Let the party begin, first up Carolina.
Who they should draft: Patrick Peterson.
Who they will draft: Cam Newton.
My anticipated reaction: myarrrghidontlikethatguy.
If the niners draft gabbert like Mcshay and kiper say they will, I will be pissed. Much rather have Peterson or Quinn
Expecting and hoping they draft Princ Ak...(not gonna bother attempting to spell his last name) and a couple of good O-linemen.
He's over rated. He's good but I wouldn't take him #1.
I also reject the laws of gravity. Suck it Newtons
As long as Detroit doesn't draft a WR in the first round (or QB or RB), then I will view the draft as a success.
I posted this in the other thread, but what do you guys think about free agency being after the draft this year? Do you think it will affect the way teams draft?
Also I'm still at work over here in California. I would like an update on badly Goodell gets booed.
Cam Newton and Jimmy Clausen being on the same roster will make it very easy to make hate the Panthers and laugh at the loser of that qb battle
roger goodell, and cam newton getting booed
roger goodell, and cam newton getting booed
I like how Cam was booed and Goodell got an earful when he went out there. WE WANT FOOTBALL
but I don't understand why Roger Goodell is getting booed. He wrote this Op-Ed for Wednesday's Wall Street Journal. I thought it was brilliant:
Do fans instinctively side with the players, who they see as heroes with whom they can relate? Is that it? Is it "sticking it to the man," to boo the league commissioner? Because I don't know how fans would respond to the the Goodell Op-Ed...
I hope we get some good O-Line people... BUT, apparently Lovie goes all defense all the time until the 4-5 round... We'll see, this year might be different (spoken as an obvious Cubs fan)
Yeah if we follow suit I expect a trade down to take D3 defensive backs
I appreciate your depressing optomism. May the Cubs someday not beat themselves.
Anthony Constanzo but he wont be there so i hope they pick Nate Solder out of Colorado
Its just nice to see the Lions not drafting in the top 10 and hopefully we get guy who can make a POSITIVE impact for OUR team for many years to come. I will take a WR even but it better be a damn good one
I heard some talk about trading down, anyone think that would be the best option when the Lions come up? Maybe someone like the Patriots look to move up by bundling some of their many picks.
I think New England might want to trade up with Detroit if Robert Quinn is still sitting there at 13. I'm all for a trade down...or even a trade up for Patrick Peterson.
AND make a pick? That'd be new.
I want Wade Phillips to not have his choice for D f'ed up by Kubiak and Rick Smith(GM). These two morons have absolutely no idea how to run a franchise. Smith is savvy though and had the owner, Bob McNair, godfather his children.
Cecil Newton is a scumbag.
Or does his dad? Douchebag.
His dad just comes off as such a piece of shit. Highway robbery right there.
The Panthers can die in a fire for reinforcing the idea that cheaters do indeed prosper. I hope his career path makes Ryan Leaf look like a wise draft pick.
The lions draft Brandon Graham at pick 13!!!!!
Oh wait, we're a season off...........
Cam Newton on hearing from potential teams-"I don't know anything, really." He's obviously had plenty of practice saying that.
The teams who pass on Patterson are passing on the best player in the draft
Also, sportsbook has LIVE NFL DRAFT betting
Sounds fun, what could go wrong?
Being on Thursday night.
Uga ate my homework so I borrowed that other dudes.
It was Timmy T's laptop!
Im hoping they can get him.
@ goddell getting booed haha
I loved that "WE WANT FOOTBALL" chant at the beginning.
I loved that "WE WANT FOOTBALL" chant at the beginning.
Cam the Sham Newton...I hope he turns out to be the biggest bust in history!
I don't think anyone will ever top JaMarcus Russel for the biggest bust in draft history.
JaMarcus Russel had nearly three times as much guaranteed money as Ryan Leaf, that's why I put him as a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf. Ryan Leaf is a very close second though.
Who is that?
Is Andre Smith.
That picture is going to give me nightmares.
I see a face where I shouldn't.
That body is not worth a multi-million dollar signing bonus investment. And it makes me wretch.
That should not be allowed
Feel bad for his dad.
Cam goes #1
Cam got more boos than the commish
ugh...cam newton just looks sleazy
Carolina done f*&@ed up
If there is no rookie salary cap, the Panthers just wasted $50 Million on Cam Newton. If they wanted a QB, should have chosen Gabbert.
I almost wish the Lions didn't win a few of those games at the end of the season so they could draft Patrick Peterson. That kid is the real deal.
I almost wish the Lions didn't win a few of those games at the end of the season so they could draft Patrick Peterson. That kid is the real deal.
I will thoroughly enjoy watching that. I detest Cam Newton and I really really hate it when sports announcers are like "oh, he made a mistake when he stole that laptop". Okay, I make mistakes but they don't involve theft. It may have been a "mistake", but that doesn't make it inexcusable. Not to mention the whole pay-for-play thing, which I totally think he was complicit in.
Any one know where I can stream this online for free other then espnnetworks.com?
NFL.com? If the Network is carrying it, maybe the website too?
My buddy just told me there is no trading in the draft. Is that true? Thanks in advance
You can trade picks, but you can't trade players I believe.
Trading draft picks is allowed, but they mentioned that players couldn't be traded.
Steve Urkle if he was a Linebacker and ate small children and QBs for meals. Broncos just got a machine as a LB.
really good next year they get their top LB back and add a sack machine, QB eating, monster LB
I love to see Von Miller going here. He made a tough decision to come back to school last year, and it paid off big time for him. The opinion of Miller down here rivals the opinion of Denard in Ann Arbor. (And a similar guy in that he frequently used his high profile to draw attention to the other athletic teams on campus.) Great day for a great guy.
Von is a helluva' athelete. Watching players develope like him is just fun to watch. To go from talented, but kind of lost, sophmore to a dominant senior is remarkable. It was like watching Brandom Graham again.
Roger Goodell has got to have one of the most awkward jobs in the world. Von Miller was crying on his shoulder in mid-man hug for a solid minute.
Haha I loved watching the highlight of Marcell Dareus breaking through Sparty's Oline and throwing down Cousins.
I think that was the backup QB. Cousins was knocked out of that game early.
I don't think they Bengals messed up their 1st round pick...quite an accomplisment
rumors(and tweets) about Chad Johnson to Detroit. After this pick it seems more likely that Cincinnati keeps TO and sends #85 packing. I'd like to have him as a Lion, as it'd be a big improvement over Bryant Johnson. The two CJ's and Burleson would be a nice receiving corp
I am really liking the pace of the draft so far. Seems like the average pick is taking about 6 minutes so far.
And the Cardinals get the best player in the draft.
With all the talks about trading down and such, Patrick Petersen shouldn't have gone to the Cardinals. There must be something changed about pick trading because all day today and yesterday I heard the Cardinals are all but guarenteed to trade out of the #5 slot. Petersen is a beast but I would take Chuck Woodson any day anywhere!
i hate how they keep showing the players on the phone before the announcement!!
how ESPN announces who the pick is before the commish actually announces it. It really takes away from the intrigue of the draft.
Agh. Beaten to it. Also, the trade hasn't even been announced yet...
Wow, Atlanta gave up a lot of that pick. This years 27th pick, their 2nd and 4th round pick, and next years 1st and 4th round pick. I think that was too much.
Yeah, I kind of liked that one. Hopefully there will be a good DE or pash rushing OLB available at 27.
did you see Julio Jones's dad? Pimpin' aint easy...
And a BIG jump up.
Whoa...gave up too much. Good move by Browns. Sounds weird saying that.
That was a steal by the Browns, swap firsts and they also recieve four addtional picks.
The 2 ND might be understandable. But 2 4's 2, uh, too? For a RECEIVER? Dude better be Jerry Rice.
Swapping picks and a future first round pick for a guy who hasn't played a down? Atlanta just made a mistake IMO.
The Browns just robbed Atlanta in that trade.
What an awful trade by Atlanta.
Browns stole the show right there.
apparently they are going for the win now model of running a franchise.
I love it! Go Brownies!!!!!
Were the Falcons a WR away from the Super Bowl? I don't think so...
Locker ahead of Gabbert
Jake Locker congrats to him and i hope he has a hall of fame career
Tenn. picks Jake Locker, wow! I guess we'll see how this one works out.
Speechless. Really? This is just getting good!
Do NFL scouts watch college football?
Locker didn't have much of a supporting cast around him at Washington.
were full of good decisions as ESPN just showed by instead of throwing an easy interception he made the right play and threw it away
I think Jake Locker will be a great QB in the NFL. Reminds me of Brett Favre. Tough as nails and a good scrambler.
I like this pick by the Titans. I think Locker will have a lot better NFL career than Gabbert or Newton.
Think Prince will be available to the Lions now that the Cowboys took Tyron Smith?
I really would hate to be Mayhew and Schwartz right now trying to decide between Costonzo, Bowers, or Prince Amukamara (Sp?). I'm just glad Millen isn't around to fuck this up anymore!
They could take the guy the Lions want, or give them open choice on all their favorites.
Where's Formerly Anonymous when you need him?
At least they won't take an overrated wide receiver (I hope).
Redskins might have done something sensible for a second year.
And the Jaguars scoop in ahead of Minnesota to pick up Gabbert. Interesting move...
Does that change the Viking pick from a QB to someone the Lions want?
Looks like the Texans selected Watt. Looks like Amukamara will be there for the Lions.
....trying to be blocked by Vincent Smith during last year's Wiscy-UM game. I vividly remember Watt swatting down a Denard pass to the left side, and Vince Smith was basically sticking a forearm in his 'nads to block him. It was so unfair.
Adam Schefter just tweeted the Lions are trying to trade out of their pick. Badly.
Take it FWIW
Smart move in my opinion.
And reiterated that on the broadcast. Says both the Vikings and Lions are trying to trade down
Since most of the guy they were looking at are still around, they could move down a few picks, still get one of them, and gain a pick.
Maybe this means that the Lions like Smith more than Amukamara.
They may also feel like they could trade back about five spots and still get Amukamara.
Anyone think Suh and Fairly would be sick?
The lions front office clearly does
lions better not trade down...got some serious players present. Bowers, Fairley, and amak.... Got to get one of thiem
There are plenty of good players still available. Meaning that they could trade down and still get one of them.
And still get one of them.
Talk about a fucking reach. Wow, good luck with that Vikings.
What a stretch pick by the Vikings. Unbelievable.
Ponder? wtf. Seems like a reach to me....
If you can't trade down, just throw it away.
Aren't the Vikings also the only team to ever not use a pick in the draft? Didn't they run out of time and get skipped a few years ago? Gotta love them Vikes screwing themselves ever since getting rid of Moss, the "love" boat incident, the whizzinator, and Favre fiasco
Ponder at 12 WTF hahaha have fun Minn
Christian Ponder is a better pick than any of the QBs who have gone so far and I'm dead serious.
I will buy that to some extent but would you draft him 12th overall?
It's value. If you can get someone else, then draft the same guy later (even if you have to trade up to do it), that's value.
Agreed on value, but I still think he'll be a better pro than the other three or Mallett.
But if your gonna reach why not go for Mallett character issues yes but much more talent than ponder
I disagree. For a smart guy he was good for a couple dopey plays a game as a senior.
Leaves a lot of options to the Lions
With 12 picks in...4 QBs in a weeeaaaakkkkk QB class. This is insane! This pick by the Vikes should make Lions fans happy!
What about some of the other positions??
Where are the WR's?? Safeties?
Things are looking better and better for Mallett to slip into the first round.
This draft just turned into the twilight zone.
Dalton? Heck, Mallett.
yyeeeessssssss!!!! Love IT
He better come and play <insert expletive>
Good luck signing him Lions fans. After his salary at Auburn you could be looking at a hold out.
You could say the same for the Panthers. I don't think the Panthers can afford Cam Newton at 50 mil guarenteed. Hold out there!
Rookies are going to get paid...? Dang...
i figure he is going to get a salariy close to the #12 pick last year, ryan matthews, 26.65 mil with 16 mil gt
Ndamkung Suh and Nick Fairly...QB feast!
Well... good luck running against the Lions, but I still think Prince was the better choice.
I think Prince was a no brainer he doesn't look happy might take a lot to sign him
Suh will push him. Look at those highlights
Dont forget about KVB hes a horse who never stops running.
there were a lot of lowlights and time spent on the sidelines sucking wind. Not to mention he was probably the dirtiest player in college football. Interesting that we want outstanding young men representing our university, but will cheer for scumbags on our pro teams.
Fearsome D-Line...that could be a great pick for the Lions.
Kid was an asshole in the Bowl game...but this is the Pros, not Miss Manners.
They better get his attitude in line! If he is focused I think he can be awesome. Detroit will have the best Dline in the league next year
hopefully his attitude doesn't affect the locker room i mean he didn't look excited at all about got to det.
Since Schwartz could get Albert Hanesworth to play, I think he's or a food handle on how to deal with bad attitude guys.
Or "got a good handle"
Money got haynesworth to play
I'm probably the only one who was hoping for almost anyone except Prince Amukamura. I just haven't been impressed with his actual game performance. That being said, I don't really get Nick Fairley with Williams and Hill on the roster.
i think this d-line will help the CBs a little bit, give opposing QBs less time to throw, but they do need to do something about drafting a CB but i think an OL is more of a need, they cant afford to ruin staffords career because of injuries from sacks
D-line rotation is now set for a long time if Fairley pans out. I look at this as a Warren Sapp/ Randy Moss lite situation where a guy projected to go high slips down and the team that takes him ends up very happy. I really liked that pick.
youre not the only one i feel the same way i think prince was good because of suh but hill and williams wernt great we had the 24th worst rush defense, you cant pass on fairley with that pick
Didn't see that coming... but that is one hell of a DL
I like the Nick Fairley pickup for the Lions...I like it a lot.
Never thought that Fairley could be there.
Why is the Lions as an organization seem to focus so much on one position group? I like the pick but I am assuming you may have had some needs in other areas. If he pans out you will have a pretty bad ass D-line though.
Depends on the position group. In the NFL you win with great lineplay, a QB, and an elite corner. You don't win with WRs.
I agree completely. In my opinion it would have been a good idea to draft an O-lineman to keep your franchise QB healthy. That being said he was one of the best available on the board.
To clarify: lineplay on both sides of the ball. I was hoping for an offensive lineman or Prince because the defensive line is already really strong, but there's something to be said for just being the best at one particular thing. This would make pass rush from the front four that thing. And should stop the run fairly well. Basically if he can stay on the field, you'll have Fairley, Williams, and Vandenbosch single blocked. That's, um, acceptable.
After the rare franchise QB. Good O-Linemen can be had in 2nd and 3rd rounds.
I am not a Lions fan but I like this a lot more than an over focus on the WR group...it's hard to get killed by the pass when the opposing quarterback is running around and/or staring up at the sky.
From a football standpoint: Woo!
From a God, I think that dude is a gigantic dick and hate him standpoint: bummer.
Fairley did not seem happy to be picked by the Lions. That makes me sad. Show some f'ing enthusiasm, you just got picked by an NFL team that WANTS you. Grumble.
other teams passed on him
I hope you are right.
Like Brady did.
....was contemplative that signing bonus less than received from Auburn and Chizik.
Probably because he'll always be second fiddle to Suh. Come the think of it, why the shit are they drafting a DT???
his name called or Mark Ingram
So let's go with him.
Even better. Man, I want to see Miami's O-Line vs. The Lions D-Line in a few years.
After hearing that Fairley and Suh are on the Lions, Jay Cutler retired.
I agree that he didn't look too happy walking up to the stage and shaking Goodell's hand. I honestly don't understand how he could not be happy getting to play alongside Suh, Vandenbosch, Williams, and Avril. I trust Schwartz and Mayhew on this one.
He is upset because he thought he was a top-ten pick
Did you see that watch on Ingram?
Fairley is a dirty player. Hopefully he cleans it up in the NFL
So is Suh. I could care less about being dirt in the NFL.
Yea it is possible to care less if you think about it
Suh doesn't play dirty, he plays rough. Two thirds of the penalties that get called on him make no fucking sense.
Some just hide it better than others. In football, it is better to have a bunch of nasty MF's on defense than a locker room full of nice guys.
Probably no dirtier than Lawrence Taylor and he worked out okay. I'm a Giant fan and would have loved for Fairley to fall to us. This is a very good pick by the Lions.
.... did Pod People come during the lockout and replace all the NFL GM's in the first 15 picks? Jeebus. Christian Ponder AND Jake Locker picked in the top 15? Fairley to the Lions? Wow.
Suh & Fairley. Pain.
Yikes! That has the makings of a nasty as line. I'm surprised he was still available.
Like this pick and was hoping he was there when the Steelers picked. He is a perfect 3-4 end and Aaron Smith is getting old.
Can Kerrigan play in the 3-4? Yeah, I know he's a stud. I hear that Kipper is talking up his athleticism. Any thoughts?
I'm convinced he's the white Brandon Graham. He'll be able to play in the league as either a 3-4 end or a 4-3 end / pass rushing tackle.
We remember him tearing it up against us. In a Lindy's preview mag, they asked guys what game film they'd want GMs to see, and he chose the Michigan game.
Actually take somebody?
Come on, get Tommy some defensive help!
Have been of Tate getting sacked! Anyone else notice that?
If I were a Lions fan, I would not be happy with the on-field character and composure of Fairley. Perhaps Suh will teach him to be a good person, but that certainly will be a hell of a task.
You should try to convince Jake Delhomme that Suh is a clean player. I don't want a bunch of soft players on the Lions defense, I want teams to hate playing us.
I just got home and was trying to follow the draft through this open thread on my phone, unfortunately I found it a little tricky to know what the last pick was and who is on the clock. So for anyone else trying to follow the draft but can't watch it, I will keep updating each pick and who is on the clock. The draft run-down so far:
1. Carolina: Cam Newton (QB) Auburn
2. Denver: Von Miller (OLB) Texas A&M
3. Buffalo Marcell Dareus (DT) Alabama
4. Cincinnati: A.J. Green (WR) Georgia
5. Arizona: Patrick Peterson (CB) LSU
6. Atlanta (through Cleveland): Julio Jones (WR) Alabama
7. San Francisco: Aldon Smith (DE) Missouri
8. Tennessee: Jake Locker (QB) Washington
9. Dallas: Tyron Smith (OT) USC
10. Jacksonville (through Washington): Blaine Gabbert (QB) Missouri
11. Houston: J.J. Watt (DE) Wisconsin
12. Minnesota: Christian Ponder (QB) Florida State
13. Detroit: Nick Fairley (DT) Auburn
14. St. Louis: Robert Quinn (DE) UNC
15. Miami: Mike Pouncey (C) Florida
16. Washington (through Jacksonville): Ryan Kerrigan (DE) Purdue
On the Clock: New England
17. New England: Nate Solder (OT) Colorado
On the Clock: San Diego
Thought the Pats may have taken Ingram here.
I am actually somewhat surprised by the slide for Ingram; he would have been value for the Pats in that slot. At this point it seems pretty unclear where he lands.
But man, they need to build that D now, to win now. Tom doesn't have a lot of years for "development".
Typical NE draft. Two picks this round, and 2 next round(#17,#28,#33,#60). How does a team that makes deep playoff runs every year keep ending up with all these multiple high round draft picks? It seems Bill Belichik and Pats GM operate on a whole nother level
Making no high picks, trading down, and getting more picks. If only the Raiders had their typical suckatude this year.
Nate Solder, another in the long line of converted 3 star TEs that turn into 1st round OT draft picks.
the next Nate Solder?
Heres to hoping that AJ WIlliams will also join that club!
EDIT: looks like maizeandblue21 beat me to it
...he likes the way you think.
[edit. 10 secs. late]
From scoring that game...
He was very productive at DT this year. Don't take it personally. The ESPN boys didn't sound that enthusiastic.
That was just a horrible game to show ANY defensive highlights.
18. San Diego: Corey Liuget (DT) Illinois
On the Clock: NY Giants
I know Goodell is busy these days, but would it kill him to learn how to pronounce the names of the guys that showed up to the draft, at least?
Come on Giants. Take Anthony Castanzo.
Defensive Tackle is one of the most difficult positions to fill in the NFL. There is a reason Albert Haynesworth got a $100 million contract from the Redskins. Teams have a hard time finding one playmaker at that position... the Lions may now have two. If Fairley fulfills his potential, the Lions will have a fearsome duo for years to come.
This has been the most entertaing drafts in a long time
I really need Ingram to slide out of the 1st round. Could happen, would be great for me if it did.
What, is he on someone else's fantasy draft team?
Sounds like there is some money riding on it...
The first bet I took was under 1.5 for RB's in the first round. Then I added some more at under 1, thinking if Ingram goes at least I push that, and if he slides out I win both bets.
very very close. Still push, and that's a win in my book.
Still a lot of corners left on the board. Hopefully one will still be around for the Lions next round. I wouldn't mind trading up for a Brandon Harris.
...trading Brandon Harris to the Jets for David Harris!!
19. NY Giants: Prince Amukamara (CB) Nebraska
On the Clock: Tampa Bay
Is a couple of seconds BEHIND ESPN's. Doh! NFL.
I like Carimi better than Castanzo, either way you get a big tough road grader.
either Cameron Jordan or Daquan Bowers they could also have a nasty D-line
There has to be something more going on with Bowers' knee. He was projected as possibly the 1st overall pick not too long ago.
Clayborn has shoulder issues and didnt produce but he just got picked over Bowers
The other day I heard on ESPN that scouts were concerned that Bowers knee was a "ticking time bomb" that can go off at any time and end his career. Not many teams want to waste a first round draft pick on some guy who might only be able to play for a couple of years. Although if he is able to stay healthy he would be one of the biggest steals of the draft. That kid has tremendous talent and phyiscal ability.
For the Lions in the second round. The new Steel Curtain.
One of my classmates from Med School is an orthopedic surgeon at the Andrews institute. He basically said that Bowers knee has a huge osteochondral defect. Basically the knee is degenerative and he will be able to max out at 3-5 years. At some point 3-5 years of an amazing player will be worth it but that is probably not in the first round.
The Falcons just traded Matt Ryan, Roddy White, their next four 1st-round picks, Section 313 of the Georgia Dome, and three of the real housewives of Atlanta to Tampa Bay for their #20 pick.
Lord they gave up a lot for Julio Jones.
20. Tampa Bay: Adrian Clayborn (DE) Iowa
On the Clock: Kansas City
Nick fairley was a dominant DT. Fast, instinctive, and frankly ridiculous. He isn't Suh - articulate, well spoken and willing to kill at all times. But he will feel like he has to be to keep with those guys.
Here is the thing that is the most interesting in my mind - the fact that people thought that the Lions would draft a cornerback. The Lions will not I REPEAT will NOT draft a cornerback high. Ever....because they are a Tennessee defense and the Tennessee defense believes in pressuring the offense with their front four and dropping seven. The front four is all that matters.
With that in mind - it's a great pick. They were only going to pick Fairley, Kerrigan or Bowers. Bowers knee must have been a real problem and they probably thought Kerrigan was a 3-4 at his size. Leaves Fairley as the most logical pick. My guess is they were trying to trade out of the spot because they were sure that the Vikings were going to pick him. When they didn't they wasted no time in sending in their pick.
Am I the only one who was never enamored with Adrian Clayborn?
Maybe that's just because Taylor Lewan neutralized him so well.
We all saw him get dominated by a rs freshman. The dude was so gassed
He can be abeast but we contained him last year. I remember the TV showing him on the sidelines totally gassed after M's first or second drive.
Me either. His conditioning would worry me more than anything. Every time the camera was on him, he was on one knee sucking wind.
Trent Cole did not go to Iowa he went to Cincinnati just to clraify for anyone who may have been confused by Gruden's comments
Do you guys think Mike Martin is a first rounder next year?
A great season.
You're absolutely right, but it isn't out of the question with Cambell (or some other big DT) in the 3-tech, provided he (Martin) cuts down on injuries.
Molk is going to have to put on some weight between now and then if he is going to have a shot at a first round pick. He reminds a bit of the center from PSU a few years ago the Steelers drafted. He went in the 6th round.
For a first round pick? Guard and Center picks have to be exceptional to make round 1.
No, I don't. Probably a mid-2nd, but he could beat it if he stays healthy and plays really well against OSU.
If a little Jersey Shore.
21. Cleveland (through Kansas City): Phil Taylor (DT) Baylor
On the Clock: Indianapolis
Note: Kansas City got Cleveland's 1st round pick (27th overall) and 3rd round pick.
Thus dooming his knee to the "Cleveland Curse".
Really, the Pats should take him. If he's only an impact for 2-3 years, it'll help finish Brady's career, and they don't like paying guys their next big contract, so they won't have to worry after the rookie one anyway.
22. Indianapolis: Anthony Castonzo (OT) Boston College
On the Clock: Philadelphia
No Heyward in the first round.
Obligatory 'MERICUH moment.
Detroit could be looking at Bowers in the 2nd round. Should they take him?
I wanted the armed forces members to start the "WE WANT FOOTBALL" chant while they were on stage
23. Philadelphia Danny Watkins (OG) Baylor
On the Clock: New Orleans
Lots of good DE's in this draft. I bet we still see one taken at some point.
1st round RB. They need the defensive help.
24. New Orleans: Cameron Jordan (DE) California
On the Clock: Seattle
Lions new game plan: injure aaron rodgers, jay cutler, and whoever the vikings throw out there and pray to god your corners can cover for 2 seconds.
Stop the Vikings from running and scare whoever is Minnesota's QB into throwing right to those CBs.
Precisely. Build on your strength and stabilize the other areas. Also don't let good talent slide.
25. Seattle: James Carpenter (OG) Alabama
On the Clock: Baltimore
I know the draft isn't even over but why not.
1. Lions are top 5 in the league in sacks.(suh has 12+)
2. Delmas has 8+ int
3. Lions are top 5 in the league in forced turnovers.
4. Matt Staffords starts 16 games.
Please, please, please!!!!!!!!!
It seems like these drafts go more or less as predicted for about the first 15-20 picks, then it turns into something different.
But I thought this one got wacky as soon as Atlanta made the trade, and imploded when the Vikes took a QB.
The "experts" had no fucking clue this year.
eg: all qb's getting their first paychecks, quinn, A. smith
when he left, Baltimore doesn't know what to do anymore!
Wow, how much better Detroit would have been with Mayhew at the helm instead of Millen. Any coach having the luxury (so far) of a talent evaluator like Mayhew has to have life easier.
Who had Eric Berry the next Woodson? Uh, yeah...
Ingram to the Patriots. BKFinest it.
Pats have an interesting pick, even if Baltimore takes one.
Or not. Fuck New England. They collect picks like drug dealers collect OSU memorabilia.
Saints took him in the same slot, so I was kind of right?
How the hell are there any teams that still trade with New England on draft day? Haven't they learned their lesson? Aren't New England fans annoying enough without their team continuing to stockpile draft pucks?
Rather than actually take players that might beat them in the fall rather than April.
It's been 7-8 years since they've won a Super Bowl, so it's not impossible to question the Patriots. No one's getting younger. And players win Super Bowls, not draft picks. (Have to eventually take some good players).
In round 2. But good thing you didn't Raback it.
Unless the Saints are taking him right now...
i don't know if Tom brady knows what to with a real rb behind him. He might freek out if he gives someone the ball more than 12 times in a game
