Would not have to sit out a year, and would be a perfect fit at QB
January 24th, 2011 at 1:16 PM ^
He really would fit into GVSU's offense pretty well. That would be awesome for GVSU, but doesn't it seem like he'd want to be closer to home if he's taking a step down to a lower division school?
January 24th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
I live about 5 miles South of the main campus. I could catch him in action.

Separately. Scout reported over the weekend T-Force 2 Huskies.

Hopefully Tate's destination is a little more classroom oriented this time around. Missed that whole STUDENT-athlete thing.
Requiring a four year degree for playing professional sports in the US would help these kids take the whole school thing a little more seriously. Whats wrong with requiring a degree for a 6+ figure job out of the gate anyway?
January 24th, 2011 at 6:46 PM ^
Thats rather paternalistic and unnecessary.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:11 PM ^
TATE FORCIER IS TRANSFERRING????
WHAT??? AND COACH RODRIGUEZ HAS BEEN FIRED???
January 24th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
Look man, any time you can announce you are leaving school via Twitter, ya gotta do it.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
i made a tweet tho other day saying i was leaving school, you wouldnt believe the publicity i got on the way home.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
I would hope he'd go someplace closer to home.

I live in Montana, and on our 10 o'clock news last week it was mentioned that Tate and his parents were visiting the University of Montana Grizzlies. I'm not sure what program Tate was in at UofM but Montana has a good law school.
January 24th, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
If he wants to practice law in Montana.
January 24th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Is this a joke? Did Tate really talk publicly about wanting to practice law? Talk about putting the cart before the horse!
January 24th, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
I think Tater's a little ways off from grad school. It sounds like he needs to finish his Sophomore year before he starts thinking about grad school.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:13 PM ^
Good relationship with Rod Smith. Would sit then would probably be a starter and I remember his dad saying they were going to a D1 program

Can't get scholarship and all...
January 24th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
Is that an actual rule? Was Boren not on scholarship at OSU these past few seasons?
January 24th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
No, he did not get an athletic scholarship. I don't know if he was eligible for any non-athletic scholarships.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
They worked it through a loophole whereby his family got a plowing contract for one student parking lot and two 7-11s.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
theres another loophole that has 7-11 sponsoring him....sadly he only gets stick on tattoos there, though.. :/
January 24th, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
Boren paid his own way the last two years...It is a Big Ten rule.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
Why stay at U of M for a decent education when you can pay for a superior education at tOSU? Oh, it's because they have better family values there! That's right, I forgot. So I'm sure that Boren had some help paying for school from Papa Tressel. That's totally legit, right? Yes, I think he definitely made the right decision.
Sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm...
January 24th, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
Well, he does have two gold pants he can sell.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
Zing!
January 24th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
Yes this is an actual rule, it applies only to fellow B1G members and won't be changing. See: http://thegazette.com/2010/05/19/wisconsins-alvarez-said-big-ten-wont-change-transfer-rule/
As to Boren, I believe I remember reading that he was not on scholarship, but I can't find anything on it at the moment.

my bet with no evidence is San Diego St. It's the future wave of transactions in college sports... " we will trade you our head coach for your second string quarterback and a ride on air pizzia" Deal! No but really its his home and I wouldn't be suprised considering the dirction hoke had that program going.

is that his destination on Friday night was Rush Street. it was kinda eerie seeing him, to be honest...
January 24th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
"Hey, you're not 21, get out." ?
January 24th, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
i thought it was totally acceptable that i called him a sinner.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:16 PM ^
If Forcier transfers within DI and has to sit a year, does that could as his redshirt? After he sits, will he have one or two years of eligibility left?
January 24th, 2011 at 1:20 PM ^
He could sit out and count it as a redshirt. He'd then have 2 more years of eligibility.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
Cool, thanks. That's what I assumed, but NCAA rules can be counter-intuitive, though.
In that case, I don't see him dropping to D-II. The kid can play at a D-I level, and probably deserves to be starting somewhere. I don't know where he'd best fit, but I'd be seriously surprised if he dropped down a division just to avoid sitting a year (especially considering he seemed to have accepted his role as back-up, so immediate PT might not be a big issue).
January 24th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
There's a lot of schools between those two levels of competition. We usually load up on those cupcakes at the beginning of the season. I think it's called FCS now. Used to be D1-AA. I believe he could play right away there.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
I think he ends up at SDSU
January 24th, 2011 at 1:19 PM ^

His momma's living room watching Two and Half Men with a cordless to his ear talking to some surf bunnies. That is until he dad tells him to get a job, then he will be a policy writer for a major insurance company.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:25 PM ^
would be a good spot for him.
January 24th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
I really hope so. I'm a former Pitt student and would love to see Forcier over there. With Magee and their lack of a QB, it's not all that crazy.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
Michigan to Stanford back to Michigan
or UCLA to Furman.
January 24th, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
Does nobody think that Tate can compete for starting time in a BCS conference? I mean, all last year people were talking about how he was the "best backup in the nation" and now his possible destinations are GVSU and SDSU?
Couldn't Tate get into the competition at most Pac schools right now? Let alone the Big East or ACC.
