Recruit You're Most Excited About

Submitted by Hair Raid Offense on

Every year through out the recruiting process I latch onto a few guys that I really like, and really root for to come to Michigan. Guys I think I can make a huge impact, and guys I will follow closely throughout their career.

That being said, I like all of our recruits; and I hope they all have great careers.

FWIW, my favorite guys this year:

1. Thomas Rawls (really rooting for him, and have been all year)

2. Antonio Poole

3. Chris Bryant

And just incase anyone cares, a few of my favorites from the last few years.

2010:

Demar Dorsey, Marvin Robinson, Josh Furman

2009:

Denard Robinson, Teric Jones, Fitz Toussaint

2008:

Boubacar Cissoko, Marcus Witherspoon, Michael Shaw

Best of luck to Rawls but I hope he is one of the RBs that Hoke saw at a difference position eventually. There is no way this guy is faster than Cox or stronger than Hopkins. I just don't see a spot for him, and he only got an offer from Central Michigan. Even with all the academic concerns, if he was closer to a 4 than a 2 he would have had a flood of offers like Demar. He can't possibly be that good. As for favorite. Tough to pick this year. Not a lot left to get excited about. Hayes and Barnett had legit offer sheets that make me proud we won out. This class puts us behind the 8 ball for next year. Have to get back in the top 10 if we are going to have the talent to compete with the likes of OSU, ND, and NE. I just can't understand why Brandon did this.

I actually compared Rawls to two 3 star recruits that were plus 200 lbs, and ran 4.5s in school for a fair comparison. Only difference is they had some interest from other schools. Hopkins got looked at by some good schools and Cox some lower quality but still interest. Rawls had no interest. The point i was making is that all week we have heard the hype of Rawls and you are buying. I'm not. If Rawls ever breaks the lineup on the offensive side of the ball that means Rich Rod wasnt only neglecting the defense, but the offense too.

If he ever breaks the lineup on offense, maybe that he's a talented player who worked his ass off. The kid hasn't even stepped on campus and you're already talking shit about him. This is his dream school, and he worked hard to be eligible so he could play here. Give the kid a break.

"If Rawls ever breaks the lineup on the offensive side of the ball that means Rich Rod wasnt only neglecting the defense, but the offense too."

That statement is total bullshit. You're preemptively taking away credit from Rawls by saying that if he breaks the lineup, it'll only be because of a lack of talent ahead of him, and not because of his talent and hard work. It's one thing to think a kid is overhyped, but it's total bullshit to take away credit from a kid before he even sets foot on campus.

Cissoko, eh? FWIW, my guy this year is Chris Bryant. I just think the kid will be special. The next first round offensive lineman from Michigan? He's got a chance.

This year it's tough for me, probably because I'm not sure what the O or D will look like with the coaching transition.

I do like the class as a whole though, I think Hoke and co did an amazing job keeping RRs guys and adding quite a few of their own.

If I had to pick I would say I'm more excited about the LBs Poole and Jones than anything. Can't wait to see some improved LB play.

Hayes and Rawls should be fun to watch in the future IMO

I'm sorry. Let me elaborate to fit your standards. Brennen Beyer is the recruit I'm most excited about because he has good size and attacks at the point of attack. He also is athletic for a defensive end and never gives up on the play. There, happy now? Good, I don't really care.

Maybe it's just the excitement from today's committment talking, but . . . Barnett. Dude looks like quite the specimen and we haven't had a great season from a tight end since Joppru in '02.

I agree with Poole being a key guy. I guess whoever contributes the most to the team's effort and represents Michigan the best are the obvious but unknown guys. It's hard to know who that might be until their here a couple years. I love recruiting, but draft day grades to me are puzzling. The results are usually seen 2-4 years later.

That said, a nice tailback, a linebacker and a safety that compete at a really high level from this group would make a nice impact. That kind of assumes the offense and defensive line play is outstanding, which is asking a lot. I can't help but think how exciting it was to watch Jake Long dominate defenses and create so many opportunities for Mike Hart and Chad Henne.

I am excited and curious at the same time to see how this plays out next fall.

but I've been impressed with the way this class has shaped up. I'll admit I was a little worried with what would happen because of the cc, but Hoke & company did a great job. Looking forward to the spring game and next fall. GO BLUE

My past two favorites were Stephen Hopkins and Denard Robinson. Hopefully I can make it 3 for 3 by picking Kellen Jones as my favorite recruit this year who's good enough to get significant playing time next and could eventually become a star.

Rawls - because I just want him to succeed so badly

Kellen Jones - he is an impressive hitter and has a knack for getting to the quarterback

Barnett - we have sent tight ends to the NFL who were nothing like the talent this kid has

Beyer - Craig Roh 2.0
