kid play for years get on and know about his personality traits and pitfalls.
When this blog was just some snarky guy about my age trying to channel DFW while trying to fill a gargantuan hole for good Michigan football analysis, it was still cool and all. But I get such a kick out of the huge web that now pulls in information sources from all over the country.
On top of that, I love when we get a new diarist who's really trying to make a name and puts together something like this week's presumptive Diarist of the Week I get a real kick -- mostly because I am, at my core, an insatiable information sponge -- and there's more good information contributed by the readers here than I got in a lifetime of scouring ESPN.com and my local paper.

I just wanted to voice my support for Canning a Coordinator- Revisited as diary of the week. You know this, obviously, but it was fantastic.

I'm generally a fan of in the morning reading the drunken threads that end with "I was drunk... sorry guys... I'll email you from Bolivia"
In moderation, mind you.

I like the intelligent comments sprinkled with some sarcasm. A lot of people have been getting away with stupid shit since the neg bomb disappeared.
