That is just beautiful. Imaginary plus 1 to you!

It was all a ploy to get a raise. He wants to stay at Stanford provided he gets more dough. Then every year, he'll do a little look-see around the NFL to see what's available. Stanford needs him more than he needs Stanford. What a nice position to be in.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:10 AM ^
Then we have a chance!
January 6th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
This whole situation is fucked up.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:30 PM ^
This is such a roller coaster....i hate how much this reminds me of 2007..
January 7th, 2011 at 12:15 AM ^
Wait 'til you see how you feel in three weeks, when this is still dragging on and we've been turned down by multiple coaches.
That's how it was in 2007.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
What if he signed the contract to become Michigan's head coach in Miami tonight?!?
Muhahahahahahahaha!

If we don't get HardBallZ, then Grewden Grewden Grewden!!!!!11!!1!!one!!111

Adam Schefter: " I don't see 49ers as viable alternative at this time."
January 6th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
I get it now. Jim stays with Stanford. John goes to Michigan, we dump the ND rivalry, and create the new annual Harbaugh bowl with the battle of Jim versus John to be our opening game each season against Stanford.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:19 AM ^
If we've learned anything it is that Stanford would beat M in an Education Battle of Smartz and Other General Academia Knowledge Pertinent to JH.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:20 AM ^
i shouldve asked for this for christmas
January 6th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
So bizzare.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Okay, maybe I didn't. But I didn't say this wouldn't happen, which is basically the same thing.
Remember, you heard it here first!
I know more, but I have to wait until it all shakes out to reveal.

Not likely, but maybe Ross saw that Harbaugh being unproven in the pros was not worth the money. M's chances just went up, but so did San Fran's and Denver's...
January 6th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
So if Miami is not interested, was this a case of Stephen Ross trying to see what cards DB was playing? Was he undermining him, reporting back to other somewhat influential alums? Was he making this harder for the 49ers the whole time to either keep JH at Stanford or Michigan? Is he sort of even suggesting DB is an uncapable buffoon by "talking to Harbaugh"? Its late and my mind is now in full blown conspiracy theory mode, for better or worse. By suggesting Sparano is a better alternative to JH, Ross has definately reigned in the JH hype machine and put UM back into contention for his services by releasing that statement, kind of casts doubt on JH's coaching abilities.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:36 PM ^
He certainly is a rich and successful one.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:31 PM ^
wouldnt the worst case scenario be that he signs here at michigan and we get all excited... then andrew luck goes #1 in next year's draft and jim harbaugh leaves to go with him?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
worst case is the Mayans are right
January 7th, 2011 at 12:14 AM ^
worst case scenario is the mayans were off by one year...

Worst Case Scenario: The Y2K people were right and this is like our own personal Inception meets The Truman Show with computers as the directors and producers.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:17 AM ^
Thereafter, who needs a football team?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:31 PM ^
My head hurts. The thing is, while Luck is taking some risk by staying an extra year, Harbaugh's taking more risk if he doesn't do the NFL jump. 12-1 with an Orange Bowl victory will be hard to top next year, especially with 3 5th year seniors leaving the Offensive Line. SO if Stanford goes, say, 10-3 or 11-2, will Harbaugh be as hot a candidate? Will there by as many openings available?
Then again, maybe Stanford wins the BCS next year while the Ravens go undefeated proving the genius of all things Harbaugh, and Jim Harbaugh takes the Chargers job for $10 mil a year.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
if he wanted to be here he would be..Drop the whole "he's jsut trying to get the most money out of Michigan act". We all know he could have named his price in the 3rd quarter of the Gator bowl and Brandon wouldn't have thought twice. He'll go back to Stanford (who would want to take over the trainwreck 49ers). Michigan (or now most likely Stanford were only going to be a stepping stone until a desirable NFL job opened.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:46 PM ^
DB shouldnt even waste precious time if he gets the vibe JH won't come here. It will keep egg off his face and the university's and he can focus his time to go after someone who wants to come here. This whole JH circus could go on awhile. DB has obviously moved on, wisely.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:18 AM ^
it felt about right to me
January 6th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
I still think Harbaugh has never been offered the job at M. For whatever reason.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:08 AM ^
January 6th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
who could pick Luck with the first pick and keep them together.
also, Carolina is an NFC team, so the brothers Harbaugh wont compete head to head unless it is a Super Bowl.

Luck staying in school

sir i believe andrew luck is returning to school (unless he changes his mind)... so harbaugh is not going there...

Is on the record saying that they will look for an NFL assistant or coach with past NFL experience. Their #1 is Cowher.

"Jimmy - go back to Michigan and re-right the ship. Set it all up so that when you decide to leave for the NFL at a later date, that one of your assistants is fully set to take over the helm as HC - so Michigan never has to go through what we just went through - ever, ever again."

according to Mortenson, went onto "unrelated business" in SoCal after his meeting with the GM and Harbaugh. He then resumed meeting with Harbaugh's agent. Gee, think Ross just negotiated the deal for us?
