Lions put themselves

In these situations where they must be perfect to come back. There is no margin for error, and they usually end up with turnover to a ball hawking safety.

Defense will

try to get it back. Brees is running a passing clinic, this won't end well.

OMG..

He he he he DROPPED IT, no no oh no..

Or, "oh look,

the defenders ran into each other! Wow, was he open or what!!" lol, same old Lions. Playoffs??...Playoffs??... Insert famous rant.

I like

hearing "He's wiiiiiddddeee open, no one around him," or "he's in end zone untouched," two frequent playcalls against Lion defenses..

they are getting

worse as the season progresses. Are the other d coordinators that much better, or are injuries taking their toll? Maybe both?

Addressing needs with two

Addressing needs with two starters through the draft would be great, and if those positions were locked down for 5-7 years that would be perfect.

Lions draft going Fairley

Lions draft going Fairley well so far..

I also

Wonder why Robert Quinn fell so far and JJ Watt rose so much? And how the hell can teams be given an immediate draft grade? We should be grading the draft from 2008 or 2009 right now, not a pick made 13 seconds ago. If your pick is the best guy, but gets hurt in a moped accident, that was unfortunately not a good pick.

Differences between Mayhew and Millen??

Wow, how much better Detroit would have been with Mayhew at the helm instead of Millen. Any coach having the luxury (so far) of a talent evaluator like Mayhew has to have life easier.

It seems like these drafts go

It seems like these drafts go more or less as predicted for about the first 15-20 picks, then it turns into something different.

Lots of good DE's in this

Lots of good DE's in this draft. I bet we still see one taken at some point.

Detroit could be looking at

Detroit could be looking at Bowers in the 2nd round. Should they take him?

I like Carimi better than

I like Carimi better than Castanzo, either way you get a big tough road grader.

That is very sad. I am

That is very sad. I am thankful when I get depressed listening to the "news" , that I have my sports outlet, as well as the activities I like to do to sometimes put distance between myself and whatever the dailey downer may be.

Some people are not "hobby" or "sports" types, and I wonder if that affects their ability to cope with the constant barrage life throws at us.

OT Threads

In response to Wolverine's reponse about obscure threads, I race motocross here in Michigan (my avatar is a pic. of me landing a 85' tabletop in Midland at Polka Dots) and it is cool to see other motorsports fans talking racing. This time of year, action sports heat up and I am outside until its too cold or I get hurt riding (usually injured before cold weather). So by the fall, I'm watching Michigan football or getting my hands wet in a fishtank, or in the really odd year, still riding MX in the fall.

That said, Formula 1 racing is unbelievably cool. I am always surprised when Ferrari is bettered by a Renault or some other team that I didn't think could pull it off. I love helmet cams, or other random camera placement that shows two cars battling at speed to show how hard these guys race.

Best fight song in world

Best fight song in world starts again!!

See!!

See!!

Calm down, we will make our

Calm down, we will make our adjustments and start putting the puck on target. Once we do that, we will be fine.

Shoot, I thought it referred

Shoot, I thought it referred to fans like the crumulent pos that gave LC the bouble bird last night, or most of the denizens of Columbus or East Lansing.

I believe there's only one

I believe there's only one way for Hunny to celebrate this one. Hopefully with a National Championship ring as his present!

OCB is the land of the

OCB is the land of the hardcore trenchermen..

As much as I hate losing,

As much as I hate losing, that guy giving the fingers to a college kid who just scored to go to the national championship is beyond classless.  If I ever saw a Michigan fan do that to a kid, it would take all my reserve not to break his jaw. That boorish performance will now be passed on down through his generations.  Kids see that crap. Swell. Nice job. Well played. Hope your day gig at the cement quarry is a little better tomorrow. Idiot.

No, its a numbers game, 2 d

No, its a numbers game, 2 d and 1 wing back, will prevent odd man rushes. It does clog up the neutral zone and take away passing lanes. Red will mix it up with numbers and personnel, but he's going the anaconda route, squeezing the life and will out of ND. Doesn't always work though.

Good things happen when we

Good things happen when we shoot the puck at the net...C'mon Meeechigan make Melrose feel he knows nothing aboot hockey, send his ass back to watch from the safety of his chesterfield!

Its a hard strategy for the

Its a hard strategy for the heart, but its been effective so far. They score 1 goal, it might be hard to get going offensively again..

Since we've been plagued with

Since we've been plagued with bad announcers tonight, it made think of one of the best ever hockey announcers, that guy from Pittsburgh who used to call games in the mid 80's-90's. He was awesome to listen to when he would describe Mario scoring on one of his many historically sweet goals. Not a huge Lemieux fan, but I respect the skill set.

Some more 1-1-3 will get keep

Some more 1-1-3 will get keep a forechecker and a wall in front of Hunny the rest of the way. Then, one more quick turnover in the neutral zone could ice it for us..

If there were any justice,

If there were any justice, this is where Don Cherry would come on and say "Kids this is how you play goalie. Watch little Hunwyck show the way!"

I just want to call Valenti

I just want to call Valenti and gloat. That stupid know it all attitude grinds my gears. I can't help but think if there is such thing as kharma, I will find myself lining him up like a crochet ball in a pick up hockey game. Not sure how this ties in to the above, other than saying this feels good to watch. Game on..

Man, the fun you could have

Man, the fun you could have with his name if he was a big time hitter. "He never saw old Freighttrain Clax comin' down the tracks" and that's just his last name...

Slightly off topic, but after

Slightly off topic, but after work I turned on the radio and Rush Limbaugh was showering this Pittsburgh Steeler player with man love, turned out it was Larry Foote! For maybe 2-3 minutes Larry Foote represented football and Michigan very well, I thought.

I don't understand all the

I don't understand all the venom and anger by so many who have clearly never coached a fucking down of football. Coaching even younger kids(which I do) is an effort done in concert with those you gel and communicate with best. Communication, trust and mindset form the basis of success (not skin color). Hoke or any other coach needs to find the people he feels best with to win at this level. Peroid. If you don't get that, get your asses out there and fucking coach some football! THEN come tell us how someone at that level needs certain percentages of minorites on his staff, and he BETTER win 10 games AND compete for a national title every 3 years or else!

Clearly, RR never had that defensive coaching relationship at Michigan. Look at the results. If you live in a world where your forced into decisions, good luck. It will be very difficult to succeed that way.

I didn't mean visits, just

I didn't mean visits, just working the phone. Maddison on the phone will get a kids attention, even if he doesn't see him in person. That's why even on the IR, the DC could be a VIP in all this IMHO.

Your good in my book. Part of

Your good in my book. Part of being a true fan is sometimes being critical, wearing your heart on your sleeve. As a young kid, I cried when Michigan lost to Iowa when Harbaugh was "my" guy. I still hate to lose, and that stems from seeing years of near perfect seasons. I want to beat OSU, because losing wrecks the week for me when it happens.

Our two most unlikely 2011

Our two most unlikely 2011 guys were Countess, with all the pressure on him from so many other schools and the grabbing of Bellomy from TX. Arguements for others as more unlikely could also be made.

A "what if" but since we're

A "what if" but since we're here, let's say we get Clowney and lose out on Willingham, how would that affect UM's outlook for ranking and expectations for next season?

Would it affect overall recruiting rankings much?

If Hoke teams up with

If Hoke teams up with Maddison for some last minute recruiting heroics, anything can happen.

Good question. While there is

Good question. While there is an obvious canidate waiting for the 14th, maybe another is more vulnerable to some last minute nudging? Kouandijio has not sent his loi in yet, Jacoby Brissett is a big 6'5" QB. Long shots at best, but the only non obvious factors left.

The harsh sting of reality,

The harsh sting of reality, ouch. Obi is also one of the most likeable Wolverines, IMHO. I wish him success in his next gig.

I was wondering which back

I was wondering which back would be the best safety as well. Kind of a run blitzer would have helped against Wisky, TCU did fairly well doing that as I recall.

Couldn't agree more. This is

Couldn't agree more. This is fun to watch Sparty writhe in pain. Spartan Bob and Dantonio have fueled my inner anger toward Sparty. I respect Izzo, but watching Dantonio get hit in the face with seagull poop while losing to CMU by 21 would make me smile. A lot.

And even if they win, I wanna gloat when their down. Shameless, I know.

I agree with Poole being a

I agree with Poole being a key guy. I guess whoever contributes the most to the team's effort and represents Michigan the best are the obvious but unknown guys. It's hard to know who that might be until their here a couple years. I love recruiting, but draft day grades to me are puzzling. The results are usually seen 2-4 years later.

That said, a nice tailback, a linebacker and a safety that compete at a really high level from this group would make a nice impact. That kind of assumes the offense and defensive line play is outstanding, which is asking a lot. I can't help but think how exciting it was to watch Jake Long dominate defenses and create so many opportunities for Mike Hart and Chad Henne.

I am excited and curious at the same time to see how this plays out next fall.

That's nice to hear. It would

That's nice to hear. It would also be nice to hear Urban honestly discuss the SEC's recruiting policies. Specifically the oversigning to create an atmosphere of playing for your scholarship every year. Basically, SEC kids are one injury away from loss of scholorship.

(Not nice to hear about Maddison's injury, this weather is bad for that)

So these kids should know

So these kids should know that going in. It would be interesting to see the total failure to qualify rate of a given class of the top 150. Last year we had it with Dorsey but it hasn't been a persistent problem.

The Barnett to Arkansas had

The Barnett to Arkansas had twinges of the Colorado '94 debacle. Speaking of that, it would be really nice in near future Signing Day's to steal a 5* from Colorado and piss on their parade. Buck the Fuffaloes...

Ignore post above

I retract the above post, maybe there is a light at the end of this day.

We can talk about the storm

We can talk about the storm or Superbowl or just about anything else. As a diehard UM fan, it's hard to sit here and watch this thinking how irrelavant Michigan appears in the eyes of the best recruits.

I was hoping for a stronger

I was hoping for a stronger close this day. Thanks DB..

Congradulations, you

Congradulations, you sucessfully yanked 36 chains and counting. When I finished reading I was nearly on the floor. I think I hear fax paper being loaded into fax's around the country. Game On, Go Blue!
