the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

| 25 weeks 4 days ago | Future playoff implications |
I think the big push towards 4 super conferences of 16 teams each is that it allows for the expansion of the playoff while still calling it a 4 team playoff. If the 4 super conference champs are automatic bids, then really it's an 8 team playoff as all conf. championship game participants have a chance. And if divisional championship games are implemented to determine the champs of the 8 team divisions, then it's a 16 team playoff. But since the rounds of 16 and 8 will be interconference, it can still be claimed by whomever as being a 4 team national playoff. At least, this is where I see the future of college football. |

I read the title as "Unverified Voracity Brings Back Dumb Pants." I was halfway through the thing before I realized there were no Michigan Zubaz pants. And, yes, I owned a pair in junior high.

I would love to go back to the days of UM playing better non-cons. I can remember days of playing ND and sometimes 2 other teams from big conferences. Seeing ND and 3 body bag games gets kind of boring. The only thing that sucks is when you sign a deal with a team so far out in the future, and then 8 years later when the game actually rolls around they stink. I guess you could stick to playing only truly elite programs, something Ohio has actually done pretty well when you consider their home and homes with USC, Texas, Miami (YTM), and Virginia Tech and Oklahoma in future years. However, we are all too familiar that even that can go wrong (see Mich 2008-2010, Oklahoma 1994-1999, Texas in 2010, Ohio last year, et al.) |
| 43 weeks 2 days ago | End of the Sugar bowl |
Obviously all of the runs and touchdowns and such are fantastic, but I think my favorite part of that video is Denard running around with such pure unadulterated joy after the Sugar Bowl win. Not only is he an incredible player, the likes of which we may never see again in a winged helmet, but his joy and love for football, his university, and his teammates is what makes me proud that he plays for Michigan. |
| 45 weeks 1 day ago | Nashville can't trade Weber |
Under the current CBA, if a team signs one of their own RFAs, they can't trade him the following year. That's what makes this such a dilemma for Nashville. If a team like Detroit could get him to agree to a 1 year offer sheet, Nashville could match, but he still would become a UFA at the end of next season. Therefore, they would again be stuck with a guy who could leave in the offseason but they couldn't deal him. However, they really can't let him leave seeing as they already lost a top 2 D-man. They would get picks in return, but that wouldn't help now. I would love to see Detroit sign him to an offer sheet and force Nashville's hand |

Add one more to the count of folks headed to the game tonight. Even though its kind of a chain, the Boston's Pizza on Nationwide across the street from the rink runs good game day specials. I think its $2 domestics and $1 slices of pizza, something like that. And echoing others, R Bar is a hockey bar; its a great place to go after the game as they will have other games on about 10 TV's. Another bar that I have been known to frequent is Novak's on High. Its right behind the North Market parking lot, about 2 blocks from the rink. Just a good dive bar. Enjoy yourself, and Go Wings!! |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | Mmmm...Myles... |
As a BG alum I realize I may be a bit biased, but you must try Myles Pizza. I bring one home with me anytime I get back up in that area. They are loaded with toppings, and if you choose to go gallavanting around town after the game, they are open late. I cannot stress enough how perfect Myles is after a full night of adult beverages. If you choose the Polleye's route, get the stuffed breadsticks. Dough is made fresh and they are made to order. This concludes your tour of my way too unhealthy BG food joints. Enjoy!! |

Red Wings - Avalance was close to the best in all of sports for a stretch in the mid- to late-Nineties. After the March 26, 1996 game and Detroit beating them in that season's playoffs, their regular season games were events not to be missed. The rivalry petered out rather quickly, but was huge not only in the hockey world but was front page material in its heyday. |
| 1 year 26 weeks ago | Naming said analysis |
What about "A Beilein to the Truth" - you know, as it would presumably take one directly to what transpired during the game. Like a beeline. It's a pun. Not sure if there are issues with using a coach's name or not. Plus its easily abbreviated as BTTT. |

There is a Michigan Fans of Columbus that watches games at Skybox Sports Bar near Polaris. I've never gone but I get their messages on Facebook all the time: Skybox Sports Bar 1311 Cameron Ave, Lewis Center, OH 43035 |

I have found the same thing - that friends and acquaintances that are OSU alums are pretty salty, and are glad they canned Tressel. Most are also to the point that they don't understand how players continue to be stupid enough to do shady things, and are wondering who (if anybody) is minding the store. I have quite a few tell me that they are already resigned to the fact that they will be taking a backseat to Michigan this upcoming decade. On the other hand, its the uneducated ding dongs who continue to say that it happens everywhere, and that Tressel was a great man, and that Mike Vrabel will be that best DC EVAR. It's those folks that make me throw up in my mouth a little bit after about 16 seconds of listening to them. |

My brother played in this outing with Stokes and Hemingway. He said he had a great time. Unfortunately I had a commitment I couldn't break, but I'm glad he got a chance to play and show support for U of M and the Mealers. |

Best part about it was he essentially caused the loss, as once Sorgi was out the D was selling out to stop the run, opening up the bomb thrown by the backup for the winning score. |
| 2 years 6 days ago | Gnetleman's Agreement |
There was supposedly a gentleman's agreement when the NHL realigned and Toronto moved to the East that should another team be moved from the East to the West that it would be Detroit. The Wings would LEAP at the chance to get to the East, purely for the travel issues. Not to mention, with a veteran (older) team (which might not always be the case), the West Coast travel is a killer. Eliminating this would be an enormous help to them in deep playoff runs. |

TO was a gut punch but Webber travelled when he took the inbounds pass too. Not that there's anything wrong with that... |

What has never made sense to me is that a school can pay for a player's meals, even give him $ to spend when a recruit is in town, but a coach having a guy over for dinner is an issue. How is that an extra benefit? |

Its not entirely uncommon to see co-ordinators leave one school to take an HC job, then return to their former school as HC |

That episode has three of my favorite quotes, all courtesy of Homer J: When he is asked if he is wearing a paper bag for pants - "I have misplaced...my pants" Sitting at home alone on the couch - "Bart? Where are you? Your dinner's getting cold...and eaten" When Bart's job is espoused as a way to keep kids off drugs as he catches a glimps of the show - "Oh yeah, drugs...gotta have drugs" One of my all time favorite episodes |

It is harder to set up a forecheck, and WAY harder to be physical on dump-ins because there is so much more ground to cover. A game on an Olympic sheet is typically less physical overall than on an NHL sheet. |
